Harry Kewell trains with Latics

Former Liverpool star Harry Kewell is training with League One

Oldham.<QA1>

The Australian winger is without a club having failed to agree a new

deal with Turkish giants Galatasaray.<QA1>

Kewell, 31, is keen to return to England and is going through pre-season

training with the Latics in a bid to keep in shape.<QA1>

He is friends with Oldham's new boss Paul Dickov, who has allowed him to

get fit with his squad.<QA1>

The Australian endured a miserable World Cup which included a red card

in the draw with Ghana.<QA1>

And now he is desperate to get fixed up with a new club. Galatasaray are

still interested in keeping Kewell but have only offered him a one-year

deal.<QA1>

He is looking for a two-year contract and is now willing to move back to

England to spend more time with actress wife Sheree Murphy.<QA1>

Most Leeds fans wouldn't want him back, they were annoyed at him for being a greedy b*st*rd even before he signed for Galatasaray.

Far too late a response. Spent too long laughing at the 'Harry Kewell HAS BETRAYED ALL LEEDS FANS BY SIGN FOR GALATASARAY!!!!! ' facebook page thing.

It is Warren Feeney where the connection comes in rather than Dickov, they are big mates from their time together at Leeds. Best men at the weddings etc.

Edit: sorry Ulster1982 beat me to it!

Kewell was rated at like £20mil when he was at Leeds, but Leeds were going down the crapper so Liverpool negotiated a deal for £5mil, but there was a 'clause in Kewell's contract or something so Kewell and his agent managed to pocket £3mil of the transfer fee leaving Leeds with only £2mil for their one time best player.

No one's suggesting we're signing him, or even trying to.

Exactly... He's having a bit of a jog with our team to keep the fitness up. No quotes to say "it's my dream to play at Latics with Scholes" or anything like that.

Nice to have him around the team though, I'd imagine it would be a bit of excitement for the younger players and can only be a good thing.

Yeah, just what Taylor needs, a sicknote left winger to look up to.

Exactly. If it’s even true in the first place like….

McGrath, Millar, Taylor, Smalley, Colbeck……….if they pick up one little thing from watching, playing alongside, being schooled & coached by him; then it’s only a good thing really.
