dean 1984
Unfortunately the team will be GK FLEMING RB EARDLEY LB AUSTIN CB FOSTER CB HAZELL RW TAYLOR LW PURDIE CM ALLOTT CM RAVENHILL ST SMALLEY ST ABBOTT If that was the case would anyone lump on relegation- i would

And there will not be 5 Darlo players, nad how many have you seen play anyway? So if there is no Gregan, Liddell, Hughes (despite what other say I think he will have been on a bit of money others were after him he wa in demand), Star Loan star from Chamionship on mega bucks (perm anyone form about 5) So at least 5 or 6 mega wages not being used. Taylor Kennedy Lee Purdie/Bermeizer Abbott B.Clarke subs from: GK, Eardley, Smalley, Stephens, Alessandra, Hazell, Ravenhill, westlake plus 3 others +youths. can see crossley, stam, whitaker, Lomax, o'grady, kalala, maher, allott being moved on, possibly hazell as well baring in mind his recent crap displays, think gregan to be kept for experience and no nonsense defending ability. All ifs and buts, but we shall see.... Edited April 30, 2009 by shefflatic
mattyg101
Might be nice to see how Kieran Lee does with a good run in the first team. Who is to say he will be playing 4-4-2 as well?

singe
Who is to say he will be playing 4-4-2 as well? Would you like to put any money on any other formation?!! I'll happily put money on it!
slystallone
Would you like to put any money on any other formation?!! I'll happily put money on it! It will be 4-4-2; its all DP has ever played by all acoounts. i'd go for: Fleming Eardley Foster Gregan Lomax Taylor Ravenhill Lee Smalley Abbott New Little Striker subs to taken from Ollerenshaw / Black / Hazell / Whitker / Stephens / Lewis / COG.........and a few new perm & loan signings with the youngsters on the fringes (Brooke / Rowney / Dawson et all) think only 2 or 3 will follow DP over from Darlo; the rest of the new ones will be taken from both the list of targets that Joe has drawn up; and the target list of DP's. Expecting us to be a functional unit but not spectactular; in a rigid 4-4-2 that will use the talents of Taylor & smalley to the fore; with a big & small strike partnership up top. Might not be too many 5 - 4 score lines but i can see an awful lot of 1 nils & 2 -1's. We'll be hard to beat but not amazing on the eye IMO. A steady ship will do me though; and it provides something to build upon if DP is given time to turn us around.
Zorrro
Foster and Gregan at centre half? Get Maldini and Cafu either side of them and we're sorted.
slystallone
Foster and Gregan at centre half? Get Maldini and Cafu either side of them and we're sorted. I know, lacking in pace somewhat, BUT - i think Penney will bring Foster with him as he has done at Darlo after having him at Donny. Gregan i think will be offered a deal over Stam; as Joe has been very vocal in his praise for Greegs, and i think that he will pass that info onto DP. We have pace in Eardley & Lomax to cover from FB - and as Reuben is now on the long contract, he is there to cover for injuries or loss of form. On his day, as we've seen plenty of times, Reuubes can be a top L1 defender. Experienced & Vocal CB's - i'd take that as a solid foundation to build on (Penney's own words!)
