  1. I'm working on you now O4U :-) I've given JCH 6 because lets be honest what has he done this season? He beasted his way about Stevenage and Derby and then went stale, he had the odd substitute appearance, and it's taken until November until he's bagged his first and second goals of the season, hardly prolific. 6 is an averga mark for someone who has had an average season, unless you're laughing because you think he should be marked down? And Philliskirk, what would you give him, 8? 9? 10? he's only played about 10 games, and scored most of his goals in the tin pot, he's doing very well and a score of 7/10 (70%) reflects the good start he has made. Unless, you're one of these that bigs everyone up when theyre playin well, then kill them when they have a couple of bad games?
  2. As promised, I have returned to this thread to see how the opinion of the new signings has changed since August. Jonson Clarke-Harris - 6 - Really come along last few games, so slighty improved mark than before, the fact he needs to be tutored by Subbuteo is worrying for me, as you learn the basics of positional movement when you're in school. James Dayton - Remains a 6, can be excellent on his day and is in decent form at the moment, scoring against Notts County and Bristol City, but a bit lightweight at times. Sidney Schmeltz - 5 - Got a few tricks up his sleeve, but the game against Swindon (IIRC) when he ran through on goal with their keeper stranded in our area as they chased the equaliser, when his 'shot' trickled towards goal and stopped short of the net summed him up for me. Korey Smith - 10 - Unbelievable capture for us, still can't believe we pulled this off. Runs the show, leads by example, and still puts in an amazing shift when asked to fill in at Right Back. Mark Oxley - 6 - I'm not his biggest fan, but really grown over the last few games, helped no end by the fact we're getting a settled back 4 now with people playing in their actual position. Charlie MacDonald - 6 - Had a good little spell, but injury has hampered this recently, his misses at Crawley highlight what a hit and miss start he's had, but will probs find us 10 goals this season which is not a bad return. Anton Rodgers - 6 - Liked his passing and movement from the off, anyone who has trained and played through Chelsea's ranks (despite a fair bit of nepotism) must be able to play, and the last few games he's shown what he's all about and is getting a fair bit of deserved credit. Adam Rooney - 6 - Dropped due to the potency of the Philliskirk/Clarke-Harris partnership, but has remained professional and is a good lad to have around the camp, his goal yesterday will do him the world of good, and is our top league goalscorer. Danny Philliskirk - 7 - Despite what anyone says, he was brought in due to the imminent departure of Jose Baxter. To be fair to the lad, he has stepped up the plate and is in fantastic form, one slight criticism would be that his league return is poor with only 1 goal, but his cup heroics are more than making up for it as he shoots us towards a double trip to Wembley. Paul Rachubka - 6 - For me he should be No. 1, and has shown how dependable he is in his two appearances in the JPT against Preson and Notts. County, conceeding just the one goal. LDJ had it spot on when he said he has two No. 1 GK's in the squad. Mateo Lanzoni - 6 - Started well and his debut was suitably rewarded with the MOTM award, his rugby tackle after losing the ball was also a highlight, took the form into September and scored at Rotherham, but injury has derailed the promising start. Genseric Kusunga - 6 - Stepping up to the plate more and more, and a good partnership is developing with Tarky, also filled in excellently at Right Back, where he could actually be better suited, scored a great header vs Wolves.
  3. After seeing Spain labour against Equitorial Guinea and then losing to South Africa last night, I'm wondering whats happened to them? Germany look good but how will their high powered fast fooball cope in the Amazon heat and humidity? That leaves for me Argies or Brazil. Uruguay are garbage apart from Suarez, Colombia are garbage but for Falcao. Argies are class going forward but have no defence. So despite them not being perfect, especially defensively, i'm gonna plump for Neymar or Fred (depending if he gets back in) as top scorer and Brazil to win double.
  4. Our away form has been sketchy to say the least but the Gills are there for the taking, especially after their FA Cup showing, we should really be looking at 3 points there. Shrewsbury will be more difficult, on a Tuesday night and wanting to perform better than they did in the JPT, a point wouldn't be the end of the world, so i'd be happy with 4, but 6 really isn't beyond us now we've hit some form.
  5. Belgium have been shown for what they are this week, over hyped, they have a decent colelction of players, but none of them are elite, Hazard is the nearest they've got to being decent. Lukaku will be a good player but at end of the day their forward line consists of an Everton and a Villa player, ot exactly Aguero, Lavezzi, Messi, Higuain is it. Last 16 at best for me.
  6. Andy Warhol :- "In the future, everyone will be world famous for 15 minutes!" Just add this gimp to the long list of Big Brother entrants, Towie "cast", Geordie Shore, Made in Chelsea tossers et al.
