  1. Last night was special. It is very rare that an international can genuinely erouse the emotions to the extent that watching LAtics can but last night surpassed anything I can remember. The atmosphere in the second half was amazing. The fans came together as one as all club afinity was put to one side. I hope the press don't go overboard. This is simply a step in the right direction but at the same time we mustn't underestimate quite what we achieved. Croatia looked poor last night but we made them look poor. We could have won by a wider margin with more rub of the green and I suspect that the rest of Europe will have been quite shaken by the result and performance. I couldn't believe that he Capello had thrown Walcott in to such a big game last night and saw it as a blatant error. Clearly, unlike Ronnie Moore, I'm not a football genius.
  2. Some think she is horny When she's shagging Beckham She thinks of Simon Corney She's got new fake t*ts When she's shagging Beckham She thinks of Simon Blitz
  3. I think the fella known as "Oaf" is the main instigator of the Zigga Zagga chant. We don't want to start some 'I'ma bigger Zigga Zagga than you are!
  4. Many congratulations to young Tom. I'd ask you to post a copy on here but as we all know, due to techical contraints, the coulours wouldn't show up properly.
  5. I can only presume that they were letting everyone know what they want for their birthdays SMP As long as they have some adult supervision, I'm sure it'll be fine. On a serious note, clearly I'm not 'down with the kids'. What the hell is this?
  6. If you get there more than an hour before kick-off, just park on the main road. I've never had a problem. It makes for an early get away. You should easily be back in Oldham for quarter to six
  7. Just to keep everyone up to date, sorry we have not updated the site for the trip to Colchester. It will be on by the end of the week but due to the amount of time that has been taken up with the aftermath of the Lee situation on Saturday, it has had to take a back seat. Thanks everyone for your continued support.
  8. I thought it was only 2-0 but I can't be bothered looking it up. I remember the Leeds fans getting locked in after the game and starting to crush their own fans at the back of the RRe until the stewards had no choice but to let them out. I also remember on female Latics fan in her 50s ending up in hospital after taking a beating as she walked past the back of the stand. Lovely chaps those Leeds fans
  9. Lets have a few of these golden oldies tomorrow and some of the other old favourites that tend to get a drunken airing when Matt turns up! No Ney Never (with the verses) Posh Spice... Prizes for anyone who could come up with something for Danny Whittaker
  10. The game has not been moved which I personally think is very poor. I appreciate that many people do not care about England (although I still believe that most would suddenly gain an interest if by some miracle we found ourselves in the latter stages of a tournament which probably makes them the same as glory hunting red ******ds -OK, maybe it does annoy me slightly ) but some of us do. It is not right in my opinion that anyone should be asked to make a choice between watching England and watching their club sides. I will be in Barcelona and so will miss one of our games of the season but this was booked before last season finished so it was a case of taking a gamble. It usually pays off, this time it didn't. With a bit of luck, Davies will be a late call up to the Welsh squad, Fleming will get a Scotland U21 call and, along with Eardley's U21 berth, we'll have the three internationals we need to get the game called off.
  11. The CEO of Sainsbury’s today spoke out following below expected sales figures from the last week’s trading. This just isn’t good enough, said Mr CEO, the public need to support us so that we can continue to stock the best products. For years, we accept that we have been stocking below standard goods but this year we have really pushed the boat out and are now stocking Heinz baked beans alongside our own brand variety. I was expecting this to lead to a significant increase in sales but we are now in our second week since we re-opened and still they are not coming. Unless we see an immediate improvement in profits, we will take the Heinz beans back off the shelf. In an exclusive interview with a shopper outside Asda, we were told “I’d started to hear good things about Sainsbury’s but I am used to going to Asda. If Mr CEO takes the Heinz beans off the shelf, that doesn’t make the slightest bit of difference to me, because I shop at Asda. I must admit, I did consider going to Sainsbury’s in the next few weeks as they are now stocking goods that I thought I might like, but hearing this, I don’t know what I’ll find when I get there, so I’ll probably stick to what I know”. Leaving Sainsbury’s at lunchtime today, a shopper told us “This is very disappointing news. I’ve always shopped at Sainsbury’s and in the last couple of weeks it has been a very enjoyable experience. It would be terrible if we had to go back to those own brand beans again. I’ve told all my friends about how good it has become and it would be very sad if they followed by suggestion that they should try it for themselves, only to find that the quality had slipped again.”
