Ackey
Despite last weeks shenanigans at Boundary Park Stefan Stam is still a wanted man. Sky Sports are reporting a host of clubs are interested in the Dutchman, who was Latics longest serving player when he left BP earlier this month. jsslatic
A confusion with his former agent led to Stam missing a meeting with Oldham and, as a result, they opted to withdraw their contract offer. *Hits head against brick wall*
Ackey
*Hits head against brick wall* At least it's getting some national press that it wasn't Stef at fault... no matter how sketchy the reasons are!
Lookers_Carl
At least it's getting some national press that it wasn't Stef at fault... no matter how sketchy the reasons are! It is still implying though that his absence was the reason for our contract withdrawal
Zorrro
I've asked the BBC to change the wording of their headline and article. I bet they don't though.
Ackey
It is still implying though that his absence was the reason for our contract withdrawal And whilst the official has denied this is the case the story as I heard it earlier that day, before the news had broken fully I admit, was that Penney was unhappy and withdrew the offer that was on the table before understanding what was going on... I doubt he would have put it back on the table after that... so that may be the case no? I admit this is all subject to the usual source jokes. OldhamSheridan
I thought Wolfy was our longest serving player (debut: 15/11/03)? When did Stam start here?

JohnnyPimp
According to the article he missed the meeting due to a mix-up with his 'former' agent.
martjs
I've asked the BBC to change the wording of their headline and article. I bet they don't though. The BBC have changed it. Nice one on getting that done.
Zorrro
The power of OWTB strikes again Bit miffed they still haven't changed the headline, though.

Frankly Mr Shankly
I hope Stefan actually signs for Brentford or Yeovil as mentioned in the Sky Sports link. Purely so he can actually get a reception he deserved from the fans. Never a massive fan of Stam's myself. I thought he's always been much more error prone than other defenders, but he loved playing for us and gave us some decent service when he was fit. Lags
He was a good servant for the Latics and Latics were good to him also. He'll get a clap should he return and I would hope we get a player in that will give us more.

boundaryblue80
Still think he would've been very useful back up, with a proper pre-season and reserve set-up in place for him. Alas, our loss is someone elses gain!

Alas, our loss is someone elses gain! You're right - but if I was him I'd think I was too good to be playing for Oldham's reserves! Good luck to him, hope he gets a successful move.
