  1. Good to see Mouldy Old Dough and Fanfare in the lead, clearly these two songs mean the most to Latics fans. I was torn, but went for fanfare in the end, It reminds me of my first games at ISZ and why I'm a Latics fan. Mouldy Old Dough was always played in the build up to kick off, but I reckon I could get used to it as the entrance music. As for goal music, I'm not that bothered. How about we play a different piece for different goals - 1st goal - I feel good 2nd goal - Song 2 3rd goal - Guns of Navarone 4th goal - Dont stop me now(Queen) 5th goal - unbelievable (EMF) 6th goal onwards - The Laughing Policeman (With the sound specifically turned up in the away end).
  2. Bobby Robson - Great manager, sadly forced out by the press. Graham Taylor - Best forgotton about. Terry Venables - Great manager, forced out by the suits at the FA due to his 'business' interests. He has never been found guilty of anything. Glenn Hoddle - I thought he did a great job getting us to France 98, sadly his devotion to faith healing and religion proved to be his downfall. Forced out be the press. Kevin Keegan - Campaigned for by the press, but lets face it, this guy was never up to the task tactically. He knew it and had the balls to admit it. Sven - I always felt he did a good job, he got us qualified for every tournament. Press forced him in to leaving after chasing every avenue of his personal life. Forced out by the press. Steve McClaren - Wasnt even 3rd choice for the job. We go for Scolari, we get McClaren. He never had the teams confidence, the only 'big' decision he could make was dropping Backham, which proved to be wrong. Personally I wouldnt have gone for Capello, I think we've done the foreign boss route and I think we have a few decent English choices that would have been up to the task. My choice would have been Redknapp, but once he was arrested that pretty much screwed his chances. Someone did that deliberately, Police show up when he's not at home AND have the British press in tow with them.
  3. 2007-08 Railway Cup Winners....impressive! Also won it as a player in 2003-03
  4. Forget moving with the times, this is what our entrance music has to be. The only two songs that fit this bill are Mouldy Old Dough and Fanfare for the Common Man*. *Don't Leeds use this or at least used to? But they're not common men...they're just common...barely.
  5. Entrance: Fanfare for the common man. This really was our best piece of music to come out to ever. I think this an Mouldy Old Dough are the two songs that relate best with Latics. Goal: Do we really need music? Errr, havent heard guns of navarone, I'll youtube it later. So for now I'd say sommat along the lines of Song 2 by Blur.
  6. Even if we could meet his demands, I wouldnt want him at Latics, we can spend the money elsewhere.
  7. 1: Cheaper Tickets Would be nice, but it's been tried. The season they did the games for a quid, in the first game we still failed to get more than 10K IIRC. Cheaper tickets does not automatically mean more fans through the gate. That being said, it would still be nice. 2: Better football We'd all like better football, but even if we played bad, I would still go....whenever I get chance. 3: Star Player If we ever got Scholes, then yes he'd add another 1K at least(I reckon a few reds would come week in week out to watch him play). Otherwise who could we get? 4: Better atmosphere I'd like to change 'Better' with 'Positive' - What games I can get to, the atmosphere is awful, very negative. 5: Standing/Singing section "In my opinion the whole stadium should be signing. Standing ? No thanks, go and watch the hillsborugh videos....easily forgot..." - Quote oafc0000 How on earth do you compare Hillsboro to Boundary Park? Even in the Allianz Arena here in Munich they have standing areas. It can be done, I just think that clubs in the UK are now too afraid to challange the taylor report. 9: Better match advertising Match day promotions on the day before and on the day in town centres(Oldham/Rochdale/Middleton) is a good idea, certainly worth testing it out. Give out tickets*. Details on who's playing obviously and even how to get to BP. *Except on Matchdays. 10: TV's at back with highlights I only see this as an extra cost that the club doesnt need. 12: Big TV screen Cant see how this would increase fans through the gate? Hasnt it already been stated that a big screen would be drain on money? 14: Friday night games - Coach to pubs/clubs after Munich 1860 play all their games on Fridays & Sundays, this way they are not competing with Bayern or any of the big Bundesliga 1 teams. They just dont do the pub/club thing after. Although, there is nothing stopping people here organising such an event. The more you have these events, the more they may catch on.
