  1. I suspect all Tranmere's first 35-odd games will be 'massive', till relegation is confirmed for them. Well, here's hoping anyway!
  2. And the bookies just pluck the positions out of thin air do they? If this was cloned from the bookies, am sure someone did get paid for it, and hopefully quite well! Granted, it may well, not be the 4-4-2 journo though!
  3. Maybe, though that is still no reason to write off his career just yet; he was widely considered as a good signing at the time, and should be a useful 'addition' to that squad.
  4. Injuries? Apparently, this is his first and only serious injury.
  5. Maybe it's our newfound optimism, the Happy Clappers are back in Town!!
  6. Well, if he can't afford to have changed his car since the 19th Century!
  7. With the recent retirement (sacking, flapping away, or whatever?) of Chaddy the Owl, can we not have you as our new mascot?
  8. Hopefully at least some of the Abbott wage will be available to make sure it is not TOO thin, when that time comes.
  9. I think this may well form a big crux of our forthcoming season, in two ways; a. Will those fans who say all they want is to see entertaining, attacking football regardless of whether we win, not be on PD's back after a couple of hammerings away from home, or even at BP, or will they be getting the 'Get out of my club, blah blah blah' shouts out? b. After a couple of those hammerings, will our (thin and young) squad still be up for the fight? Hopefully PD and GT, will be making sure that the right arms are around the right shoulders and the right feet are up the right backsides, but who knows, time will tell.
  10. Wow, big news....Ritchie Wellens is back training at Oldham?????
  11. There is not necessarily anything sinister in this. There is a growing movement in the Unites States for OC (Open Carry) of firearms, as an exercise of Constitutional rights. My understanding is that the law accepts this in the state of California. However, if it was loaded, that may be a totaly different story!
  12. Did anyone post about the actual goings on of this meeting somewhere, for those of who were unable to attend?
  13. Uh oh, Pandora's Box is opened...... Restraining Orders at the ready!
  14. They already do give their appearance money to charity. Not that that excuses any of the "performances".
  15. Definitely agree about fitness and confidence, and that CT plays on the left, but I definitely think he should be able to play o the right too, in his original position. In fact, if his development went as it should do, we should see him swapping wings during the game dependant on the circumstances and full-backs to provide maximum threat. I would go far as o say he could possibly even play a free role, if we had the midfield backing necessary.
  16. I think that is (potentially) a tad harsh on the squad currently at BP. True, they badly underperformed last season, and some would say that they suffered from chronic mis-management, and the injury woes were plain to see. It is certainly no major claim that the likes of Chris Taylor, Dean Smalley, Keigan Parker and possibly Joe Colbeck performed way below their potential. What the reasons are lie open to interpretation and discussion. Additionally, we never saw the elusive Purdie and Pawel Abbott deinitely suffered from his injury woes. So, maybe we do have a squad that can perform way better than avoiding relegation, just. Certainly, that seemed to be the feeling before the campaign started. Really, the question is can we replace the likes of Parker, :censored: and Guy with similar quality, and simultaneously get Taylor, Smalley and Abbott playing at their peak. That I think will determine how well we do.
  17. Yes, it does appear, though maybe we will never know for sure, that Pav never really fully recovered from his operation and gained full match fitness and sharpness. Now how much that set him back, I'm sure we will never know. Similarly, to whom the blame should go, who knows. Though my experience is on a far far far lesser scale, I have been known to play football, before being fully recovered from injury, only to either immediately cause a worse injury or to end up with a niggly never quite fully fit situation, until I rested properly. And of course I've done this all against the good advice of others. And, no, getting paid toss all for playing makes no difference whatsoever!
  18. You can add that to the list of 'most inane' or for me, hated comments bandied arounf footballers. The FULL injusry recovery time for a player is dependant on a few factors: the seriousness of the injury, the medical treatment given, the physical make-up of the player, the condition of the muscles before injury, and I would say most particular to this case, the stress put on the injury during rehabilitation. Never have I seen an injury look up the bank balance of a player to see how it will heal. And as for linking player's effort to bank balance, the only thing to say on that is ! And yes, I do think footballers are massively overpaid!
  19. Am pretty sure they would have to honour that one for anyone who bought their ticket on that basis, at the time when the offer was in force, unless they have explicitly offered a full refund to said persons, assuming there are any that is.
  20. And a cheap option too. Two personalities, one person to give a wage cheque to . . . . . . . ?
  21. The way I heard it, it was Everybody Butts Taylor!
  22. Surely that would be Duxbury, Philliskirk and Gray. ie those best qualified to do so. We may not currently have a manager, but life does go on. In Danny W's case, it would be far more outrageous to offer him a new contract whilst managerless rather than offer a new one, after all we can always resign him, a la Gregan, on less money too. And as far as the kids go, I would guess that the main decision makers there should be Dux and TP, regardless of whether we have a manager or not.
