  1. I was mascot for that man Utd away game. Neil pointan looked after me. Richie was sulking in the corner of the dressing room having been put on the bench (or maybe not even making the bench) and didn't sign my sticker album. Joe r put me in a friendly head lock and chucked me out when he came to do his team talk. McCarthys goal was great. Little did I know that within a week of that day supporting latics would become so miserable
  2. well done on appointing a manager, getting some loan players in with great potential I am sure and securing the signature of some players who have done great in the all powerful spl for 12 months. It's progress sure but i really wouldn't get too excited yet. That's no criticism of the club, they are just preparing for the new season and it may go swimmingly but am still struggling to understand why let alone accept that we are in this position as a football club. It's not all rosey you know folks
  3. Sorry if I have misrepresented the group and its intended course of action. Merely boycotting the North stand is clearly not going to cut it and may not prove to be an effective in any way. The group hasn't yet formulated a clear plan as to how it will take things forward. At the minute the focus has to be on getting numbers behind the cause and gathering ideas. Fans can then take this in whatever direction they collectively see fit. The request at this stage is to turn up, say your piece, see what others have to say and see if this can get off the ground. It is very much in its infancy.
  4. Ask yourself whether you are happy with (or even reluctantly accepting of) the current situation and the continual year on year decline. If you are content with that then that is fine and your choice. However if as a fan you are not happy and have the desire to do something about it then get involved and see if we can affect change. It will only happen if fans come together in numbers. Fans will not always agree on the best way forward but at least be willing to try and pull together for a common cause. Be opened minded and don't poo poo the valiant and well intended efforts of others. Give it a chance.
  5. really good and productive discussion - a rally cry for more to support the campaign at this stage. Get involved if you can. Flyers will hopefully be distributed at friendles to gather support. Boycott everything at BP other than paying through the turnstile and your pie and pint. This campaign really needs numbers if it's going to have a positive impact.
  6. Forget the manager. It is surely an insignificance for the obvious reasons given by many on this board. The first half of this year has shown us all that. Focus your energies on holding the owners to account, challenging them, protesting, use whatever powers we as fans have at our disposal.
  7. I see. just trying to unpick why we are :censored:e me ol' mate. No reason to get personal. Any idea why we are :censored:e? Need to look little deeper than 'we should have played 4-3-3'
  8. The French guy cried when scored. Our chap did a silly 'its all about me' dance when he scored. Says it all.
  9. Ok a win but I just can't see how we are ever going to compete with France et al. Hart is bang average, sterling is a disaster. We are the national version of Spurs. Not up to it when if matters. You can't quantify it, you can't explain it. Just missing that extra something. Not Roys fault. Probably the fault of the premier league in reality
  10. we were not on 4K when he current owners took over. They have overseen ten years of decline. I Where might we be in another ten years under their control? That's my point. We are going backwards in all areas. Happy to accept that we are where we are right now but it's the forward looking trajectory that is worrying. Can someone please give me a sensible prediction of where this club will be in ten years of still controlled by the current owners?
  11. I do remember it. I also remember that we secured new buyers with ambition (ambition now long gone) and within three years were back in the playoffs. Administration was the catalyst. Any prospect of a tilt at the playoffs in three years from now under the current regime? Sorry for sounding like a broken record but we need change. That's change, not a continuation of the current strategy of running the club on shoestring and doing no more than is needed to stay in league 1. People do not appear to understand just how damaging this strategy is to the long term sustainability of this club. Stop accepting this god awful situation.
  12. I don't have answers. Am just encouraging others to try and take a step back and look at what they want for the club long term. We as fans need to be asking such questions and trying to hold the owners to account to bring about change. How we go about that I have no idea right now but the Sheridan situation should be bringing fans together to do something about this truly dire set of circumstances. This is the lowest point in my life as a fan.
  13. Don't turn on me. It's not me that is killing the club now is it. And no I shall not be disappearing to support a prem team but many many thousands have and more will be driven to do so under the current regime until the club is dead. I want change. Of course I don't want to see us getting relegated or going into admin. I want to see us run responsibility working to a long term plan. I want a club to be proud of. My feelings of desperation are such that i am willing to consider the idea that something bad may have to happen to achieve that. In lieu of a new millionaire buyer that might mean things getting worse before they get better. The club needs change. How exactly is that going to come about?
  14. Clear for us all to see westy. I no longer have any interest in the footballing side of this club. Couldn't care less who we get as manager and who leaves. I also couldn't care less if we get relegated. 17th place in league one year after year is what is killing this club. That is more damaging (long term) than relegation or even administration.
  15. If going into admin drives the current owners out of the club then I have no issue with that. Let's start again from the bottom. Better than the current situation in my view
  16. We are not reliant on the current regime to have a football club called oldham athletic you know. There is another way. Open your mind. Cutting off income is one way to make the owners act. It's the only ammunition fans have got
  17. My advice and approach - do not pay a penny into oec or oafc
  18. Needs a bit more than the odd passing reference to the role the stand plays am afraid. Articulation of a plan for this football club which goes further than merely beyond pointing to some undefined point in time when the stand will give us a bit more cash for the playing budget. That is not a vision.
  19. If the investment in the new stand represents the long term route to future progress then that is fine and understandable. Communication to that effect and some reassurance that there is a plan is long overdue however which makes me extremely suspicious. The club will lose more fans if it continues in this manner and any increased income from the stand will be offset by reduction in ticket sales and we will be no better off. The club needs to manage this situation.
  20. Fine. If that's the truth then at least it will be out and fans might then have cause to pull together to something about it. Being kept in the dark is preventing fans from uniting as many don't see that the current regime is killing OAFC (the 'if it wasn't for corney we wouldn't have a club' brigade)
  21. Very accurate summary blue guru. I can live with finishing 17th, hec I can even live with us taking a couple of steps backwards if that's the way it pans out but we as fans need to know there is a vision for this club, a long term plan with the ultimate objective of mounting a realistic and sustainable campaign to get us challenging in this division on a regular basis. Is that too much to ask? We need some hope for the future and we haven't got it under the current regime. That is what is killing the club.
  22. I don't have the answers but these are the questions we should be asking as fans. We should be providing the club with direction on these matters.
