Coincidence or of significance?

Recommended Posts

As far as I can remember since we lost to Lincoln we have played 22 league games and we have conceded just 3 first half goals in that time. Is there any significance in the disproportionate number of second half goals and penalties we concede?

That sounds as though we are disproportionately good in the first half rather than have a serious problem in the second half

It's the lack of goals that's causing our problems

our defence and midfield work hard but it must be pretty soul destroying to see chance after chance wasted ( or at least good positions). Eventually the pressure tells and once we go a goal behind it is hard for anyone to think we will respond ...they must have zero faith in our strikers

unless we sort things out up front next season we will struggle again.....even in League 2

Having done their homework the opposition know we have little fire-power but remain cautious in attacking us during the first half.

By half-time they realise how piss poor we truly are in attack, more so than they first thought, and the opposition change their tactics to get more people forward

The result is we have more goals scored against us second half.

Simples :smoking:

Last season it was the other way round before Shez and Gerrard came in. Often would start brightly then concede some awful goal and you could see the confidence drain from the forwards.

Looking ahead we have some decent players signed up already for next season, especially in defence. If only we could find a goal scorer, we might hit the dizzy heights of 16th.
