Ackey
Thing is, people bang on about needing national pride and celebrate things like St George's Day but then belittle the Wedding. Personally I don't give a :censored: about either, aside from the historical significance of the Wedding. I just enjoy the irony.
pukka
Maybe because the national pride would be exactly that. Pride in a nation - rather than pride in the fact that someone born to "reign over us" is getting married. This bloke is just doing it to get on TV - "Diana would be proud" on a T-Shirt. Just designed to get on TV. Naming a dead woman on a T-shirt to get on TV like that is sick. Edited April 26, 2011 by pukka

The monarchy is intrinsic to this nations identity and thus any pride in it should be a pride in relation them.
pukka
Not really. There was a revolution in France. They did it for the people and had plenty of national pride, I'd say more so. There was an American revolution. Only two "National anthems" at the world cup were songs about a leader rather than the nation. One was England. One was North Korea. Its things like the monarchy and the national anthem that make me lose all national pride. Edited April 26, 2011 by pukka
leeslover
If it brings the Daily Express back into Diana mode it will have done enough to lighten my mood, thinking about The Peoples Princess taking an henry of gak and a yard of cock before breakfast.
