John Hartson has been linked with Sheffield Wednesday after he was released yesterday by West Bromwich Albion.

Gillingham have sold hot prospect Luke Freeman to Premier League giants Arsenal. The 15 year old was the center of transfer attention from West Ham and Newcastle but was sold to Arsenal for a 200k pound fee. The contract is for 2 years, he will become part of the Gunners's youth squad.

Bournemouth striker Sam Vokes has turned down a move to Crewe.

The Wales under-21 international was targeted by The Alex after they failed to land Cheltenham's Damian Spencer and Forest Green's Stuart Fleetwood.

Brentford have signed Brighton striker Nathan Elder for £35,000 after he passed a medical on Thursday. The 20-year-old moved to the Withdean from Billericay for £10,000 in December 2006 but has made only three starts for the Seagulls.

Coventry have rejected Notts Forest's £1.25m bid for Leon Best.

 Forest seem desperate now - Expect Dowie is holding out for £1.5 m

Best ain't going to Forest, Cov have let Kyle and Adebola go (which has already upset the Cov faithful - well my mate anyway) they can't let anymore forwards walk out the door.

Maybe they will put in a late bid for Lee Hughes.

Thanks for the Nish update JimiT. Another one off the list but I have to say that I was a bit under-whelmed by some of the comments emanating from North of The Border.

Kevin Betsy on loan to Wallsall till end of season

Richard Money quoted as saying about Ricketts: "We have been in some discussions with Michael and his agent.

"Obviously he has an injury at the moment and we want to wait for that to clear up before doing anything.

"His short-term future is open-ended and we're all comfortable with that."

Have we cancelled his contract?

Just had a quick look on Betsys move to Walsall and saw this:

"The Saddlers are in need of strengthening their options up front with Ricketts' future far from certain.

The former England striker's loan at The Banks's Stadium has expired and the club have hit an impasse over negotiations to keep him. Michael's short-term future is open-ended and we're all comfortable with that

Walsall boss Richard Money

Money added: "We have been in some discussions with Michael and his agent.

Ricketts has scored five goals in his second spell back at Bescot but has missed the last five games because of an Achilles problem."

Sounds to me like Ricketts may be on his way back to BP unless we have freed him.

More about Nish;

Hibernian have thrashed out a deal to bring Kilmarnock striker Colin Nish to Edinburgh immediately. Nish has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract, much to manager Mixu Paatelainen’s delight.

Bristol City midfielder Alex Russell will remain on loan at Cheltenham until the end of the season.

Port Vale have ended speculation about the future of teenage striker James Lawrie by signing him up on a new two-and-a-half year deal.

"There were a few clubs interested, which I was flattered about but Vale are the club I would like to play for," the 17-year-old said.

But 27-year-old defender Richard Walker has had his Port Vale contract terminated by mutual consent. Walker managed just 17 starts, having suffered with tendonitis in his knee.

Yep. They've currently got more points.

Unlike last Season when we finished above them.

Nah it's because they attempt to sign players who would make a real difference at this level. Stuart Elliott would be a great signing for us. As our rivals build strong teams we sell our assets.

Lee Bullock has inked a permanent deal with Bradford City after his loan spell.

The 26-year-old defender, who started his career with York before a big-money move to Cardiff City, has signed an 18-month contract for an undisclosed amount.

Young Fulham defender TJ Moncur has been drafted in by Bradford City on a one-month loan.

So what went wrong for them last Season then? And the Season before for that matter.

There is a World of difference between us and Doncaster. They have got a state of the art new Stadium built with the Council's money. They have also got a life-long Doncaster fan as owner and he is extremely wealthy (far more so than TTA combined). We simply cannot compete with them with regard to wages as we have found out with Wellens and would have done with Kilkenny if Leeds had not gazumped them. There are always bigger fish.

Selling Trotman made good business sense and was always the right move for the lad himself.

Preston North End have finally completed the signing of Aberdeen full-back Michael Hart after chasing the player throughout the window.

The highly-rated Scot had already put pen to paper on a pre-contract agreement, but Hart will now arrive immediately in a £100,000 transfer.

Darlington have completed the deadline day signing of Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Przemyslaw Kazimierczak.

Scott Vernon is the latest name in Colchester's transfer deadline day hat after the striker told the Colchester Gazette he would be interested in making the switch to Layer Road.

Przemyslaw Kazimierczak, he's worth a million points at scrabble.

Yet some people on here still say he wasn't good enough for us.

I assume you are a fan of his Coco ?

Michael D'Agostino has extended his loan spell at Cheltenham until the end of the season. The 21-year-old Blackpool player has spent two months with the Robins and made nine appearances.
