  1. Have sent mine. Address is Alan.hardy@oldhamathletic.co.uk
  2. It's as though the club aren't aware of other players! That it's waiting for a supporter to suggest aomeone ( eg Elding or Showumni) and Sheridan then says "Oh, don't know about him, let's check him out" ! You're right, there will be a constant flow of information, phone calls etc that we don't know about. It frustrates me to hell that we have fans who don't appear to give any credit to the club for being professional. The bottom line is money. Can we afford fees and/or wages? Bandying names about is fun, but doesn't change the real world.
  3. about Sheridan? sorry you are losing me.....
  4. Most of the names being mentioned are by fans not the club! So Sheridan isn't naming anyone, so can't stop doing what he isn't1
  5. One potential deal fell through when Athletic enquired about a Championship striker who does not play regular first-team football and were told he is paid £7,000 per week. We all read that in the Chron on Wednesday and there was some talk that this was Leon Clarke. I don't think it can have been. We had him on loan last season and would have known what his wage was then when we agreed terms for that period. So perhaps the Clarke saga still will rumble on, maybe for a further loan, maybe a proper transfer. Or maybe not.
  6. Putting in about £700,000 per year to cover the losses could be said to be an impressive "doing their bit" by TTA. And they've said the money will be there for the right purchase - that means at a proper price and with wages that we can afford (and that don't break the salary cap on the club as a whole).
  7. Maybe we should accept that OWTB isn't representative of all fans. Let's not assume we have a monopoly on opinion.
  8. But if he is succesful then his desirability will increase, other clubs come in for him, he may move on, fans here start slagging him for his lack of loyalty...... Neil Kilkenny , deja vu.
  9. If you doubt his desire to be a team player you weren't at Leeds. He ran himself into the ground holding the ball, chasing it etc.
  10. The only manager to beat both Crewe and Leeds this season Doesn't look that happy but there was the glimmer of a smile!
  11. When Accrington went bust in 61/2 we lost the two points that we'd gained from a home win. (We'd lost away) All results were expunged and teams at the end of the season were shown as having played 44 games (instead of 46).
  12. The manager when I first started watching in 1960 and the architect of the revival that saw us move out of perennially near the bottom of Div 4 to promotion with an average home gate of 14000. Brought some very astute signings to the club - the star was Bobby Johnstone of course, but others like Bert Lister, Ken Branagan, Alan Williams, Jimmy Frizzell, Johnny Colquhoun - and they not only won promotion in 1963 but gave Liverpool a fright in the Cup in 1962 in front of 41733 at Boundary Park. Fell out with the directors and went to coach at Ajax! Returned in late 60s but didn't have the same success. Ran a newsagents in Shaw for a while. Always approachable and had a massive influence on the history of the club. Without his excellent management from 1960-63 the Latics may have gone out of the league. Brother of the legendary Arthur.
  13. Lack of historical perspective my young friends. Bobby Johnstone springs to mind. Even Sheridan coudn't compare to the quality of that man. And none of us on here can talk about signings made pre-1939 so let's not talk of Latics' "best ever" signing!
  14. No, no and thrice no. Our home colours are blue and white!!!!
  15. [ Latics have never had an identity in terms of a kit - which is a shame. The red/blue hoops was awful, but tried to reflect an old blue and white hooped shirt from long ago. If at that stage they had gone for blue and white hoops and stuck with it it might have been better. Sorry Scapegoat, simply not true. From about 1907 throught to 1967 we had distinctive blue & white "thirds" most of the time. There was an exception in the immediate post war period when, for a couple of seasons, we played in Red & white hoops (not blue & white). Kit was hard to come by, clothing ration coupons still required, and we borrowed shirts from Oldham Rugby. And in 1959/60 it was basically a blue shirt with white sleeves and white v-neck. Ken Bates shifted to tangerine and blue ( a look that was at the time criticised as looking like "Mexican generals") and when we came back to blue and white it was a non-distinctive design initially.
  16. Can't see Hughes being one. Still only had a relatively few games back at fitness, is 31 and still has perceived baggage. More likely to be Eardley, Davies, and , despite not having had a wonderful season, Taylor. PS The Chron says they are first team regulars. Now there's a surprise - I thought it might be players who can't catch ....
  17. Nonsense - the traditional colours are blue and white. We had a brief period under Ken Bates in tangerine (about 6 years only). As an away kit then we wore tangerine in the late 50s and early 60s but don't confuse the issue!
  18. Hear hear! I'm a season ticket holder because it works out cheaper over the season, I get first choice for all ticket games , and it helps the club. I know at the beginning of the season that I will have tp pay normal prices for extra games. There's no justification for me getting a big discount for cup matches.
  19. I think people are underestimating the numbers that Huddersfield will bring. They have a big feelgood feeling after the Birmingham result, will think they've got a good chance against us, and get about 9000 to every home match . We would expect to fill their away end and I 'd be very surprised if they don't easily sell 3/3500. Latics will I reckon allocate the big section of the RRE to them initially and then take a decision on the small section nearer the day. Floating Latics supporters will probably leave it to the last week to get their tickets so there won't be a clear indication of home demand till nearer the day - and probably there'll be pay on the day.
  20. It was said that despite his strong Polish accent he was still easier to understand than Jimmy Frizzell!
  21. [ Channel M are knobs...no mention that there claims about traffic were ruled out by EXPERTS.. Channel M are actually very good about Latics and to throw abuse is very unhelpful. Maybe they could, on this occasion, have made that point but it certainly doesn't make them knobs.
  22. Have sold 2,600 for Everton so far according to official site. We'll have best part of 5000 there I reckon.
