How come we sign supposedly top players from other clubs and they seem to benefit more than us? Lundstram from Alty who are 5th on 28 pts Ward from Gateshead who are 8th on 26 Hobson from Southend who would be 5th but for their 10 pt deduction Willoughby from Chester who are one pt outside play-offs with game in hand on a couple Norwood from Barnsley who are 3rd in League 1 and the division's top scorers Is Boundary Park cursed? Theories anyone.

Banks signed by Mellon and helped Tranmere to promotion to League 1. What do we know!

Tranmere fans have said the same thing. He is firm but fair, won't tolerate slackers and fools. You don't get 5 promotions on your CV by being a soft touch. -

If, Heaven forbid, we lose to Alty, Dale and Fylde he might get flattened by the boo bus. -

I seem to recall he had Tranmere playing some bright, attacking football in his first spell. Second time around he was hamstrung by the owner being a bit of a pillock. His overall record suggests he knows how to win. 45 per cent career win rate is pretty damn good. Let's hope he can quickly sort out our team of mard arses. -

Or his younger brother Nine Hag, or his ugly sister Old Hag. -

The new man may be en route to BP, having verbally agreed, just waiting to formally sign. Could be waiting to be introduced to players/staff before announcement. A myriad of perfectly sensible reasons. Why can't we just be patient instead of all this speculation, some of which has now descended into s**t stirring from the usual suspects. -
Got Blackpool up to L1, narrowly missed out with Salford and was Scottish Championship manager of the season after getting Dundee promotion last season.

Or, quite simply, he didn't want to go back to his old job.

The pod boys also repeatedly say that they are aware of major differences between what DU and ST felt was needed and on the final choices. -
What’s needed in the squad
Boyyou replied to League one forever's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
Still can't understand why we didn't really push for Tylor Golden and/or Reagan Ogle instead of Freeman; Chris Conn-Clarke instead of Dickenson and Kamil Conteh rather than renew Gardner and Hope. That would surely have left enough in the budget for another CM and a winger. And don't get me started on a left-footed CB/LB as we have absolutely no cover for Kitching -

A highly regarded young coach. Perhaps his wife could join him and manage Latics girls/women.! -

Agree with this, Yarddog. Action to strengthen squad is urgently needed, be it ST or whoever is in charge. Still think he and NR can do a job, but 3 or 4 players a must. Don't want to sound like an old fart, Yarddog, but can we have a little less of the effing and jeffing. You make perfectly valid points without it. Mind you, I know some of these players do drive you to distraction! -

Mentioned this on another thread, Diggle. He's saying 3 or 4 new recruits - and the time is now, new manager or not. Him and NR know where we are weak and must surely be highlighting this to the board. No matter who is in charge, it is clear that this squad will not get us up. Drastic action needed, starting in midfield. -
MATCH: Dagenham and Redbridge (H) 07/10/23

Interesting listening to ST post match. He says it as we see it. Suggests players have to stand up and be counted, be braver in possession, not switch off after a good 10 minute spell. Reckons we need 4 new players who can handle possession and get the team on the front foot - and that will be the case no matter who is manager. Sounds like DU wanted work horses signing and ST wants ballers. Fresh blood cannot be delayed if we are to have a prayer of making top 7. -

Phil Parkinson (Wrexham) and Luke Williams (Notts County) had never managed at this level. In fact, Williams got Swindon relegated from League 1. Don't buy this 'must have experience of this level'. If you are a decent coach, a good fit for the club and have the board's backing, you should be able to take this club forward. -
Had a cracking pre-match hour in the pub with a few of theirs on our last visit. Nobody deserves dickhead owners like they, and we, have had to endure.

Surprised GMP didn't insist on an all-ticket match.

MATCH: Kidderminster Harriers (A) 26/09/23

They went seven games without a win, including our smash and grab at their place, and struggled for goals. Think their squad is stronger this time, but we know this is a tough, unrelenting division and anyone can beat anyone. -

ST said Lundstram thought he was ready but the physios were not as convinced and didn't want to rush it. Suspect another week of training should put him close to a squad place, if not this Saturday then for the following game. Certainly need him and Ward back to offer options in a busy schedule.
