  1. Valley Parade is my favourite Yorkshire away trip...not sure why, just always enjoy it. My other half's a Bratfud supporter...she's gutted that Deano has joined us and would have liked him back at Bratfud.
  2. It's going to reach a balmy 9c on Monday...will feel like Barbados compared to this last fortnight...not getting rid of the thermal vest just yet mind.
  3. If we win remember there's only one drink in hereford to buy - bulmers. get on it. i prefer it to 'bow and magners anyday.
  4. The shoe waving's also been done by Forest and Leeds as well...next we'll be copying United and singing United songs...oh :censored:, we already do that.
  5. I was furiously gesticulating at Schumacher as he walked off the pitch and nearly fell over the barrier and out of the top tier of that away stand !
  6. money talks but it don't sing and dance and it don't walk, but as long as we have lee here with us, i'd much rather be, forever in blue lee hughes.
  7. yeh i remember it saying he was the first in the country to have it used on him. you'd need to give me more than a can of cs before i'd attempt to restrain barrie...machine gun and ten other men as back up perhaps.
  8. Always thought pepper spray was just another name for cs gas. if the big man says it was the candlelight then who am i to disagree...i remember it saying on teletext news that it was the cabaret though.
  9. Wrong pal. Barrie was pepper sprayed outside the cabaret club.
  10. True, but given the general malaise among Latics fans at the moment and considering that home and away attendances are down on previous seasons, I don't think it's too bad at all. Also, I bet there's a fair few who would normally go to Hudds away but can't make it due to family commitments with it being so soon after New Year's Day.
  11. 2,100 now sold so only 400 left according to the OS. Not a bad following. I'm working so cannot go.
  12. Ian Wright's speaking skills are very poor...he made me laugh the other week....he always says ''well, in respect of.....'' and a few weeks ago he was on talksport discussing the ' respect for referees ' issue...he said '' in respect of the respect you've got to respect that respect...''. I suppose you had to be there
  13. True. But we do not have the advantage of having no football clubs of note within a 100 miles or so like they do.
  14. I.ve always preferred town centre pubs in hudds rather than the gas club which can get too rammed. gets tricky to get served.
  15. I know jack all about teles, but 1080p is the standard HD format, isn't it? 720 is not enough to see true HD..
  16. good post fella. oldham's no rougher than the next town. and if anything, it's probably safer now than it's ever been in my lifetime. police and roadblocks may not be the most enticing sight to an outsider but yorkshire st has gone from the 2nd most violent st in grt manc to somewhere which is pretty safe when you think about the amount of pissed up males who saunter up and down. taxi marshalls have really helped too and should be in every town. along with extra police.
  17. It's sad to see the Candlelight closing but it's closing not because of the smoking ban, red tape or Oldham getting rougher as Ken stated...that's a load of tosh and he knows it. The article in the Chron made Ken sound very bitter, which is sad. The fact is, the Candlelight is not what people go out for these days. I was in there a few weeks ago and there must have been 50 people in, tack surroundings, :censored:e DJ and music...it's just not the sort of place that is going to attract people in this day and age...it hasn't changed with the times. I've never seen Oldham as busy as I have over the last few years. Whereas Rochdale and Ashton do seem to be sruggling...probably cos most locals prefer Manchester or even Oldham to places like Rochdale etc. I'm not saying Oldham is where it's all at or anything...it certainly doesn't get me very excited, but you know what to expect and if you've got good company you can have a good night.... it is certainly is faring well compared to other similar towns...there's more busy bars/pubs/clubs in Oldham than there has been for a long time...bit more variation these days as well with live music at the castle, whittles and jackson's, good indie pop down at tokes, and cheese galore in the rest of the place for those that like that sort of stuff.
  18. 'Sick' means 'good' these days, doesn't it ? As in ''awh, Hughesy's goal was proper sick, man''
  19. Bit harsh. The guy couldn't hit a barn door. But he won a few free kicks for us around the penalty area that season..which Eyres would then slam in.
  20. Looks like it'll be a nice following at Crewe if there are only 350 tickets currently left...clearly plenty of OAFC fans don't need much of an excuse to escape the festive family get togethers.
  21. Mild and dry but grey and cloudy in Middleton at the moment.
  22. Been ages since I've seen Zulu - top film though. Bridge on the River Kwai - another good sunday afternoon film.
  23. what sort of attendances are these games attracting ?
  24. Looked to me like some (perhaps not all) of the Latics fan in that particular part of the Cheadle End got what they went looking for.....a good scrap.
  25. Past experience definitely tells me the away following they bring to BP is :censored:e. Credit to them for averaging 900 every away game last year - good effort. Looking at avergae home attendances since the 03/04 season, only once have they averaged more than us and that was last year...granted they've been in L2 since 05/06
