A club source revealed preliminary talks had taken place with the former West Brom hitman, who joined the club following his release from prison in 2007, but added that a return was ‘very unlikely’ with the 36 year old’s wages thought to be the main stumbling block. Very interesting, I doubt that we will gain very much as there doesn't seem to be a police presence for 90% of our games, especially outside the ground! I can imagine Dave Whelan will be jumping for joy though as he has had a long running dispute with GMP regarding hte costs for policing games at Wigan!

SSN reporting that Mike Grella has left Bury and signed for another so far undisclosed club. I think he would be a great addition to our squad, but unlikely that it's us that have managed to snag him.

Hey Up, As a regular player share contributor I wouldn't mind having regular updates as to the level of the fund, number of contributors, payments made to the club (including the reason). I love the fact that I can help, but I hate the fact that I can't see where my money is being used to help! Perhaps a website, or at least monthly emails. Cheers and keep up the good work!

Just listened to the Rochdale boss's preview of the derby game. He is asked late on about new signings. He says that "he was close to signing a major signing today (i think the interview was yesterday) which the fans would have liked." Could it be that Latics have pipped Dale to the post for the same player!! Didn't H Bunn play for them a few times last year? Just hope the Latics manage to get the striker that he's looking for before tomorrows game otherwise we are light on options!!!

Unfortunately not his two daughters went to Thornham St James school, but no sons to my recollection!!!!!! I lined up int he dads race at the school sports day only to get Gunnar stood next to me! I lost.

Oldham 1 - 1 Scunthorpe Taylor 4356

I remember seeing Latics away at Springfield Park, 1-0 down with about 10 to go we get the ball in the back of the net! Cue pandemonium and a couple of lads vault over the 3-4 foot wall holding us in to celebrate with players. Goal disallowed, as usual, but then a race ensues between the 2 lads trying to get back over the significantly higher wall from the pitch side due to a ditch on the other side and some stewards running from the right hand side paddock who wouldn't have looked out of place at Strangeways!!! rest assured both lads just about got pulled back into the Latics faithful; however one lad lost both his shoes as a steward ended up grabbing his feet just as he was pulled back over! Funniest moment though for me was watching 10-20 stewards at the exit gate after the match looking for a lad without shoes on. His mates had to carry him through the gate - lol. We lost 1-0, can't remember what year but must have been around 1997-98 ish!
