  1. i think people are forgetting mvoto's cracking challange after the brill save....also saved a definate goal!
  2. As it stands, dale stephans takes everything which can be classed as an attacking free kick....he generally shoots from free kicks or throws in an average cross and his corners tend to hit the first man or float out the back of the box. Who should be taking some of our set peices? Stephans is surely tall enough to be a threat arially at them?!
  3. It took us too long to utilise the extra men. Kieran Lee (who is outstanding this year!) tried to overlap jones but jones ignored him for too long. Taylor used him and we then looked dangerous on that side...We looked lop-sided as evina was mainly on his own when he too SHOULD have had someone to overlap him. We made bad decisions, shooting at silly times, passing too many times and often trying too hard to score...morais, slashed over when he should have just got some contact on the ball. Tounkare has to stop trying to head the ball to hard - let it hit you on the head and use the pace on the ball!! I thought Plymouth deserved a point....i actually feel a bit sorry for them but i'll take the 3 points. Glad for kelly to get his first goal but i see nothing again in feeney as to why we brought him in. Morais - nice touch, possibly tried too hard to impress but was definatly impressd with his close control and running with it. Can't see how plymouth fans could argue with either of the 2 sent off - thought the second was a shocking elbow!! They could easy have had 3 off... onwards and upwards....this league is as close as it will ever be (brighton excepted) and if we can keep doing well at home and continue to pick up odds and sods away - we won't be far off the playoffs!
  4. opening up wifi can lead you to a :censored:load of legal problems......you've got to question whether any monies raised would pay for the set up costs and the costs of keeping it filtered/secure. decent idea, but a no go for me.... now a scoreboard which flashes scores on - that would be a good idea!!
  5. apologies for lack of structure to this post! Why does everything involve the ticket office...... Vouchers for kids - go to the ticket office city fans for plymouth - go to the ticket office main stand on matchday - go to the ticket offie Bury are allowing anybody in this weekend for £5 if they walk up with a season ticket. I'm going to go just because i have nothing else to do.....would i go if i had to go over and get a ticket beforehand? probably not!! Like someone else has posted i think - why not travel round the schools selling tickets? Stalls in Oldham? I know when i go to spain, i can get tickets for some games in the local shops. It seems to me that the club is doing its best to come up with ideas to bring people to the games...but they have to visit the club beforehand.....get out there and push people to the ground When i was a lad, the club arranged our school (and others in the borough) to play a local school of our opponant one saturday and then gave the players a free ticket for the game....I know 2 people who go to today only after their experiance in this type of thing. (FYI - It was norwich in the premier league!) There's loads of things to do but its clear oldhamers don't want to come to the ground on matchdays - get out there pick them up and push them down sheepfoot lane! When my dad first took me, i wanted to go to liverpool but he dragged me into the main paddock and 20 years later, here i am. Half time entertainment - wheres the crossbar challange? put something on even if it's just a kids 5 a side! I seem to remember one year - they asked all the local amateur sides to put a sprinter forward and they raced up the pitch (or was i dreaming that!). No offence to the blue crew - but how about some cheerleaders you can have a look at :p!! Scoreboard - you cant tell me that revenue lost in the last 5 years? would not have paid for a new scoreboard....
  6. I havent got time to work this out properly - but I'd estimate that at least half our conceded goals this season have been from set peices. Yet again we fail to take relatively good chances and then concede fairly late on. For me, substitutions were slightly wrong - i dont see what feeney brings to the side and would have preferred to see kelly. With 15 to go, i would also have brought gregan on for stephens pushing jarrett into the middle to strengthen us up. Another half decent performance but we only have ourselves to blame! Another 2 points dropped....how many times is that now! Lee was outstanding again and taylor looks to be getting fit again. Brill - fills me with no confidence whatsoever so defenders cant be that comfortable either...
  7. Brill Jacobson Mvoto Greegs (jarrett if not fit) Lee Allesandra Jones Furman Taylor Kelly Tounkare For some reason, last couple of weeks, black hasn't filled me with confidence defensivly and he lacked going forward tonight. -------------- That would be my line up although i'd be tempted to play a 4-3-3 similar to the second half against Bournmouth where we played well..
  8. i thought he'd been booked twice.....although my mate said it was their player in the first half who had complained about a hand ball 60 seconds earlier.... not a bad performance tonight - just lacking that killer instinct! far too many times, we broke forward and then ended up turning backwards as we had no-one to give the ball to.
