  1. Bearing in mind the club is skint and can only make offers within limited financial constraints, what offers do you suggest then? Also bearing mind the clubs skint and hopefully moving to a new ground, what facility improvements do you think they should make? Granted the knocking down of the lookers was a bad move in hindsight, but blimey, its been down over 2 years, its time people let it go...
  2. If it falls through, and there's no contingency plan for a new ground, I agree it's time to worry. But until then, it's no help to the club bellyaching and hypothesising about the club's demise. Until we move, we have to put up with Boundary Park and survive within our means. If people are using Boundary Park as a reason not to come, then I say feck 'em, because there's nothing we can do to get them back at the moment - people just have to suck it up and hope the futures brighter. Corney might have said we'll be there by Spring 2010, but I think you have to take a possibly misguided media quote with a pinch of salt as the likes of Oxford and Brighton have found out, it is never that straight forward.
  3. Really? Short of giving away tickets for free in the unrealistic hope that some might return, while risking the wrath of those that pay, what can they do?
  4. Well the grand plan has to be move to Failsworth. After that, it just has to be financial survival, like it always has been, even if it means a relegation. Some people seem very quick to claim the club is on it's last legs just because we're only getting 3,500 home fans, but there are clubs in much more dire straits than us who seem to be getting by. The plan has to be survive as a business, move to Failsworth, and then plan a sustainable future from there.
  5. Observations on my first home games of the season: - Stephens either wants "resting" or a kick up the @rse. - Feeney brings nothing to the party. - While some people find them annoying, got to hand it to the 50 or so youngsters in the Rochdale Road End, who make a real effort to create some sort of atmosphere. Without them, the level of atmosphere would rarely rise above "library" status. Keep up the good work!
  6. I say heads down and stop worrying about it. People just don't want to come anymore, so feck 'em. The club has done all they can to get fans back, but no ones biting. There's nothing more we can do. It's sad, but the club will just have to cut their cloth accordingly. It's awful, people moaning every week about the attendance but we've just got to accept the situation, because it seems there's nothing we can do about it.
  7. I'll be there. A Bees-supporting workmate will also be joining us from Cardiff.
  8. Sadly atmosphere has to be much lower down on the priority list that making cash. Latics fans don't seem to want to come and watch us, so we might as well make money out of away fans that do!
  9. Would take that. However, when our opposition is looking for a confidence boost, we usually give it to them! I'm going to go for a defeat similar to yesterday, or a two or three nil loss, I'm afraid..... Either way, it wouldn't be the end of the world. Wednesday have bigger resources than us so, like most of their games in this division, they should win.
  10. I would certainly consider bringing in Jarrett for M'Voto, if Gregan's not up to task. I think Hazell's centre-back parter is probably the weak link in our defence.
  11. I'd be delighted if we got anything out of the game on Tuesday. Poor form or not, Wednesday still have excellent options in attack and they're just waiting to get their eye in. With our indifferent defence, who's to say Tuesday won't be a good opportunity for them to show what they can do? While the team shouldn't need motivating to play on a stage like Hillsborough, Dickov's main job will be to ensure that yesterday's frustrating defeat hasn't knocked our confidence too much.
  12. It's fixtures like this that make playing in this division so dull. I've lost count of the number of times we've played here over the years. Brighton should be one of the top away days of the season but the ground's a fair way from the coast, offers the worst view of the game in the league and has just two really average pubs within walking distance. Anything up to 150, I reckon. We've seen it, done it and only return through duty.
  13. I disagree. What evidence is there to suggest that we can get a larger support on a consistent basis? The casual fan only seems to want to turn out if it’s free or £2 – they’re not willing to meet the club half way. We’ve had a good start to the season, yet the gates are reducing. Slashing the entrance fee over a long period is too much of a risk for the club. I don’t think there’s anything we can do at the moment. The Oldham public are just not interested. It’s sad, but I think the club would be better concentrating their efforts on seeking income from elsewhere. There’s no way we can rely on the assumption that we’ll get more fans through the gate if we play well – it just ain’t going to happen. £20 isn’t an unreasonable amount to charge, I don’t think. We paid £20 at Peterborough last week and that was standing!
  14. Things just seem to be getting worse for our much-missed striker. Brought on as sub, then sent-off 18 minutes later!: http://www.mansfieldtown.net/page/MatchRep...5~54452,00.html
  15. I'm also out - getting dragged to Liverpool v Sunderland. Have a good one anyway, Mr W.
  16. I did not know this - a few beer vouchers saved. Should be there by midday. In Peterborough, The Cherry Tree is usually the pub of choice.
  17. It's definitely "butt". With regards to LGH, when it comes to her bit, I half expect her to hold up a painting which "Johnny, aged 6 from Burnley has sent in of his favourite footballer" rather than read out peoples serious opinion. Jackie Oakley did it one week and she did an alright job.....
  18. How to look good naked. Christmas. Welshisms ("Where you to?", "Alright, butt!", "by there"). Lizzie Greenwood-Hughes. Facebook.
  19. There's direct trains on the hour and at 10 past and half past the hour. I'm also booked on the midday train, but only have a semi-realistic chance of making it. It should be OK to get a later train if necessary, unless there's a real jobsworth ticket inspector on the train....
  20. Cheers for that. With regards a meeting place, this is where I was thinking: http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/11/116/ If it's not there anymore, just aim for the most "obvious" pub-like hostalry in the station, I suppose! My coach from Cardiff gets into Victoria at 11:35, traffic etc. being well, so will hopefully be there by midday.
  21. If it's the same group, then they were talked about on Five Live as they were also at Tranmere. Apparently they were dignitaries over from the J-League. They were visiting a few clubs in the North-West to try and get some ideas from the way our clubs are run, to take back and use over there. Investors they weren't, unfortunately..
  22. Should be a group getting the train from Kings Cross around midday. Think there's a Coopers Bar on one of the platforms, which might be a good place to meet (although not sure if this is still there since the Eurostar developments!).
  23. Anyone know how he played tonight? Great result for them - hopefully that will give Feeney a bit of a confidence boost.
