  1. Who and what do thay do? Maybe there's a learning opportunity here.
  2. There's pretty much nothing we can do about the facilities in the ground at the moment. If people are using the facilities at the ground as a reason not to come at the moment, then I say forget about them for the time being. The club are doing all they can to move to a new ground but until that happens, we'll have to make do with what we've got.
  3. It’s depressing, but I think we now have to accept that we just don’t have the support anymore. No one seems interested in initiatives that the club have offered on tickets and even when the team is playing well, these “stayaways” don’t seem to want to come back. I don’t blame the club for not wanting to drop the entrance fee – apart from when it’s free or £2, when has there been evidence that potential fans have been willing to meet the club halfway and turn up with these initiatives? This “there are many factors why I don’t go” excuse doesn’t hold much water. It’s a football team, so surely you want to be there to see the team playing well? If good football doesn’t bring you back, then I think there’s probably no way of getting you back now and those that are still actively supporting the club should stop worrying about trying to keep you happy. It seems you’re trying too hard to find reasons not to come.
  4. I quite like Savage - he tells it like it is and is funny with it. On a semi-related theme, Colin Murray seems to be fitting in well as MOTD2 presenter. In the after-match interview, Joey Barton said he was relieved he could shave his tash off after scoring for Newcastle because "his Mrs had threatened to leave him". Murray's response back in the studio: "To be fair, Joey, if she hasn't left you by now, she never will do...". Raised a smile from me, anyway..........
  5. You're not even listening are you? You people...........
  6. So our fans gave Abbott abuse yesterday, yet Hughes got a got a good reception last week? Fuzzy logic from our lot..........
  7. She comes accross like she's on loan from CBBC too.....
  8. http://beta.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00t...2011_Episode_3/ 42.53 mins.
  9. Funny - they didn't bring that many more to Boundary Park last season than we took yesterday, and thats when they could have sealed promotion! Sounds like sour grapes on their part after a great day all round for us.........
  10. Bit of a leftfield one, but when we won 2-1 at Swindon under Brian Talbot, which pretty much guaranteed our survival after the summer when Chris Moore nearly broke us. Paul Murray and Jermaine Johnson scored. 300 Latics fans sung "Oh when the blues" for the whole of the second half without pausing for breath.......
  11. Gutted to be missing Charlton. Four weeks are definitely going to drag until Peterborough!
  12. Thought on Latics World it said it was 6000, with 600 from County?
  13. We've had it in the second half because Roy Butterworth says "he fancies it" ("it" being us to win, rather than a pie, a scrap or a new coat) on Latics World. Don't think he's ever heard the term "Commentators Curse".
  14. Jarrett can play out wide, can't he? I'm hoping for: GK - Brill RB - Lee CB - M'Voto CB - Hazell LB - Black RM - Millar CM - Jones CM - Stephens LM - Taylor (or, if injured, Jarrett) ST - Allesandra ST - Feeney SUBS: Tankoure, Kelly, Furman, Gregan, Fleming, Holdsworth.
  15. How many senior goals have they scored between them? We sign Baxter on loan, say, and the stats don't look much better. Blackpool throw in a cheeky bid and he scores a hat-trick against a half-@rsed Bolton team in a pre-season friendly and all of a sudden Eaves is the answer, in a lot of peoples eyes. The lad doesn't need the pressure of being our first choice striker yet. Still think we're going to do alright next season as Dickov will have the team playing attractive football with passion, etc. but I think we've made life harder for ourseleves by getting rid of Abbott.
  16. The only bit I disagree with. Your right Hughes did take a chance and the consequences of it not coming off were tragic. King, however, didn't take any chances - it seems he intended to commit the crime, and probably would have got away with it if he could. Anyway, hopefully it is a nonsence arguement as I hope he comes nowhere near out club.
  17. (and I hate using smileys..........) If we have to go down the route of which atrocity was worse out of Hughes's and King's, I'd say Hughes didn't really set out to hurt anyone. King, on the otherhand, knew exactly what he was doing.
  18. Not the best - did anyone hear what the attendance was?
  19. Is this thread intended to decide who will be target number one for the boo-boys next year?? Ridiculous......... If there is a problem within the camp, then I hope Dickov can sort it and keep Abbott because he's the only player we have (or likely to have) for next season who is a proven goal-scorer.
  20. Sounds like a plan - a good way of getting the exiles involved, who can't get to Boundary Park that often, too. Might be stupid question, but I take it you could you pay more than £1 a month, if you wanted?
  21. I don't think the current location is a factor. It's not as if the Oldham public have shown how potentially well supported the club could be where it is now.
  22. 2,500, according to this: http://www.footballgroundguide.com/tranmere_rovers/
  23. I'd go for: GK Brill RB Lee CB Hazell CB Gregan (if fit) LB Black RW Taylor CM Jones CM Stephens LW Jarrett ST Feeney ST Brooke Dickov said he wants to give youth a chance, which is why Brooke or Eaves might get the nod ahead of Abbott. He also said Taylor is going to be crucial to proceedings, so reckon he might stick him on the right wing, if he's more comfortable there. Smalley will probably also be on the bench if fit. Can Jarrett play left wing?? If not, maybe some City Youth teamer on loan....
  24. Ha! Fair point. I think I was being a bit generous with the Vernon comparison, anyway. Eaves has yet to score against City, for starters. After he's done that for us we can swap him for a Wellens........or even a Whittaker!
  25. What if he doesn't start firing them in, though? I say a bird in hand is worth two in the bush - cash in our pocket with sell-ons has got to be the safer option. Let another club see what they can do with him as I get the feeling he could be the next Scott Vernon if he stays here.
