  1. Baker or JET then seen as those two got replays.
  2. He is but wouldn't fancy a midfield consisting of a 36 year old Lamps, a 34 yr old Gerrard and a 33 yr old Carrick in those conditions. Italy are there for the taking at he start of tournaments, and more so because all three of their games are in hanging conditions, the two after England being in the North with 1pm local time kick offs. Really need to start fast, get at them, take the lead and then have something to defend, lose and we could well be out before it's even started.
  3. Ross Barkley has got to go for me, the jungle is not the place for Frank Lampard for example to be running round like an idiot (granted a 15 minute cameo towards the end to see us through would be warranted). It is the place though for your Jack Wilshere's, Barkley's, Lallana's, Townsend's, Walker's, Walcott's, Oxlade-Chamberlaine's etc. Nice youthful team who will run around and have a good crack, whilst complimenting them with Carrick, Gerrard and Cole I think we'd have a good chance. Hart Walker Cole Jagielka Cahill Carrick Gerrard Townsend Wilshere Barkley Rooney
  4. I agree with the OP about the "Bovis Brigade"...BUT...we can't have this mentality of "I went to Colchester on a tues night in 2004" etc, if we always had this attitude, we'd have 200 fans at every game. It's a fact of life, and yeah it is infuriating that suddenly an amount of people that is double our average home attendance want to go to Anfield, (If we get there) but i'd rather 6,000 come and try and retain a few if they like what they see, more dosh in the sky rocket. Imagine any potential Wembley visit in the future, we'd presumably take 15,000+, more than nearly four times the average home gate, where do they come from? I think the biggest stress is queing for 3 hours in the cold, and you know full well the people in front of you are United or City plastics who just want a days out.
  5. A bit meh, don't think it's warranted, granted I don't have to join if I don't want to, but a third division sporting 'arena' isn't really the place, and where does it stop, jelly and ice cream when Gerry Adams dies???? Houses of Parliament lit up in the tri-colour??? Just leave all the politics out of the football and lets us crack on getting into the third round.
  6. Absolutely delighted, the last World Cup was such a snore fest from an England fans' POV, USA was poor, Algeria awful and Slovenia horrendously nerve racking, and at least two of those sides were poor. This year I wanted a tough group, if we're gonna struggle, id rather enjoy playing someone decent, Italy in our opening game or a Slovenia??? Italy will probably be a bore fest 0-0, in the heat and humidy, both sides will probably cancel themselves out. Uruguay will be tough, but I really wanted to play these, Suarez is awesome, but Jagielka faces this guy regularly in the Prem, whether he can stop him is another matter, but he'd be more prepared than if he was facing a Falcao or Higuain. Cahill has a few years internationals and Champions League appearances behind him now, so should relish the challenge of facing (over-rated) Cavani, again Roy will probably play spoiling tactics in this game, and it'll be another 0-0 or 1-1, it would be really refreshing if he went for it like he did against Poland, but thats another story. And the Rich Coast, the easiest on paper but perversely the team England will struggle most against, having said that if we get the two draws in the first games and then follow that up with beating Rich Coast then i'm sure that'd be enough to qualify, especially if there is a winner from the Uruguay/Italy fixture. Rolling into the jungle for the opening fixture isn't desirable, but the other two games are in the cooler climate and both within an hour's flight of our Rio base, meaning the travel isnt ridiculous. For the Amazon fixture vs Italy, I imagine we'll fly straight in from our pre tournament training camp in Miami, providing there are adequate training facilities in Manaus, and acclimatise for a couple of days prior to the game. Then onto Rio for the rest of the group. If we do manage to get through to the next round, whether that's by finishing 1st or second, we are likely to face the Ivory Coast or Colombia, both would be tough but are winnable, if we overcame that we would presumably face Brazil or Spain in the quarter's where we would probably say good night. Either way, it's going to be an enjoyable World Cup, regardless of what England do, if we do get knocked out in the group stage, at least we would have had a couple of exciting fixtures for a change, we can then go on and enjoy what could be the most spectacular final ever, Brazil v Argentina in the Maracana, that would be awesome.