  12. I admit that I haven't read all 7 pages of this so sorry if I'm repeating things. I do not understand why Simon comes out with this on such frequent occasions. I fully appreciate that they are funding the club and that it must be disappointing when you see the crowds that we are attracting but his way of doing it is nonsensical. Clearly, the statement is aimed at those who don't go but must of those don't give two hoots about the club and many more have nothing more than a passing interest. What's the point of making threats to these people that we will sell players... THEY DON'T CARE! This is the wrong way to attract people, there's no point telling them to come and at the same time telling them that we are probably about the weaken the squad. There are many reasons why the crowd was down on Saturday; holidays, bank holiday weekend, Leeds festival. Look at other crowds around the country. Newcastle had their lowest league attendance since they redeveloped the ground. Huddersfield had an attendance of three thousand less than the number of season tickets they sold. Selling Taylor now would be a crazy thing to do. Crowds would drop further and we would be back into the viscious circle. If we keep winning and playing as we are, crowds will start to increase. If we're doing well, people will want to be a part of it. I know it is easy for me to say but it is time to KEEP THE FAITH!
  13. That seems like a good plan. "Off you go kids, go and sit with Grandad Sideburns"
  14. I love posts from fans who tell us just how well they are playing, then it come out (I'm assuming that this guy doesn't communte from Barcelona) they don't actually go to games. It's normall Reds but clearly spainboy wants to be like a Red.
  15. What kind of forum do you think this is? Introducing yourself as a housewife who is left home alone each day There's some on here who might just get the wrong idea. Remember lads, it's her husband's log in so there's a fair chance that he might be the one reading the PMs!
  16. Was it not something to do with Wadsworth in the shower?
  17. Rubbish, lets crucify them. Derby must have averaged about a three nil defeat last season so if we don't beat them by four or five, the players will need to take a long hard look at themselves. We also need to make it clear to that Jamaican bloke that he isn't welcome round here. We can't have people with pace and skill disrupting the pattern of play. Chaddy End Boo Boys, we are here!
  18. Terry's account of today's funeral along with a number of very moving photo's has now been added to the Ernieflag site. Thankyou Terry, very much appreciated.
  19. The site has now been updated following the trip over to Grimsby
  20. Anyone who went to Rhyl on Wednesday will no doubt have seen the new flag that a group of us have had made in memory of Ernie. Nine Latics fans, the majority of us regular posters on this forum, have clubbed together to buy a ten foot flag as can be seen below. We have bought this to keep the memory of Ernie alive but also to try and promote the fight against skin cancer. To this end we have set up a website www.ernieflag.co.uk The concept behind the flag is that we will take it to every game Oldham play this season and on top of that to every England international that does not clash. We hope to be able to generate publicity and are going to request that each club we visit put a small article in their programme explaining what the flag is for and promoting the website. The website contains an article about Ernie, a piece on Malignant Melanoma (including links to two charities fighting against the cancer) and the story of the first leg of the ‘Ernieflag Tour’. We shall be updating it after each leg of the tour and will be putting a gallery on showing pictures of the flag at every ground. While the website is clearly written from a Latics point of view, we feel that it will be of interest to football fans in general and will give other fans an idea of what it is like to follow Oldham Athletic. I hope you enjoy the site. Clearly, we are not website experts but I don’t think it looks too bad. Please feel free to follow our progress over the season. I’m sure most of you will end up on there at some point during the year. If you know of anyone else who may find this interesting, please point them in our direction and if you have any comments about how we can improve the website, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
  21. Who should win it then? Remember it's not all about looks! Shallow, I know, but it's gotta be Warwick for me. Ps. Remind me never to go for a night out in Oxford!
  22. Cheers guys. There are nine of us that have put money into the flag and I for one am really chuffed with it. We have set up a website which will be used for tracking our tour with the flag as well as remembering Ernie and publicising the fight against cancer. It's not quite ready for launch but I will put a link on here either tonight or over the weekend when we're happy with it.
  23. Do you have a link, or at least details of which Fantasy League it is? Cheers
  24. I currently have a ten foot flag on order from 'Barmyflags'. I have gone for a high quality flag so that it will last. It will make its debut the masters and will hopefully be taken to every game this season (plus as many England games as do not clash with Latics). There are currently ten of us taking joint ownership for the flag. If anyone else wants to chip in because they want to make a gesture but cannot afford to buy their own flag, please PM me. We are looking for seventeen people to put a tenner each in. If we end up with more than that, that isn't a problem, we will simply give the excess money to charity. The flag is a a George Cross with the Latics badge in the top left quadrant, Ernie Cooksey across the middle and 1980 2008 in the bottom two quadrants.
  25. I much prefer a minute's silence but unfortunately, I feel that the circumstances of it being Millwall (who will probably bring a fair few for the 1st game of the season) and the fact that Lee Hughes is likely to be on the pitch, mean that we should probably go for the applause. I'd hate to think of the silence being ruined by a minority of idiots.
