  1. Lags, how are you getting the addresses for sending out the pins. I set up a S.O. from my bank to the account, but I haven't registered my address with any one?
  2. I'd like us to stay up and get past the first round of all the 3 trophies (Carling Cup might be hard dependant on the draw). If we get further in the cups then that's a bonus.
  3. Excellent post, sums the position up nicely.......... Keep the Faith - sorry "We Are Latics"
  4. OMG you've got me really worried now Senor. Is it really that bad?
  5. Surely they have enough "local delicacies" in Bury already!!!!!!
  6. I hope your wrong, but I wouldn't put it past Latics.
  7. Had an email conversation with Alan via email last week and his words were "The marketing plan seems to have done its job creating interest for what will be a significant piece of Latics history" Can't see it being a new club shop, new kit. Maybe new investment or owners!
  8. These are the non-Laticsicised lyrics...... I've been a wild rover for many's the year and I've spent all my money on whiskey and beer. But now I'm returning with gold in great store and I never will play the wild rover no more Chorus: And it's no, nay, never, no, nay, never, no more will I play the wild rover no, never, no more I went into an ale-house I used to frequent and I told the landlady my money was spent. I asked her for credit, she answered me nay, Such "a custom like yours I can have any day Chorus I took from my pocket ten sovereigns bright and the landlady's eyes opened wide with delight. She said I'd have whiskey and wines of the best and the words that she told me were only in jest. Chorus I'll go home to my parents, confess what I've done, and I'll ask them to pardon their prodigal son. And when they've caressed me as oft' times before then I never will play the wild rover no more Chorus X2
  9. Well done Latics, if the monies being received from Southampton allow us pay the other players!! I suspect we have had an up front amount for the permanent move which will happen close season... Business is business!
  10. Glad he's back and I hopehe brings plenty of Good Luck with him!
  11. I remember at Huddersfiled a big fat youth in the stand to our right giving it large. He had no top on and massive manboobs. The Latics fans gave him better back than he was giving by singing "Have you ever seen your dick, have you ever seen your dick". His mates were in stitches but I don;t think the lad was too amused.
  12. My favourite chant was at a match against West Ham at home, around 1986ish. Trevor Morely was making his comeback from an injury. He was injured by his wife who stabbed him when she found him in bed with another man!!!! First corner West Ham got was in front of the Chaddy..... "Theres only one Mrs Morely, one Mrs Morely, there's only one Mrs Morely." To be fair he seemed quite amused by it.....
  13. Can't see Tommyfield being big enough to be honest, wonder if some of the land freed up by St Mary's being knocked down is available for the bowling / cinema, to go alongside the stadium!
  14. Any body got any insider info. regarding the special report that the chronicle is running tonight?
  15. Nice to see ASDA on the list, I will be getting all my weekly shops via this link from now on. That's about £100 per week spend normally.
  16. Here's my email to Michael Meacher: Dear Sir, As my local MP please could you advise me of the best way to put pressure on Oldham M.B.C. to ensure that they answer publicly the criticisms laid out within the Charity Commission report (see attached) on the proposed Failsworth Land Swap. This is one of a series of serious errors that council officers representing my tax money at work have made which will or may at least result in a lawsuit which will cost who knows what amount of money. The Vance Miller case being another recent example. The pounds I pay in tax I pay willingly to share in the long term prosperity of Oldham and its population; however I feel that my money is being wasted at an extraordinarily level by O.M.B.C. Can I refuse to pay a percentage of my Council Tax in a legal manner until they get their house in order? I suspect that the answer is no. The council argue that there is no other plots of land fit for leisure purposes within the Oldham boundaries; I disagree. There is a huge area of land which is currently ear marked for a championship quality golf course by the council. Surely with at least 4 private golf courses within the borough on which golf enthusiasts (of which I am one) can arrange a game of golf for relatively cheap sum of money, there is no need for a council owned golf course. Oldham Athletic is a key PR feature for the town of Oldham. Wherever I go travelling with work you can guarantee that people will have heard of 2 things Oldham Athletic and the Oldham riots. Are there any other towns who are willing to put their flagship businesses at risk. Bury, Huddersfield and Rochdale have all received significant and telling support from their borough council in achieving their best potential; Oldham however would let OAFC rot and die. I live in a town sir which boasts none of the following amenities for its town folk: A cinema A bowling alley An Ice skating rink A roller skating rink or any other such leisure centric facilities. It’s a disgrace and I would very much like your help in taking O.M.B.C. to task for its failings. Yours Sincerely Graham Turner As yet I have had an acknowledgement from his PA, but no response. I only sent it yesterday to be fair!! his email address is: meacherm@parliament.uk I would suggest that the same format using surname and first initial would work for any other MP that you might wish to contact.