  7. True, i'm not that well up on it tbh, I would have thought they'd be interested though, given the commercial benefits it would bring to them, although Koukash probably wouldn't be too keen on sharing the profits I suppose. Sure it'd be worth duiscussing seen as Corney suggested as much alast year, stating if the Milan clubs can do it then why can't Oldham and Rochdale?
  8. I'd get on the blower to Dogdale and discuss the possibilty of building a shared stadium on the Kingsway site. It's probably what? a mile and a half from the Oldham border, and lets be honest if we were sharing it would have to be in Oldham OR Doggers. There is plenty of space, loads of access, right of the motorway, get both councils involved etc etc, as that knob bacon says, no brainer!!!
  9. As soon as I heard this, my first thought was what a bell and my second was that it was pre planned for attention, I mean who the hell has been that drunk that they woke up in Paris after a night out in Oldham? Whilst also carrying their passport, enough cash to book a flight etc, even it was for a dare, it's not the most outrageous thing to do in the world,. "I dare you to get a 50 minute flight, take a picture and come back". errr ok, i'm such a daredevil i'll do it....gimp.
  10. Someone mentioned a while back, that when they are watching Soccer Saturday or Final Score, ex Oldham players seem to crop up all the time, and someone replied with i'm sure that happens to most other teams as well but we notice it more as they were our players BUT, there does seem a great amount of our players who have gone on to the Championship when we didn't think they'd be good enough for L1. I watched TFLS and Sheff Wed v Reading was one of the main games...Jermaine Johnson, Jordan Obita and Nick Blackman were all on display. Also in the Championship, M'voto, O'Grady, Cywka, Turnbull, Wabara, Wellens, Eardley, Furman, Cisak, Grabban, Derbyshire, Clint Hill, Matty Smith, Hines, Stephens, Grant, Chris Taylor, Lowe, Pollitt.
  11. Fair enough, and thank you for taking the time to explain this to me, i'm clearly not that well up and how big RL is round here. Most probably stems from none of my friends and relatives having ever played or watched or generally taken any interest in it, but can see from the above why it has been moved now.
  12. Screaming at him to pass to Dayton, "he's took it too wide and on his weaker foot, what an absolute....DDDIIICCC.......GGGGGGGGOOOOAAAAALLLL"
  13. I talk alot of it, and alex alot of it too. Still don't get why a RL fixture has affected a football fixture, I was reading the paper the other day and an England Rugby Union fixture against Argentina (that was also a friendly) had more coverage than the RL WC match against Fiji. (I think it was Fiji) That sums up the lack of interest in the RL WC.
  14. I disagree, the problem with Simpson is he only plays for his contract then he plays :censored:e as he doesn't give a :censored:. Look at him in his first season when he was playing for a contract, or in the FA Cup when it was about personal glory as well, he was unplayable.
  15. The Regal Moon was unbelievable after Doggers, then the heavies came in and ruined it by throwing everyone out... first game 92 but only remember being so small on the Rocky terrace that I didn't enjoy it so came back for my first top 5 memory... 1) Oldham 5-2 Charlton, super Sean with a brace along with two Lee Richardson screamers. 2) Leeds away 3-1. NYD 3) Gary Mac Everton away FA Cup R3. 4) Gary Mac Scunthorpe away, mental scenes. 5) My best memory of watching Latics, Matty Smith's equaliser against Everton, and then the scenes in the RRE for 15/20 minutes after the game, ole ole ole ole Matty Smith Smith Smith, that is without doubt my favourite memory/moment watching Latics.
  16. Cheers, totally missed that. My two penneth, stay well clear, not needed, although i'd have snapped your hand up 2008, remember Edgeley well when they tore us a new one,in fact wasn't it our first lost of the season? Pilkington, Rowe, Raynes, and the lad thats just gone Rochdale from Brighton. Talented squad that.
  17. But their squad players are Doyle, o'Hara et al. By the looks of this tie, you'd think it would be similar to when Leeds turned up and burned us a few years back. But if they really arent up for it, like the JPT, where they had no interest then the victory is there for us, just gotta go out there and give it them.
  18. I like Corrie but have to miss it now and then when footy's on, this is life.
  19. Yeah but it's Bradford City FOOTBALL club, who cares if Bradford has a large number of rugby fans, how does that affect a FOOTBALL attendance, they have a large number of muslims as well but they wouldn't move the game for a muslim festival.
  20. Is anyone really that bothered about the RL WC Final? How many would it take off the gate of a League 1 Football fixture?
  21. Was gonna say the same about Belgium being compared to Englands "Golden Generation", they have some very good players but they're not world class, i mean come on the two forwards play for Villa and Everton respectively. Cavani is tripe come to think about it.
  22. I'd play her as part of a top 2, or play her in behind, or in the hole.
  23. Brilliant read, thoroughly enjoyed that. Nice comments from the City fans too.
