I live abroad. Who do you support? No one knows. Who's your favourite ever player? No one knows.

 

Conversation over. They turn back to the TV screen to watch Toure, Herrera, Henderson run around tirelessly, fit as thoroughbreds and think that's football and think they're footballers.

 

I sip my pint content at my privilege. Privilege at having spent a few years watching John Sheridan play football for my club.

 

The best player I've seen on any pitch, in any league, in any country on earth.