  7. Celebration Sunday everyone got in for free, Liverpool we beat the 5 times European Champions and Bradford has a bit of an edge as it was a roses battle with both teams doing ok recently (ie theyve recently won promotion and been to Wembley twice, once in a League Cup Final, we're 7 unbeaten lol. Imagine playing Colchester on a Sunday...dreadful.
  8. The reason the club usually spouts is that the Police don't want the away fans in the Chaddy, if it was up to the club i dont think they'd give two hoots about 50 nostalgic fans who would refuse to come...
  9. such a humble guy, he even looks embarrassed that he's done that to the keeper haha. i'd have been running round the pitch with my top over my head.
  10. Exactly the same prices as everywhere else for me, yeah you might be sat in a new stand, but you still gotta look at the pig ugly two other home stands and watch the same team everyone else is, it's not like at Posh where they have one really mega stand and 3 old structures, our new stand presumably wont be that much more impressive (to look at) than say the Rochdale Road end. Whilst on the topic of what to do with stands, get the away fans in the Chaddy, its the ideal time, coaches could be parked down that end, when away fans arrive my mini bus/car get them down that end too, and the atmosphere at BP will improve ten fold, as even a small number of our fans in the Rocky will make more noise than 1500 away fans in the chaddy. It would be ironic though, if this did happen and suddenly the away fans sounded mega in the Chaddy due to say all 2500 singing rather than just the few hundred Oldham fans.
  11. Until they shut the George Hill.... oh i'm only joking...
  12. Can't see how many they've sold on their fishal or forums, but they have gone on general sale which means they are no where near selling out. They have only been given the large section anyway and the small one will be shut by all accounts. So they have been given approx 3,000 tickets (probably 2,800 from what I can see on Twitter) So the people saying 2,000 sold are more than likely correct. They are on a bit of a 'slump', as their fans call it at the moment. I was surprised by this so I looked at their recent result on BBC. They have only won 1 out of their last 9!!!! That was a bit of a shock to me. They really are there for the taking. 6,000 plus crowd and a win would go down a treat going into the two cup games. Their fishal also states that Oldham is their closest game this season, so that will add to the atmosphere.
  13. Really??? Got to admit, this is news to me, I thought they were at their usual standard of,..... well, average, but i'm ignorant to Asian football some what. Just had a quick look at their results from this year. Lost all 3 games at the confeds, lost to Serbia and Belarus recently and also lost to Bulgaria and Jordan. Their draw with Holland and victory against Belgium are impressive though. Looking at their squad, they do have some good players such as Honda and Kagawa, and Nagatomo at Inter. But surely a group stage exit awaits them* *Granted, they may yet get a favourable draw next week, BUT the way FIFA and their magic balls work, it looks as though a number of group of deaths could arise.
  14. Should have stuck some cash on it, although was wrong about Charlie, great effort from him tonight, with a goal and an assist, hopefully he goes on a run similar to a few weeks ago now.
  15. Manager of the Month is based on league games only, not a cat in hell's chance with a record of DWW. With MK being called off and Bradford being in December, other teams will have played 2 games more than us in November also. Still, been impressed with how we've performed this month, it is always nice progressing in the cup competitions but never at the expense of the league, so it's refreshing to see us back it up with two wins on the road in the league.
  16. What are the other options to Mellor at Left Back? I do like the kid, but he's a central midfielder, it goes back to the square peg, round hole comments I've made previously. If Grounds played Left Back, would that mean Mellor at centre half?? If so i'd definitely stick with the team I mentioned earlier. I like Charlie Mac, but Rooney and Philly destroyed them in the JPT, and Rooney has been doing reasonably well since being dropped, like coming on against Wolves and bagging, he hasn't whined like a bitch (at least not in public) Gonna be a tough game tonight, but i'd like to think we can win, so i'm going to say 2-1 Latics.
  17. I'd have gone on a Sat. Tues are a nightmare. Oxley Lanzoni Tarkowski Grounds Mellor Schmeltz Wesolowski Smith Dayton Rooney Philliskirk
  18. Argentina to win, Aguero top bagger double??????
  19. Go on..own up...who went on their website www.cncg.com ???
