  1. Like who? Brown seems a terrible choice I'd have more faith in our fortunes if we employed your good self rather than Brown
  2. You could say we're pretty much doomed. Brown couldn't turn Preston's fortunes around he doesn't fill me with hope that he would turn our fortunes around also.
  3. Ok maybe not always getting teams relegated because he usually gets the sack with his team in or around the relegation places, happened at Sunderland, Leeds, Coventry, and Plymouth although at Leeds and Plymouth things went on beyond his control. Still his managerial record doesn't fill me with confidence.
  4. Please no, never filled me with confidence in his previous jobs and can I be the 1st to say he'll take us down
  5. Peter Reid no thanks seems to have had a history of getting teams relegated in the last few years his successful stints at manager came years ago at sundrland and Citeh and too long ago to fill mexwith confidence I'd rather go down the new and untested manager if Reid was our only option
  6. Maybe, but it could be unfinished business he was harshly treated by Moore, the only time he had a half decent budget to work with he had floating around near the top not the league and gets the boot. Plus anyone that managed to get Mark Hotte to play like a semi decent footballer can't of been too bad.
  7. Been thinking of potential replacements, obviously I'd have someone like Grayson at the drop of a hat but doubt We'd get him. Phil Brown who's been mentioned by others doesn't really float my boat seems to have been a big failure everywhere other than Hull and even that didn't end well. So what about trying to get Stitch back always thought he did an admirable Job last time given the resources he had and coupled with the fact the division back then imo was a lot tougher than it is now. Just think it might bring some of the stayaways back get everyone pulling in the right direction and improve the whole atmosphere around the place. Thoughts?
  8. This! I any new manager would want to bring in his own staff, while Dickov's job is in the balance nothing will happen
  9. Nathan Ellington just been released by ipswitch
  10. It'll be typical latics, we'll sign no one and it'll all be the usual damp squid after getting everyone's hopes up
  11. Yeah the football under Ronnie wasn't the best, but if i remember rightly he came in helped us avoid relegation, then in his 1st full season we finished just outside the play offs. I thought then and i still think now he should have been given longer. Dickov has a terrible record yet he's still in his job yet both Moore and Sheridan who had pretty much decent records were sacked, although Sheridan's sacking was probably more to do with non footballing reasons.
  12. Well Huddersfield are now playing in the championship, i'd be more than happy with that especially in our current situation. Tranmere are sitting top of league 1 and i wouldn't be surprised if they'll be playing in the championship next year also, although that could all change, yet they're doing it on a shoe string and with a manager many of our supporters and board deemed useless.
  13. Every club we seem to take the piss out off, goes on to have success we could only dream off! Wigan Blackpool Huddersfield Tranmere. Think it's time we kept our mouths shut. Oh and where have all the Ronnie haters gone, it seems when we get an half decent manager we hound them out of the club, (we as in the fans and the board). i.e Sheridan, Moore being primary examples all had us more often than not at the right end of the table.
  14. Stadium name - Hollinwood Bowl. Sounds perfect.
  15. As bad as Boundary park is, surely it's better than Curzon or Stalybridge. I cant help thinking he want's us out, so he can sell BP, take whatever money he's owed, and leave, which will basically leave us screwed.
  16. Yeah this is my main worry, with SC seemingly so peed off with the stadium situation, plus the really poor gates this season, i can see the team being broken up, which would be a crying shame to be honest.
  17. Great news, one of those players that gets you on the edge of your seat, just hope we can tie him down to a longer contract at the end of the season. We really do have a good young squad, regardless if we dont go up this season, i think if we can keep the majority of this team together, then next season could be our year.
  18. Yeah i know it's not full of hooligans, but convincing my nephews parents their are none and their kids will be fine is a different matter. I've put my wife on the case she's asian and i've took her to a few Latics games in the past so she knows the deal. I also thought i'd ask my asian bro inlaw he's a liverpool fan but never ever been to a match in his life, i thought for £2 he'd jump at the opportunity of watching live football, but no, he said it'll be too cold and he much prefers to watch his football on TV. This is what you're up against.
  19. Just hope they put on a performance, to get the floaters back, i'm trying to bring 3 of my nephews to the game, they're asian, so there parents are worried about them attending a football match, although i've reassured the parents, they have an image it's full of hooligans.
  20. Saddleworth is in the borough of Oldham, i'd have no qualms about Oldham playing in Saddleworth, or anywhere else within a couple of miles of the town.
  21. Yeah i agree, just a very physical team that utilised the hoof ball tactic pretty well, only one team that tried to play football, but the 1st half in general and after they scored, we too played to direct for my liking.
  22. Even better, offload it to some company that will build a load of seedy adult shops.
  23. 1-1 is a disappointing result, but overall i'm fairly happy with the performance, we're a young team thats prone to mistakes, but we're playing good football and it's enjoyable to see, compare that to Dagenham's hoof ball, or our team last season, i'll take this any day of the week. We may make play-offs, but even then i think we'll not go up. I just hope though that SC sticks with it, and tries to keep this team together as much as possible, because i think if he does next season could be special. Especially if we can keep hold of Taylor, and Morais.
  24. Gonna be setting off in 15 mins, taking my 5yr old daughter to her first game, she's so excited, she's been wearing her Latics top since 9am this morning, asking every 5 minutes if it's time to go yet. Poor girl doesn't know what she's letting her in for.
  25. I found Latics by being a typical glory hunter, my dad was never into football, as a kid i grew up and followed Liverpool, they were the best and i didn't know better, to be honest i can't ever recall ever really knowing about Oldham Athletic. When i was 11 or 12 my step dad took me to my first ever football match, Bury v Fulham, i think it finished 0-0 all i remember was being bored out of my skull. Then it was around 3 years later, i was 14 or 15, and my mate's sister's boyfriend who was a Forest fan was taking my mate to watch Oldham v Southampton the carling cup replay, at the time i didn't know about Latics previous exploits in the cup that year. My mate asked me i'f i'd go with him, so i did along with two more friends. They took me into the Chaddy and we all stood somewhere at the back, i remember the noise made hairs on the back of my neck stand up. We won the game 2-0 but the result for me wasn't important i was hooked, this was nothing like the Bury v Fulham match i'd witnessed. I think i went to two more games that season, then the season after i went to pretty much every home game and witnessed our promotion to the top flight, all the games i went to were with my two mates, and every moment we talked about football and Oldham. My two mates have now become armchair Man U supporters, yet i stayed true to Latics, so i now either attend games on my own, or i'd take my 16 year old daughter if she fancies it, but lately think she's gone off the football, tomorrow i'll be taking my 5 year old daughter to her first game.
