Think this is the 1st time I've felt I've had to vote down someone's post. He's played 3 games and already people are making their mind up about him. We're a young team that's only recently been thrown together occasionally they'll play badly, other times they'll no doubt be fantastic, we have a manager that wants to play the right way, it's won't always work but get behind the team and players and it's sure as hell gonna be better than the dross we've had to witness previous seasons.

But do we want two terrible right backs on our books.

According to Tranmere fans their current right back is terrible, yet they still didn't bother signing Chimbonda so not for me.

I'd imagine he's realised like the rest of us what are useless manager Dickov is, and I'm sure he realises a far better opportunity then Dickov and Doncaster will be around the corner. Dickov turned what was on paper I very decent league 1 team into relegation fodder, I reckon Baxter would realise this also.

I'd imagine that LJ would've known their was a big chance he was gonna go during this window and I'd expect him to have irons in the fire.

If they don't know the amount of the release clause, i think Jose needs to sack his agent.

Too be honest I'm just surprised we've actually managed to keep him here till now. He's a class above at this level and thought he'd be gone before the season started.

Not a chance, when I thought it was just Doncaster interested I wasn't too worried, i didn't think Jose would fancy another stint under Dickov and chances are they'd be back in league 1 next year. If Bolton and Burnley have triggered his release clause then we're screwed, can't see him passing the opportunity to play for an established championship club on far better wages then he's on here. I'd hate to see him go but if he does it'd be good if we managed to get a centre back and midfielder to the team.

The way we play now as enjoyable as it is, leaves the defence exposed, which for me makes it even more of a priority to get a proper centre back in rather than Mellor who's still learning the position. We played well 1st half but with the penalty shouts and them missing a couple of great opportunities on another day we could have lost by 4 or 5. With our defence the way it is at the moment I'm expecting at some point this season to be on the end of a hammering and maybe on a few occasions. We don't necessarily need a centre back with the passing ability of Xavi more often than not our centre backs play short passes into the midfield, I'm sure we can find someone that is a bit more defensively sound then Mellor but can still pass a bit.

City doesn't bother me, or Utd for that matter, it's the glory hunting armchair supporters in our town that does. Having said that greedy league fans in general annoy me, which is ironic because unrealistic as it is if we found ourselves in the championship then that would be the next dream. Things such as tuning into the radio to listen to post game phone ins and all you get is premier league muppets phoning in and the premiership ain't even started yet, usually discussing the same old boring topics such as Bale, Suarez and Rooney. It's been done to death can't they just go and hide under a stone and leave the football league supporters to air their views until their league actually starts. Rant over.

No wonder our attendances are crap, every buggers in Florida.

Not sure but I believe Penney built almost his entire team with this method.

As much as I like Byrne I'm not sure if he fits LJ's style of play, that's why Mellor has had as much game time as he's had. Mellor is a worry and if possible I'd eventually like us to sign a footballing centre back that has a bit of pace if that means an unproven loan from a higher division then so be it.

Even though I would still play him as centre back in the hope he improves, having watched him against Accrington he's an accident waiting to happen. His positioning was shocking and on two occasions in the first half he got on the wrong side of the striker and only a last ditch tackle prevented them having a 1v1 opportunity.

Well yeah that would work. Does anyone know how much the buy out clause is?

I'd imagine the 2nd part is fairly obvious. If the club receives an offer that meets their valuation then chances are they're gonna accept it, if a recicilius offer came in well below their valuation then I'd imagine they'd reject. Although I guess you never know with latics.

Always looks like a player that's short on confidence does Brown, seems to just play a lot of sideways and backward passes lately. Often you see him link up with the right winger, and have acres of space to run into but he just doesn't make the run.

Seems quite a few worry about sid's defensive part of his game, which I can understand but for me he's a skillful winger with pace to burn. I think it's just a case of adapting formations so he doesn't need to defend and can concentrate on what he's best at. Maybe 4231 with two holding midfielders allowing them to help the full backs or 433 with the wide cm's doing the job. Either way many teams play with wingers who aren't the best defenders. Walcott and Ronaldo spring to mind.

I'd play Mellor and Tarky. Ok Mellor has been a bit of a worry during preseason, but if LJ sees him as our eventual ball playing centre back then he will only improve the more matches he plays. We play a high defensive line so playing Byrne their who has no pace might be just as suicidal.

Or he'll remain at Swindon, score against us later in the season, and we'll receive glowing praise on what a fantastic job we did on getting his match fitness back.

It's not all that bad having a player called Rooney signing, I had a sneaky bet with an asian Man U fan at work saying Rooney will end up signing for Latics. Obviously he found this rather amusing and said not a chance in hell. I just forgot to mention which Rooney doubt he'll pay up though when he finds out.

Does anyone know when his contract dispute will get resolved and I presume he won't be available to play on in the league until it has. I'll be gutted if he doesn't sign considering the amount of playing time he's been given.