  17. Surely it's their job to question the current government, after all they are the opposition....... who else can question what the government are doing bearing in mind the other two parties are in power......
  18. Judging by the fact that the club are running a £2 ticket offer I woyuld hope that their would be a lot more. Latics ticket offer - £2 offer.
  19. After reading the statement on OAFC official board I sent the following email to my local councillors Bashforth and Harrison: "Councillors, I write regarding today’s ruling by the Charity Commission with regards to the Charitable Land Swap in Failsworth. I quote from a council statement: “Oldham Council has expressed ‘disappointment’ at a new ruling from the Charity Commission”. Disappointment, disa-flipping-ppointment. Disappointment is not a word I am using for this decision. Disgusting is the clean one that I will share with you. This ruling nigh on kills off Oldham Athletic Football Club and I fear that Oldham’s last remaining professional sporting club will cease to exist in the very near future, and go the same way as the Oldham Roughyeds have had to go in becoming semi professional after being stitched up by Oldham Council. Does Oldham Council actually comprehend how important a role Oldham Athletic is to the awareness of the town by rest of the country. Every other week hundreds (sometimes thousands) of visitors come to our town purely because they are following their team to Oldham. They spend disposable income in our town! Not just at the football club but in the bars and pubs around the ground, in the newsagents getting their snacks for at the game, in the nightclubs and hotels if their trip involves an overnight stop! Do they even care!!! I fear not. The plan to swap the charitable land I believe was hatched by the council. They were confident that this would be a successful way to move the planning issues forward. Now this has failed, and I would like to know whether the failure was due to ignorance, negligence, or incompetence of our council officials. Which is it please? What are the people of Oldham paying for through their taxes. Is this to be another high profile failure of our elected officials as in the Vance Miller fiasco. Who’s head will roll for this one. Nobody’s I suspect! Can you urgently find out what moves Oldham council are planning to take on this issue. Is an appeal process an option, or can the charitable swap planned be amended as in any other planning application and re-submitted?" I have since received the following from Councillor Bashforth: Dear Sir, I cannot agree with you more on how badly this affair has been run, indeed although I have not yet had sight of the Charity Commission's report, I do understand that it is highly critical of the way Oldham council's Lib Dem/Conservative ruling group conducted themselves throughout the process. The importance of a viable well attended football club is not lost on the Oldham Labour Group who have pledged real support for the club when they are in a position to do so and the leader of our group has been, and remains in very close contact with directors of the club. I don't believe there is any appeal process here and that the decision is final. The only alternative would be for the club to stay at Boundary Park or seek a new site (which I believe to be OAFC's preference) and I do understand other sites are now being looked at and considered at, but am not privy to the details, which would in any case be highly confidential at this stage. As with the Vance Miller case, this will be a another high profile, expensive failure for Oldham council's Lib Dem/Conservative ruling group and it may be that resignations would be in order! Regards Councillor Steven Bashforth (Royton South Ward) It sounds very much like another council cock up to me!!!!!! This is very depressing! KTF
  20. That seems fair, although woyuld like to see Feeney get a prolonged run in the side. We have better results when he's in the team!
  21. Hmmm not sure, he would play almost exactly the same role as Feeney, holding the ball up and feeding wingers / midfield whne they can support. This is an areas that Abbott would outstrip Tonks in no problem. I think Pav Personally I really like Tonks, he's just so enthusiastic! He brings a buzz to the ground when he gets the ball.
  22. Whilst I understand the comparison between Tonks and Abbott I feel that Abbott may well have scored a damn sight more goals playing in this seasons team under Paul Dickov rather than playing in a 9-1-1 formation under Penney. Comparing the two players is irrelevant due to the totally different emphasis of the two managers.
  23. If your talking about the Ultimate Reward current account it's true they pay £5 into the account for you every month, but they also take £12.50 fees for having that account and giving you the "rewards" e.g. travel insurance etc that go with the account!
