  1. correct in one way but i may go to 22 away games this season Leeds being the exception.
  2. Losesome here ( he by the way) Having Bates there is an aside really . The point is that I go to 80% of the away games and like previously stated the money goes into the coffers of the home club. In most cases i am happy to pay whatever but £27 is an absolute disgrace for league one. They are the only club that charge that sort of price and is it just coincidence that its Bates whos there? Either way i will not pay £27 to watch a league one game and IF enough supporters said NO then clubs like Leeds would have to do something about it. The only way i can express my disgust is not to go - so i wont.Missing one game out of 46 wont kill me.
  3. Don''t they even do half the sentence now ?? 74 days out of 183 , they will be getting released before they go to court soon !!!!!!!!!!
  4. oops , must have read 9am as the 9th. Get a feeling that they wont be sold out anyway !!!!!!!!!
  5. providing you have either a mortgage in place or bank notice that the funds will be granted then S/T holders have until 9th Aug to buy one. We have 2,000 seats with another 500 or so if needed. They go on open sale after that and hopefully they will be able to return at least 1986 tickets to Leeds and tell them where to stuff them.
  6. When these premier clubs loan a player out they only do so on the proviso that they play. The problem with that is what if he has an attitude problem and once the deal goes thru you are stuck with him taking the position of somebody who may be playing better. He has hardly made any appearances with Stoke so you have to ask why ?? but there may be a good reason why. Can understand Shez being hesitant.
  7. No but it gives me greater pleasure knowing that Bates wont be getting my money. I will see latics in the other 45 league games.
  8. Do you really want to put £27 in Bates grubby greedy hands. I certainly don't and wont be going.
  9. Does it matter because at £27 they wont sell many ??? I think everybody should try and boycote the game and start letting these clubs know that £27 for a league one game is absolutley mad.
  10. See the new season has started as usual , Keiran Lee out for 3 weeks damaged hamstring !!! Thought this new trainer had none of these type of injuries. Lets hope it not a repeat of last season.
  11. Remember SU shafted us on the Beckett transfer fee , charged us something like £80k just to get him on loan. 500k and 20% sell on minimum
  12. Last season when they charged £25 with no student rates i emailed them to voice by disgust. They replied with a one liner "That's our policy this year". I replied back that i could get in OT cheaper to watch premiership football. They replied one liner again - Well go to OT then" Typical B*****d Bates doesn't give a hoot about pr but expects other clubs to rally round when they get hard done by the FA. I wont be going and good riddance to them.
  13. Its a new cost saving shirt - Don't need floodlights for night matches !!!!
  14. If its true them hopefully we have got paid upfront. Then we can get new sponsors and get some more cash in. Feel sorry for those who have bought shirts today as they will be out of date now ??
  15. It underlines the point that Simon Corney made at a supporters meeting a few weeks ago - Just suppose Latics had got promoted last season. We would be in the same division as Derby. Derby get a £30 mill payment from the premier league and we would get £2-3 Mill budget for players for getting promoted. Yet we would be competing in the same division !! The higher you go the bigger the differences. I honestly think it would be virtually impossible for a club like us to get to the premiership again. Not saying it can't be done but it would be 10 times harder than Joes achievements. As the bigger clubs like Leeds and Leicester drop to league one the cash difference you have to operate on gets bigger and bigger. Unless we progress in terms of increasing crowds , in 10 years time it will be a major achievement to get out of league one !!
  16. Totally agree that every player has a price , however we are in a strong position with Taylor as we have him on contract whatever the terms , he's under 25 and he loves the club. Therefore accepting anything below £1 mill is giving him away. I would be very very disappointed with the club if they allowed him to go for less.
  17. Maybe this is what Shez meant when he said we would have 5 or 6 new players next year ?? He means fit players ??? Go for it lad and hopefully live up to your words.
  18. I went to the supporters meeting 2 weeks ago and Asked Simon Corney this very question about season tickets at Bradford etc. Answer was - Latics average just over 5,000 per game of which something like 3,000 are season ticket holders. The other 2000 pay (£20 adults) on the day and the club rely on this revenue every home game. If they sold S/tickets at half price then the 2000 or so above would buy them but then they would lose the cash revenue every week . If we sold S/tickets half price and doubled the sales we would have just as much revenue in lump sum pre-season and then lose this much needed cash every home game. Also with increased gates come increased costs especially police costs. These cost are not made up from the extra programme and coffee sales etc so it is not viable for latics to do what H/Field and B/ford have done unless somebody underwrites it. Unfortunately latics have a very lethargic public when it comes to the football club - look at last season play offs when we struggled to sell 8,000 tickets for the home game. Even if we were top of the league next season we would struggle to get regular gates of 7,000 now. Also people just don't have the money at the moment and times are hard.We have to cut our cloth accordingly. Good argument i think !!!!
  19. See Andy has paid the price and gone from the town. Short lived managers jobs , only 2 months ago they were earning a mill £ at stamford bridge ???
  20. I did go but only found out about it on Saturday. However when i wanted to find out what time it started i looked in the previous 2 programmes and on the web site and there was absolutley no mention of it. Barry - one of the questions i put in to Ian Cheeseman was why it didn't get better publicity !!! but it didnt get asked and i forgot to bring it up again. I asked as many questions as i could think of on various things that had puzzled me this year and i feel i got very honest answers from the panel. It certainly blew away a lot of the miths and rumours about various things. To those who didn't go then i think you would certainly have a different view of the club if you did. I think the overall impression i had when i left was that i not only now understand the various problems associated with running a club like latics but also you get honest answers to questions about things like "ricketts" / Bradford tickets etc. that you would never know about. I think next time there must be more publicity about future meetings and hopefully all the doubters and moaners will turn up with relevant questions and see the problems encountered. I came away feeling a lot better about the future of OAFC and one of the biggest problems we have is the apathy of the local public. In terms of financial standing i think it would surprise a lot to know how we stand compared with all the other clubs in league one and two. Roll on next season and hopefully a successful team will see MUCH improved gates that the club owners deserve.
  21. Whats worrying is that even before Hazel was sent off we were 1-0 down and being outplayed by a team who have W 0 - D3 - L12 of the last 15 games. We were very very liucky in last away game at vale because we were outplayed there by the worst side in the league and 3-0 more than flattered us.
  22. Thats exactly why he should have signed some players in Jan to cover for these eventualities??? The same thing happened last year when Porter and wellens were injured. I know we have had some bad luck re injuries but thats not an excuse. To only be able to name 4 subs for a club like us is embarrassing.
