Paul Murray single handedly kept us up after the shit show that happened with Chris Moore. Ernie was part of a team that grafted and won points where we definitely shouldnt have, which is always appreciated by the fans and following his death it meant that he was remembered a lot more than others in that team and became the symbol for the team that surpassed all expectations.

And that right there is why most people do not rate him. Many people also believed because he made a tackle or 2 he was good. This was mostly due to the fact he was so badly out of position. And he was clumsy in the tackle. There would be times when he would break through midfield with his strength and speed, but you just wouldn't get excited as his end product would be utterly dreadful and you knew he wasnt going to do anything with the ball. The most to hope for was a free kick a bit further up the field. For me, he is one of the worst defensive midfielders we have ever had. Opinions and all that jazz! Didn't he get suspended because he played horrendously in one half of a game, and AL came in and slagged him off infront of everyone and told him he would never play again? Pretty sure that's what a few ex players alluded to in their comments when leaving, particularly Craig Davies.
-
Never forget how bad he was at Bury away. Sure it was the collusso game, but Smart could have had the game wrapped up before Collusso even came on. And we paid some money for the useless lump.
-
I loved him. Was a time when I could follow Latics everywhere and he was most of the reason I enjoyed going to so many games. Just stands out for me as one of my favourite ever players.

Shut up Matt

They were just 2 of our loan goalies that worked though. We could have also got Jack Ruddy or Ben Wilson. He has played at a higher level all of his career, and I expect him to be more than good enough for us. Unfortunately its easy to forget we are currently a lower mid table League 2 team. I also prefer a permanent signing, mainly due to when the loan players are really good fans spend the next few months pestering about when we are going to sign permanently and it does my head in!

My personal favourites from the last 25 years: 1. Neil Adams 2. Kieran Lee 3. Richie Wellens Wouldnt say they were our best 3, but those 3 really stand out as players I really looked forward to turning up to watch.
-
Good price, they certainly picked up when Wellens went in last year. Will expect them to be up there.

Very surprised we didnt stick a friendly with Rangers in the GE deal. A trip to Ibrox would have been a good start before FGR away for the fans.
-
Ive no idea what the mutual termination is, but surely as a young player he was a sellable asset?! These sort of decisions are always bizarre to me. Sure there was some interest in January in him?
-
Pretty sure he came on through the middle in that game, dropped in, ran at players and scared shit out of em. Then we did like we did with Lang and stuck him out wide. Wasted.

Amazing people are arguing over if we have sold more season tickets that a historical non league club like Salford. All time low.

Non Executive Director Appointed
youngen replied to Kusunga_Is_God's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
Why does everybody assume that people appointed by the club are just there "to check others arent being shady"? Wouldn't it make more sense that he has been appointed as he offers his financial and commercial know how and help manage the business to become a successfully run club, instead of sitting with his fine tooth comb checking what the FA cup money was spent on penny for penny... BTW never seen him in my life, does anyone know who he is? Used to be from the area suggests OASIS members may? -

Expectations For Next Season

Ill reserve my judgements until after we beat Curzon Ashton and our reserves beat Mossley convincingly, and the Ill convince myself we will win the league thanks to new signings like Willy Gros and Mark Klok -
Amazing the amount of nibbles this got, from some of the better people on this board too. Shame!

Is that you confirming he just hasnt re-signed yet, or he has left? I hope its the latter, as I'm not sure i can deal with another season of thinking hes ok for 5 minutes of a game, and then hating him for 85 minutes when I remember hes actually proper shit.
