  1. LL, I suspect (strongly) that you're much more in the know than me, but I could've sworn Corney said we've lost under £400,000 in total and that's taking into account the fact that we've only had one instalment for Trotman.
  2. I like the idea of somebody at the front orchestrating things with a big loud hailer. Isn't Turkey or somewhere similar that do this? I vaguely remember it being so bad one year that complaints (was it United) were made to the ref. It really adds to the atmosphere to hear someone shouting really loudly throughout the game. Well, maybe not the atmosphere, but it's a great way to wind everyone up!! On a serious note(!) you didn't add that we should all link arms and jump up and down like the St. Petersburg fans do. Mind, with all that exercise we could finish up with a few coronaries and we can't afford to lose any more fans.!!
  3. It has nothing to do with football. The relationship broke down after a Christmas party at which Sven (allegedly) tried it on with a nice Thai lady. Mark Hughes is on his way.
  4. Hmmmmmmmmmm. 'Daughters dog'. Northern. Clever dog. Clues do point to Gin. Piers and Simon claim she's the cleverest dog in the world!! (though personally, I think it's Germain Greer.)
  5. Is the dog called Gin? If it is, then it will be true.
  6. and neither are United, but we're all a part of the Greater Manchester brotherhood...and the simple chant can do nothing to alter that fact.
  7. I would certainly agree that higher gates means MUCH higher pie sales in Leeds, but to be fair, that could be applied to anywhere in Yorkshire!
  8. Dreadful - mixed race!!! Arguably the clubs greatest icon was 100% black.
  9. Agree. Can anyone explain why these three have shorter odds?
  10. He is the voice of gloom who makes us all realise that any optimism we may create is based on a false pretence because we're all doomed, doooooooomed. CJ, you should take the name of that other Dads Army character - was it Fraser, the Scottish undertaker.
  11. No, they're both in Greater Manchester...
  12. Couple of useful links, underlining our Greater Manchester heritage. No red rose on the badge - shame. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_Manchester gmc
  13. lol. I suppose it could now be used in one of those psychiatrist tests when they flash the cards and ask 'what do you see?' Argh, i see kissing rabbits.
  14. what about if you want county to win because you actually like them?
  15. Bigger than Hyde, Curzon AND Mossley put together!!! Something Freudian about this thread.
  16. Welcome back CJ. I've missed your indomitable spirit. Have you been on holiday? Lets have more of your 'we've gone to sleep and lack ambition' attitude!'
  17. Tend to agree (won't say wowzers - great phrase though). Also agree about that centreforward for Stockport - the only one for me who showed raw potential. Could he make the step up? I'd say yes under the right coach. As for the rest - very mediocre.
  18. Wingers - I love wingers. Cavalier football - up and at 'em. Love it.
  19. Wowzers! Are you Inspector Gadget in disguise!!!
  20. Cheers. Wasn't expecting another enlightened view. The Lancs lobby are woefully out of date. I'm sure some of them think we're still ruled by Dane Law. Fact is, apart from the postal address (a result of a beligerant postal service), we've belonged to the Manchester conurbation for a long time. Like you, I'm happy to be a part of it.
  21. How very traditional. ou are so typical of the old school. I've had this argument with my own family and friends for years. I suspect I will be in a very small minority on this board. However, although the GMC has gone, Greater Manchester is still a political unit. It reflects more accurately the geographical reality of belonging to a large conurbation. It includes Stockport MBC and Rochdale MBC. It has been the case since 1974. The old county structure disappeared a long time ago. Manchester continues to increase it's social, economic, cultural and political influence over the entire region. We still have Greater Manchester police, fire, ambulance and transport and the 10 MBCs still own the airport. There, that's my penny's worth. long live Greater Manchester.
  22. And here. Come on Leningrad. Give us an L give us an E...
  23. Coming from the Manchester region as most of us do, it would be immoral to not support Manchester's twin city of Leningrad. Come on you Zenits!!!! Besides, let's be honest, most Scots (Celtic being exempt because they're Irish and I them) are very racist when it comes to all things English.
  24. Celtics (Stalybridge and Glasgow - it's in the blood) Oh, and County. Used to like Friday nights at County. Nice club.