  9. Brill - Decent game, good saves, more vocal than i've seen him before. Needs to be a bit more decisive coming off his line though - 7 Lee - Solid performance and has made that position his own. Grows in confidence every game and starting to push forward more - 8 Jarrett - Without an experienced center half next to him, he looks a bit lost. Give him a few more games with hazell/gregan and he could be a decent center back. Got better as the game went on after a shaky start - 6 Mvoto - Looks solid but prone to too many errors of judgment. Probably another who needs to play with someone experienced. Half decent distribution and good in the air, needs to be more of a threat up at corners. - 6 Black - Not enough going forward with a couple of exceptions and caught out a few times at the back. Not his best game but still my preferred left back for the moment - 6 Dikaba - Looked OK, worked hard, got stuck in and tried to play football. Hugged the touchline and made some decent runs that weren't spotted. Final ball let him down too many times but a decent enough effort - 7 Furman - Outstanding, i need say no more - 10 Stephens - Much better than last couple of games. Crossing and some decision making let him down. Probably need to fin a new corner taker - 7 Taylor - Started slowly, got into it around his goal and after half time and disappeared second half. Well worked goal, and some attacking runs down the wing, probably his best for a while but looked shattered after 70 mins. I expected him to come off for jacobson. With another couple of games, we may see the old taylor back. - 7 Tounkare - Worked his socks off and again made some good runs. Held the ball up when he could and some nice flicks which almost paid off. He clearly tries to head the ball to hard instead of letting the pace already on the ball do the work. Should have scored today and probably needs another goal to boost his confidence. I like him though, think he'll have a good season if we can get better service. - 7 Kelly - Like Tounkare - worked hard. His work rate reminds me of Paul Warne but he has more technical ability on the ball. Held it up well, made some cracking runs and had a decent chance which he fluffed. Again, if we can get a better service, i think he'll score goals. Needs a tap in or an instinctive finish to get him his first goal and i think he'll be difficult to stop after that. Reminds me a bit of someone but cant think who - billy sharp maybe? - 8
  10. i'm not sure if it had hit a women or child in the stand they would have even noticed....either that or they would have nonchalantly nodded it back into play... i read his interview where he gave us credit apart from the incident and then waited to see the incident on the box, i really can't believe he made such a meal out of that little tap... anyway - lets see how many beach balls we can get to throw at him from the main stand when they visit BP....
  11. he's certainly starting to look part of a fur-midable central midfield pairing..................i'll get my fur coat.
  12. didn't he go into the shrimping business with forest gump at one point?
  13. Read on the official that he's ruptured his cruciate and damaged cartilage in his knee.... Having done exactly the same - i feel for the lad because it's a horrible injury and the recovery is a nightmare. He'll be out for the season.....good luck to him and his recovery!
  14. if it wasn't for Gregan, we'd be below stockport.... Thats the worst performance i've ever seen from an Oldham team. Unfortunatly, it's time for Penney to go. He's been badly let down by some players distinct lack of interest but it's his head which has to roll now.
  15. His handleing looks so much better now than it did earlier in the season.....i'm not sure his shot stopping ability has ever been in doubt. I still think he needs to improve his distribution and possibly work on his positioning but he certainly deserves his place at the moment.... The big test will be if he does make another silly mistake.....how would he respond.
  16. In the reserve squad for the game against Middlesboro, a friend of his family who i know was telling me just last week he was keen to get back up to this area and there was us, Bury and somebody else (not sure who) interested in taking him on. last time he was here he played about 5 games and looked an average league one player - worth another punt do you think?
  17. I've heard he could well not even make it uintill tommorow...
  18. just 5 if i've counted correctly....not a great stat
  19. Signed for us and looked ok - takes a while to settle, wasn't given it - kicked out... by the time he came back at the end of last season, he'd been shipped all over the place and never got a run of games anywhere....it's hard enough to go somewhere on loan and perform, never mind a couple of times and hardley get a game. He's now having a run at a club that wants him in the team - and he's playing like it. I'd have him back in an instant...rochdale right now would absolutly batter us.
  20. Brill - I thought at one point, after his shakey start, that he was looking like a half decent keeper. Unfortunatly, one mistake set his confidence right back when we all know it takes him 5-6 games to get it back. I doubt very much that he'll play too many more games this season. 3/10 Purdie - Looks a decent prospect on paper and from speaking to people he's a decent player but we've yet to see him so i can't even judge. Joe Jacobson - As above Holdsworth - Defensivly and arially sound but nothing special. Distribution can be poor at times and he doesn't look attack minded enough to help the wingers. Useful squad member so has to be rated as a half decent signing. 6/10 Worthington - The ball winner in the middle of the park we needed and looks solid enough when fit. We'll definatly miss his graft. 6/10 Abbot - Best signing by a mile, nobody needs me to write anything to prove why. If we gave him more chances, he'd have more goals. 9/10 Furman - Juries out at the moment, but i do think there is a lot more to come. I don't think we've really had enough players available to play a team which would allow him to play his game. I think if we can get a settled side after some players back from injury, he could have a very good second half of season. Great movement, occasionally great vision but distribution lacks at times. 6/10 Parker - Not a fan of Parker. He's nowhere near as quick as people think and even when he does get into decent positions with what pace he has - he either struggles to take on a man, or shoots badly. He backs out of far too many tackles, doesn't want to get hurt and is an all round powederpuff player. He tends to start games ok but disappears all to often. 4/10 Colbeck - Awful! I'm all for giving players time to settle before judging but i've not seen a single moment from colbeck in all the games he's played so far. He's a clumsy tackler, his ball control and dribbling is poor, his crossing is abysmal and some of the decisions (see not shooting yesterday!) are those of a POOR sunday league player. Yet to see him take on a man either. Waste of money. 2/10 :censored: - Very good signing, can play in a number of positions and looks a very good player. I'd be happy to have him in there for the rest of the season. 7/10
  21. if we're going to take it so literally, if he has a couple more run outs for the reserves, or even sub appearances he wouldnt be a "winger whose had about two twenty minute run outs in nearly 6 months" would he? seriously, i think deano could be a cracking player, but it was unfair to throw him in like that. why not play lee? he could easily have played out wide, or switched with the invisible whittaker. Chances are smalley would have benefited much more from a solid last half hour. The team mau also have done
  22. i said we shouldnt play him after two short run-outs....not to never play again. the post speaks for itself really mate!
