  1. Past experience tells me their away following is very poor, compared to ours at least anyway.
  2. Stockport will never bring more than 2,000...If they bring more than 1,500 I'd be very surprised.
  3. What was harsh is that the teacher apparently said the comment maliciously - the class were being rowdy so to shut them up she came out with that ! That's what's really annoying...if she just made an honest mistake I for one wouldn't have been as annoyed. Having said this, I don't think it would be right if the teacher lost her job over this one incident.
  4. Where did the Yorkshire version that we sing with so much vigor originate from ? First place I heard it at was Oldham at Millmoor a few years back I think...but where did it originate from ? Somebody's probably now going to pipe up and tell me that the song's older than Diego Sideburns and then I will feel like a numpty. I can't honestly recall hearing it pre...say...2005. The anti-Yorkshire songs before then seem to have been 'You Dirty Yorkshire.....' (the first football song I remember ) or that one about going to the pub get plastered, go sign on, beat the wife, dirty Yorkshire...
  5. Not sure about that fella. Bugby did Latics for years and then Yarwood took over, with Bugby then covering City and United. Roughyeds are covered by Matthew Chambers (excellent reporter) who took over from Roger Halstead, who had covered the 'Yeds for years and years.
  6. Can't believe how long Nigel Clough has stayed at Burton for.
  7. Bed, wrong, of, side....? Have Leeds actually come out and said they want Shez ?? It's just speculation from the fans and media at this point isn't it ? You're a man close to my heart....we all hate Leeds, we all hate Leeds, we all hate Leeds repeat with gusto x 1000
  8. I am disappointed but totally unsurprised that the 'No' prevailed...I had voted 'yes'. The whole vote just became a vote on the congestion charge and not the TIF. It's a shame we've missed out on such a big and much-needed slice of cash...because make no mistake about it, the congestion charge will come in at some point in the future, only when it does we probably won't have the Investment that would have come with it this time.
  9. My mate's little 'un was in this class with the supply teacher...his kid was distraught at what she said and naturally my mate was fuming....I think it's bang out of order what the teacher has done. For those of us who aren't exactly practicing Christians, Christmas is all about kids, and for kids Christmas is all about Santa...this idiot has spoilt the magic of Christmas too early for those kids.
  10. I reckon we'll have close to 8,000 home fans there against Orient...the game's still a week away yet. The club has missed a trick though in not allowing online purchases.
  11. Probably right mate. I think the club will know this though. They've had a bit of bad luck with cancellations, haven't they though.....I'm sure Shez will be as eager as anyone to get the fringe players playing in some reserve games.
  12. 'A bit of a Blur' by Alex James was a good read. I'm not a Blur fan but really enjoyed the book. I've seen a lot of good reviews of Clapton's book. I see on Amazon that Kerry Katona's got six books out - they may keep entertained over Xmas...or maybe not.
  13. Yarwood's reports make miles better reading than Bugby's....but Bugby's been at the Chron a lot longer than Yarwood I think, so they wouldn't have to pay out as much redundancy money by making Yarwood redundant. I wish Yarwood a speedy return to employment. Jeez, people are being made redundant left, right and centre.
  14. Ha haa The pic was taken yesterday according to Sky news and put under their Snow Pics section, but I think it might be from Saturday when it was very foggy.
  15. One of the my Dad's claims to fame is about when I knocked over Terry Hall's can of coke in London Euston around '85 when I was just 4 or 5. Maybe I did it on purpose 'cos I knew he was a big Red.
  16. Too true...so isn't about time we saw the transport system improved ? In some respects this country is a victim of its own success and being the first industrialised and truly developed country in the world. Our Victorian successes now actually hinder our development and progress....small narrow roads, railway bridges that are only large enough for single-decker trains - trains should be all double-decker now like on the continent but it would cost an absolute fortune to upgrade the train network largely because of the amount of bridges that would need altering.
  17. There will most certainly be some negative impact on some businesses in some areas, but if Oldham, Rochdale etc are to aspire to be more than they currently are and want to attract more and bigger and better businesses - which are the key to regenerating the areas and creating more wealth in the area - the transport infrastructure needs to be improved. It could be argued that the TIF proposals will have a positive impact on employment levels and prosperity in the local areas.
  18. I have voted 'Yes'. The proposals should help Oldham and Rochdale etc regenerate, improve and prosper. It's not often this amount of money comes around for investment in transport services, so we should grab it whilst we can. It's a shame that the Transport improvements cannot go ahead without the Congestion Charge, and to some degree I feel we are being held to ransom. But I will still vote yes. There are pros and cons to most aspects of the congestions charge, ultimately in the case of the majority, people will vote according to how the situation will affect them personally. I expect the No vote to win. It is a shame that a lot of those voting No will do so because they are not properly informed and think that the Congestion Charge is a blanket one in operation at all times when in fact it is only in operation for about 2-3 hours in the morning and 2-3 hours in the evening on weekdays only.
  19. Good offer from the club that. They must have read my general point about admission prices in the Bradford 99 quid thread
  20. Just reading that article it states the Trust raised 500k...that reminded me about the amount of fund-raising they and many others did...phenomenal amount. Cracking effort which should not be forgotten. Back to the topic, did we not play Brentford in the league and that was on SKY only a few years back (we're still well overdue an appearance on the box for a League Game though!!)
  21. I think we do get an 'appearance' fee from SKY....pretty sure of that.
