Wakefield - Oldham RIP

Recommended Posts

First of all I would like to thank Craig for what he has put, so kind of you. Yes, that made me giggle when you mentioned Earl Barrett, he always said that!!

And secondly I would like to thank poeople on here for their kind words, it means so much to me and his family at this moment in time, its so hard to think he wont ever be here again, but he's free from pain now with the Cancer he had even though it wasnt that he died from.

Thirdly I would like to thank Latics for what they are doing, hopefully there will be a short note in the programme on Tuesday night about him and yesterday his oldest friend Gaz went to BP to ask for a copy of Mouldy Old Dough becuase thats what we want at his funeral, anyway they dont have a copy but its sorted now but when he was there he was telling the groundsman about Martin and he went away and came back with some grass cuttings from the pitch so we could put it in his coffin, I know its small thing to some people but to our martin it would mean the world to him.

His daughter is only 5 and she doesnt understand but his son is 8 years old and he is here with me at the moment and I think its starting to sink in now.

Thank you once again for your kind words. he was one in a million our kid and have a lifetime of memories we can look back on and have a giggle or cry about.

Me and Heath are so glad that his last 4 days were spent with us and on Saturday night we had such a good old belly laugh at some of the memories of following Latics (Heath a big latics fan aswell) its was unreal, such good times and memories that will live with me forever.

When we finally can come to terms with this we are taking Nathan his son to Latics to watch a match,Martin used to take him before he lost his job and money got tight, and its going to be like the good old days becuase there will be plenty of his mates who will tag along aswell.

Thank you

Janet x

Just re read what you have put and it was me who's favorite player was Vic Halom his was Andy Ritchie, we asked him that and Heath said his was Simon Stainrod and when I said mine was Vic Halom he *tutted*!!

Oh, and he was by far the best footballer the world had ever seen Craig  Once he went to watch Latics train and the ball came over to him and he took control of the ball did a few keepy uppies a bit of showboating and passed the ball back on the pitch and Joe Royle said to him *Aye, your a good little fottbalelr you* well he was so made up he never ever got over that, he was chuffed to bits that Joe Royle had confirmed that yes, he was the worlds best footballer!!

My sincere condolences go out to you all. I had the pleasure of meeting Martin a couple of times and exchanged messages with him. Cracking fella.

I have spoken to Craig and said If there is anything I can do at this terrible time just ask, im always happy to help out where a latics fan is concerned.

My thoughts are with you.

So it isn't just me then? Better than visualising him sitting there without the outfit on! Sheesh!

Sincere condolences on your sad loss Janet! RIP Martin!

Never met the guy one to one but recognise the picture and I think he was always there when I went away. A lot younger than me so our paths never really crossed but he always seemed happy and jovial when I did see him.

Really sorry Janet but respect for your dignity in this unlike some others at present. RIP Martin god bless.
