To spend money you need to have money first, to get more money we need more fans, to get more fans you need a winning team, to get a winning team you need good players, to get good players you need more money. It's a vicious circle, also spending money doesnt gurantee success, we only have to cast our minds back around 6 years to see where that can lead.

It's all well and good saying that but good non league players still cost money!!! People like McLean, Boyd and Mackail Smith all went for big 6 figure fees. Money we just dont have. Gary Hooper cost the best part of 80k, granted Beckford could have been for a nominal fee. But I'm afraid that free transfers are the way forward again for us. At least for the time being we have a manager who can spot a rough diamond.

Lewis Allesandra is more than good enough for this level of football. Were you not there against Scunthorpe at home?? He is a young kid learning his trade, if anything I expect him to do really well under big Joe.

joe looking at another loan signing...
oafc2002 replied to johnny punkster's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
I think the way we play doesnt really help Kabba, he plays best on the shoulder of the last defender making runs behind the defence, unfortuantley we have no one in midfield who can play the passes he needs. A pointless signing I think, only because of the way we play though. -

Hopefully a big target man, doesnt even have to be that good just someone who can hold the ball up. Never really replaced Porter who was excellent at making the ball stick. -
I woke up this morning and the first think that went through my head was Big Joe is back then I decided it must have all been a dream, but it is real 100%. I really cant believe the great man is back. I cant wait for Saturday Boundary Park will be buzzing

I take it everyone has decided that Gregan is to blame for what happend last night? As far as I've seen on this thread nobody acutally did see or here what went on. As the old saying goes it takes two to tango, Taylor is probably not -

SSN showing goals from Galpharm
oafc2002 replied to Fyldelatic's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
You could argue there goal came from sloppy play by Hughes putting a cross in with only one man in the box. But then we might not get to blame Earldey as much, so I wont bother. -
I think rumours of Gregans demise have been greatly exaggerated. The guy has been absolutley immense over the last 2 games, is there a better defensive partnership than Gregan and Hazzel in this league, I think not.

Lee Hughes to Doncaster - for 400k
oafc2002 replied to oafc_lover's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
So if Hughes does go, have we any ideas on who a replacement might be? I wouldnt mind Bishop as mentioned previously, or maybe Leon Clarke? -
Yep would be a shame if we loose him beause the "manager cant handle him" maybe Shezz should ask someone decent like Mick Mccarthy for advice, or maybe not............

700k up front with future add ons would be a good offer.

This thread makes me laugh! There is no way Crossley was at fault for there 1st goal it was a free header from 10 yards, no keeper in the world would have stopped it.

Tyalor to Plymouth?
oafc2002 replied to longtimeblue's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
If we get an offer of 750k plus then I think we would be daft not to cash in, you could get a better replacement, or one who provides more end product anyway for about 200k e.g Gary Roberts just signed for Hudds. -
Name your price offer for Smalley
oafc2002 replied to BP1960's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
For me Smalley is the best youngster what we have produced in recent times apart from Alsessandra, who I beleive one day will make us a fortune. The major problem Smalley has at the minute, is he doesn't know how good he actually is, as a Winger I would back him time after time to produce "more end product" than Taylor. Definatley wouldn't be selling unless it was a stupid offer and in my opinion that would mean anything over 400k, with players like Smalley if he goes on to have a good start to next season his value will increase, and we would look like mugs for selling. -

Favourite Five Latics Goals
oafc2002 replied to ThaiLatic's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
Probably my favourite Latics goal ever, was John Eyre against QPR. I think it was just after Dowie left and the season after Moore did what he did. That goal meant so much, the celebrations after were fantastic as well. -
Not many, Carlo probably would, was a good player just not a goalscorer would have been a good link up player for Hughes.

Goal Celebration And Entrance Music
oafc2002 replied to philliggi's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
Entrance should be Idle hands by gutter twins or Wake up by Arcade fire, I think Villa might already use that one. Goal not really bothered, but who ever is charge of the Music at B.P needs to get down with the kids, think we have been stuck on that hidous Bongo song for to long!!!. Franny "come on broady lets get the fans going, put the bongo song on" -
Blackpool Bid For Taylor Rejected
oafc2002 replied to a topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
Derek rasies an intresting point in Smalley V Taylor, I am big fan of both and both have different qualities, but I feel that out of the 2 Smalley is the one who will develop into the better player. Smalley has a good first touch he is quite big for a winger with a decent turn of pace, but crucially the thing Smalley has that I dont really see with Taylor is composure. Give smalley another season or 2 and he will be a menace to every left back in this league, Smalleys biggest problem is that he doesnt know how good he can be! -
o grady signing confirmed
oafc2002 replied to dean 1984's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
The thing with O'Grady is that he looks like he has all the natural requirements to be a decent league 1 stiker big and fast, he is clearly not going to be first choice as that will be Huhes and Davies with O'Grady and Lewis providing back up. Reminds me very much of when we signed Porter people thought the 100k we paid was a rip off but if Porter had not done a runner up to Scotland we would have made 5 times our money. Onto another point Smalley should not even be considered a striker unless encase of emergency, it's not that I dont rate him, I think he as hell of a lot of potential as a winger and thats where he needs to be played. Some people are never happy, I think this is a decent bit of business by the club to go with Fleming and Lee, if we had signed one of the Leons or Grant Holt the wage outlay would be a lot more than on O'Grady, hopefully Shezz is saving the largest part of his budget for a playmaker or left winger. Get these 2 in and possibly a left back, and next season looks very promising. Well done TTA and Shezz. -
Grant Holt would be fantastic for us, big target man just what we needed last season.

Meant to ask as well, if anyone has any photos of the game? Put some up what my family took on facebook today, was just wondering if anyone else had any?
