LaticsLee
Does anyone think West Ham United moving five miles to Olympic Stadium is really going to get flagged under these rules ? or is in anyway similar to MK Dons ? Not a chance... The rules are there. they have broken them. nothing similar to MK Dons.
oafc0000
The rules are there. they have broken them. nothing similar to MK Dons. Which rule have they broke ? Moving a couple of mile doesn't stop them being West Ham... The distance is hardly huge ... You saying Fulham, West Ham and Tottenham have to stick to their locality to that degree... They will never be able to expand or grow... Its just a silly suggestion. The rule is there to stop West Ham moving to Southampton... singe
Does anyone think West Ham United moving five miles to Olympic Stadium is really going to get flagged under these rules ? or is in anyway similar to MK Dons ? Not a chance... West Ham are a London team and should be given the freedom to move anywhere within London they feel is right. By saying any London team should stick so rigidly to their locality in the suggested way would be seriously unfair and would stop any chance of that club competing. Are we ready to accept that Latics moving all the way to Failsworth should be banned under the rules ? That move is even further away... For a start it's less than two miles. Th issue is it's the already close proximity, and then subsidised tickets to fill the place. I agree Failsworth was a risk, but that is the opposite example. A much better parrallel wouild be Man City moving to Chadderton to a 60K stadium, and giving away free tickets to kids. How would Latcis fans feel about that, and what would it do to Latics. We'd want SC to fight it all the way. As a seperate issue, I think you are shrinking London. Londoners feel belonging to certain areas, there is as much antipathy from an East End West ham fan to a South of the River Palace Fan and defaintely Millwall fan as there is City and United. The fans are more spread due to migration, but they still originate from those areas. Apart from the floating Premier Greed followers, and we can't count tham as real fans. Pre announcment, the majority of West Ham fans werre against the move themselves. Edited April 26, 2011 by singe

You seriously suggesting that West Ham moving a couple of miles is going to destroy Leyton Orient any more than they are already doing. Its a four mile walk from Leyton to West Ham... Leyton to Olympic Stadium is 3 miles... Weak argument and its going to go nowhere imo.
Diego_Sideburns
Does anyone think West Ham United moving five miles to Olympic Stadium is really going to get flagged under these rules ? or is in anyway similar to MK Dons ? If West Ham are relegated, I think the Football League would find it very difficult to disagree with Orient's contention that the Hammers playing in the Olympic Stadium would adversely affect it. If the Football League was to allow West Ham to play there it would not enhance the reputation of The League and promote the game of association football generally. If Spurs become occupants of the Olympic Stadium, it would have the same adverse effect on Orient, but be outside the Football League's jurisdiction. But west ham moving so close to them would be the end of a great club. you think that is fair ?

oafc0000
ok Boundary Park is about 12 miles from Old Trafford and 7 miles from City of Manchester... Do you think moving closer to either of them is really going to have any more of an impact than they already have on us... With Failsworth project we have been forced to ask these questions and the answer is almost certainly no... You either want to watch a small team representing the place you live or you want the glitz and glamour of the prem... Distance isn't a major factor in the grand scheme... Specially in a place like London with their transport system. You can be at the other side of the city within 10-15 mins on the tube... Killens_physio
its not that I think its fair... I don't accept it will be the catalyst to end Leyton Orient... It wont make a blind bit of difference to Orient who plays there. They have their hardcore and loyal support just like we do so i dont think attendances will suffer that much either, especially when you consider that due to its proximity to Brisbane Road, its very unlikely Orient and West Ham/Spurs will be at home of the same weekends. Senor_Coconut
All Barry Hearn wants is his slice of the pie, all this tugging on heartstrings about poor little Leyton Orient is a front for getting Orient some of this Olympic money. He’s a man with big balls and big pockets, chasing his investment and looking for a fluke to give him an unexpected pot. He’s taking his cue from the Football League’s house rules, and hoping to get all the players around a baize-covered table, for match play round the angles, while he makes his stance trying the odd swerve. Then he’ll play the percentages and try to go for a maximum break, by dislodging the Hammers from their comfy bottom cushion. He’ll threaten to break off, get as far as the centre spot, go to the bridge, get an extension, keep miscuing with deliberate fouls, draw the baulk-line and then break and run. After chalking up a stun run-through and leaving with a cocked-hat double, to give him a total clearance, he’ll follow through with some free-stroking position play, plant a double kiss on Karen Brady and go for a rest, with the proceeds in his side pocket.
