  1. 'er indoors and myself get in at midday. Your beer vouchers will be waiting.
  2. Fantastic! The travelling is usually the highlight of the day!
  3. It would be nicer if we could watch us beat a team AND take cash off 2,000+ off their supporters every week..........
  4. Just been having this rant at the Mrs (a Reds fan) - it always turns out OK for the big clubs. Liverpool will come out the otherside of their troubles smelling of roses. Back in the Champions League in two years. For us, a small, "insignificant" club who bring little cash and glamour to the world of football, it will be a much harder struggle......
  5. Wouldn't the simplest short-term solution be just to win promotion? We get £3 million off the Championship, instead of the paltry £350k we get at the moment in this league. Instead of spending it all on the over-inflated wages of "Championship quality" players, we stick with our current squad and give them the opportunity to play at a higher level. Even if we get relegated, the extra revenue will allow us to function while the finishing touches are put on a new ground and £1.5 million yearly losses are a thing of the past. Sorted.
  6. Lets hope this happens, then we can shift Purdie, Worthington, etc there!
  7. It's comments like this that make me wonder why Corney doesn't say "F**k this, I'm off! These miserable bunch of so and so's can bankroll their own sodding club". Course they've made mistakes - which owners and businessmen haven't, but FFS, it seems Corney at least is staying around to try and make it right. From Barry Owen's other thread, it appears the board do read some of the drivel that's written on here - I just hope they realise it doesn't represent the opinion of the majority.
  8. Either Forest Green, Newport, Southport or Bromley away, please. Who will we get? MK Dons at home........
  9. So, does this mean we remain the last supporters to represent Latics on Soccer AM?? Big tens all round......
  10. Agreed - our fans do seem to have a habit of wanting the cloud to go with the silver lining.
  11. I disagree and thinks that's incredibly harsh. If he's such a cheat, you've got to wonder why he hasn't been booked/sent-off more for diving?
  12. No, but I suck it up and accept its part of the game. Got to be honest, I'm not sure why Latics fans are suddenly jumping on him for diving and cheating. It just seems to have stemmed from the frustrated and bitter rants on the Brentford forum. I'd say Taylor makes the most of fouls to ensure he gets free-kicks - no problem with this at all, as he's been fouled. I can't ever really remember him blatantly diving. To call him "a disgrace to the club and football" is just daft.
  13. Meh, he's finding his form again after last year and his general game doesn't offend me in any way - definitely not any disgrace to the club. The amount of times over the years we've been wound up by cheating little gobs***es, it's nice to have one of them working for us for a change! Keep up the good work CT, I say! Just on yesterday, the more I look at the tackle for the penalty, the worse it looks. Studs up, aiming for Chris' ankle - Bees fans can have no complaints.
  14. Seriously? Went to the game yesterday and he didn't see him do much cheating, so have no idea what the Brentford fans' problem is, let alone our own fans.........
  15. I think you're right. However, if we can defend for 90 minutes like we did after we scored, we're not far off being pretty tight. It was a great day. Hard to pick a man of the match, because I think they all did well, although Evira deserves a mention - great debut and looks as if he's picked up the passion as he was organising the defence at set pieces and even went and pushed Dean Brill about after he missed a cross! Thought the first goal was also fantastic. A couple of Bees fans in the Griffin afterwards said we were the best team they've played so far. They also praised our support - they reckoned there was about 500 there. Didn't think there was that many, but couldn't see how full the seating area was. Taggart celebrating the second goal with us when he was walking back to the dug out after half-time was a nice moment....
  16. Maybe we shouldn't try and copy their financial strategy exactly, but Millwall's ground (minus the thugs...) makes for a good all round match day experience and this has probably helped contribute to improvements on the pitch too. If someone offered to me Millwall's league position and facilities in ten years time for Latics, I'd take it.
  17. This is imperative at the new ground. Millwall thought of it 17 years ago when they built the New Den. Hopefully Latics have taken note.
  18. Taggart would be my first port of call, I think...........
  19. FFS, I know we're skint but show some dignity! Trying to get City fans (most of whom probably view us as the ugly, unwanted step-child of Greater Manchester) to come and see their former heros in our own back yard is about as low as it gets...... Can't we just rob a bank or something instead.
  20. Strike up a deal with Manchester/Oldham public transport that means if you buy a match-ticket in advance (or have a season ticket) you can use public transport to get to Boundary Park for free. Add two tabs to each ticket - one for your outward journey, one for your return, that get torn off by the ticket inspector.
  21. New ground. Promotion. Don't get relegated. In that order!
  22. Patronise them if you must, but there wouldn't be anything nearly representing some sort of atmosphere at Boundary Park without them.
  23. I think we know from our OASIS days that the club can sometimes be quite difficult to deal with sometimes in terms of organisation, marketing and PR. It's hard to imagine there's been many dramatic changes since... Regarding the running out of pies thing - isn't this the same at all clubs? Of all the away grounds I've been to, very few have anything more adventurous than lukewarm tea and a Mars Bar left at half-time.