  8. Funnily enough, I'll be in London that day. Not going to go to the match though, going to stay in the centre and get drunk with some mates.
  9. Barcalona definitely. A few years ago I was lucky enough to be on holiday in a nearby resort that had tickets for opening game of the season. If I had been there an extra week, I would have been able to see them batter Leeds 4-1 in the chumps league.....I think it was 4-1....or was it 4-0? I'll also have to add Munich 1860, been to a fair few games at the old Olymiastadium and also a couple at the Allianz Arena. I refuse to watch Bayern.
  10. I guess it depends on who Sinawatra gets in? A few stories are suggesting he's after Scolari, if he gets him I can see Richards hanging around.
  11. I'm not interested at all in the chumps league and never bother to watch any of the games, that competition just like the Premiership is about money.
  12. Disappointwed we've let Constantine go, not because he's been a great player(I wouldn't know, I haven't seen him play), but because we've just lost 2 players to injury, so letting an experienced first team footballer go is insane. Plus, I'm going to remain an eternal optimist until it becomes mathematically impossible to achieve a play off spot.
  13. We were playing Luton at the right time too and we will also only have 4 subs again!
  14. You guys are lucky, you get Batman on the 25th July, I have to wait till 28th August....bloody germans!! On the Joker, should he ever be used again in a movie(Provided that they dont go the usual route of killing the main villians). A lot of people always felt that Jack Nicholsons Jokers was fantastic(Which it was) and couldnt be topped. I cant wait to see Heath Ledger's(RIP) version. The beauty of the Joker is that he doesnt have one type of personality, he has so many that no one knows what his true character really is. He's a great choice, the character of Tony Stark is an alcoholic, its kind of apt that RDJ is playing him and from seeing the trailers so far, he looks the part. Oh and I know this thread is a couple of months old, but I couldnt ignore it. It's Batman!
  15. Totally agree with this. We've gone through far too many managers since Royle left - 1994-1997 Graeme Sharp 1997-1998 Neil Warnock 1998-2001 Andy Ritchie 2001-2002 Mick Wadsworth 2002-2003 Iain Dowie 2004-2005 Brian Talbot 2005-2006 Ronnie Moore 2006-Pres John Sheridan
  16. I dont live in Oldham anymore, so cant really give an honest comment on the other points. Took a while but I found it. Perhaps the board could have an "Events & Meetups" area. The title of the thread is "forum nights' and to be honest it deosnt really tell you anything so unless someone actually bumps the thread to remind everyone I can see why it was missed. If anyone is going to post a night out, you should include the time, date and place in the thread title and then again in the first post, that way when people see it they know what they are clicking on.
  17. I'll add my name to this list now that Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is out. I also have CoD 2, 3 & 4. I also have Pro Evo 2007, but am completely useless. Gamertag: Lions III
  18. He went to a bigger club who offered more money. If you're gonna get mad at players shunning us just for going for more money, then you may aswell just have a go at every decent player who will ever come through our doors. At this level, players are literally playing for their retirements and playing to pay mortgages etc.
  19. Same story as usual! and one for the optimists - It's not over yet!
  20. Has Hazell been sent off for a professional foul? If so, the resulting pen and going 2-0 down is hardly the fault of the keeper or the fault of the manager either. Its gonna have to be one hell of a pep talk at half time if we're gonna get enything out of this game. Sods law we'll beat Doncaster away! KTF
  21. 7 days, isnt Crossley out for at least 2 weeks?
  22. I'd like to think that Coventry had just beaten us to the push to sign Schmeichel and that it wasnt a case of City not wanting him to play League 1 football, personally I'd say there is not much difference between Coventry(lingering above relegation spots) and us(Lingering just below play offs). Should players get a choice in whether they want to go to a club on loan or not? My work contract clearly states that if my company want me to work in another office, then I have no say in the matter. Well I do, but I'd be looking for a new job if I refused.
  23. Having looked at the table, we're not the only team that has been inconsistent this year, there is only 7pts from Forest (4th) down to Northamton (12th) and only 3pts between 5th and 11th place.
