  1. how sad am I, I actually read the whole thread. Need a life
  2. Heard that a number of County fans are doing a sponsored walk from BP to Edgeley park before our game on Tues 2nd Feb. Setting off from BP at 1200-1230hrs. All in aid of Leukemia Research, a great cause. May try to get down to offer some support.
  3. ..But, the real fans stick through the bad times as well as the good. Sorry Barry they don't, it's the real fans that are now turning their backs on the club. I know many lifelong dedicated supporters who have now had enough and simply don't go anymore. I'm 44 and have been watching Oldham since I was 7 yo, I am now forcing myself to go, maintain the same standard of entertainment and it's only a matter of time before I also walk. You are misguided if you believe that real fans will turn up no matter what is on offer it should have been staring you the face for the last few years, it would appear from your post however that it was an assumption in the business plan.
  4. we've not had a poll now for 26 hours. How about a poll on the player of the decade? I'd do it my self but I've only just figured out how to post a new topic.
  5. 6hr round trip, £20 for Chaddy End, wish I'd taken the kids Scalextric set along - would find it too hard to describe what I witnessed but it would take a very large herd of elephants to produce the equivalent amount of sheite
  6. When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hang on a minute longer, never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.
  7. We can all take some responsibility for moving things in the right direction. How about making the Tranmere game a 'Bring a friend' game where we frog march, drug or kidnap a mate and manhandle him through the turnstiles. I wasn't going to go but being someone who always puts others before myself I was minded to consider all those poor souls who have been missing live sport for weeks and I have managed to convince 2 others to travel 175 miles to BP.
  8. I wouldn't massage their egos with a trip abroad, but take them to Selly Oak Hospital and introduce them to some real hero's who have suffered horrendous injuries fighting for their country, then perhaps they will recognise that it's not that tough a life to work your socks off for your teamates and your boss for 90 minutes every week

  11. Lived in Ashton and brought up in a City and United household. Grandad would take me to watch City so initially chose City. Dad turned against United in 70's and took me to BP. I remember clinging on to the advertisement hoardings in the Main Stand Paddock next to kids of own age who I made friends with, I could connect with players who would remain at the club for several years, & banter with legends like of Peter Osgood (Southampton in Texaco Cup) and Bobby Moore (Fulham - what an own goal). The early enjoyment & memories have never left me and protect me against despair. I'm not sure I would be following Oldham had I been introduced to them since the mid 90's.
  12. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee we love you We love you We love you everywhere you play we follow we follow we follow coz we support the Oldham the Oldham the Oldham and that's the way we like it we like it we like it oh wooohhhhohhhhh x4 - with much jumping and lapping oh wooh that's the way (ah ha ah ha) we like it (ah ha ah ha) that's the way (ah ha ah ha) we like it (ah ha ah ha) wo oh oh oh oh oh ohhh oh oh - Athletic or Oldham wo oh oh oh oh oh ohh oh oh - Athletic or Oldham
  13. Perhaps it's my age but even with the Moore connection (and the arrogance of John Aldridge) I have never seen Tranmere as a main rival - is it only me or am I missing something here. I don't give a flyin chuff if they win loose or draw as long as we beat them
  14. Such injuries can simply stem from incorrect seating posture. My thoughts on the mystery are that when the team perform poorly and are forced to come in on a Sunday morning to watch a repeat of the horror show (and lets face it it will have been a while now since any one of them last saw an episode of the Heaven & Earth Show), instead of sitting down perhaps they should stand up. But then again some jobsworth in an orange jacket would appear and demand that they sit down.
  15. As implied earlier in thread a significant number of supporters attitude to Eardley at BP and on this site have contributed to the sale price. We could have got more out of him with better support which would have increased his value but were too critical of the lad. We can't complain too much, we reap what we sow.
  16. Love it, have always been under inspired by the post 80's strigiforme nailed to a Winfield by a first year apprentice taxidermist
  17. Invercargill (South Island NZ), Western Samoa and strangest of all once came across an Oldham scarf in my kids Lego box along with a part eaten piece of broccolli.
  18. Calm down. Yes it was a poor performance but we've been much worse in recent years. Had the feeling of a reserve match and the quality of performance to match. The squad have just come together so give the poor buggers a chance. By far the most dissappointing performance of the night was the pies - I have never experienced such a poor excuse for fayre, no depth at all, the middle might as well not have turned up, didn't appear to have any structure at all it was as if someone had simply thrown some ingredients into an oven and told them to try and sort themselves out into Pukka's finest - then partway through realised it was tosh and tried to disguise it by sprinkling some stock on the top which didn't combine with anything and simply looked like a layer of lard - found I'd eaten half the container before I'd realised. Early days boys, early days.
  19. I wasn't untill I was Jahovahs Witnessed tonight but now I'm Enlightened 'mon Oldham
  20. The lads got potential - don't think I could have delivered at his age given the pressure from the morons. Good luck to the lad, hope he goes on to achieve what he is capable of, then some idiots at BP may stop and think of the -ve impact they are having on our club.
  21. From BBC website: "Rangers fans who travelled on a bus to watch the Ibrox side's league-winning match with Dundee United have fallen ill with swine flu, it has emerged. The Scottish Government said 13 fans who travelled on the bus were among 23 new confirmed cases across Scotland - bringing the new total to 42. Of the 13 fans on the bus, 11 were from the Dunoon area, which now accounts for 18 of the 23 new confirmed cases. The other two fans are from the Glasgow and Ayrshire and Arran areas. The 11 fans from Dunoon are believed to have passed on the virus to seven other people - six of them family contacts, with one other work-related" The report fails to add that the World Health Organisation have increased the outbreak to Pandemc State 7 as it has now jumped to another species. That's what happens when people are over familliar with their relatives.
  22. A squad of players willing to put a hard shift in evey time the go out on the pitch who will work for each other the manager and the club. Followed by world peace, cars fuelled by earl grey tea and Ronaldo acquiring Tourette's.
