  1. But you highlighted it......so I'm assuming you agree with it.
  2. That must go down as one of your dumbest comments. Gardner has been the subject, over the last couple of weeks, of endless criticism, so your 'free pass' comment is just nonsense.
  3. Go on...I'll bite. With whom have the club shown inconsistencies? BUT you have to give some allowances to AL as he has admitted making mistakes last season in your response.
  4. I would say most of those players of past times who are still being talked about have earned the right to be discussed.
  5. Sounds a lot better than "Byrne is an arrogant, disruptive little tw*t and we don't want him anywhere near the first team"......I think yours is a better sales pitch whereas mine is probably nearer the mark.
  6. Why should he disclose the reasons? It's a "behind closed doors" issue and maybe Fane acknowledged, for whatever reason he was suspended, and apologised. You are not entitled to know. As Dave stated above, AL has admitted he has made mistakes.....you seem to want a full warts-and-all explanation so you can throw further rocks. The outcome reached has suited all parties. Just as an aside because you are a staunch Byrne defender......is there any reason, in your mind, that Byrne can be blamed for what has gone on?
  7. Mere trifling, old boy...…..things to be glossed over. No matter how many times you mention valid reasons such as the above, there are some who would argue that inclusion in the team because of his skill is paramount and any detrimental and unsettling behaviour is not Byrne's fault but that of the City, Blackburn, Wigan and now Oldham management/owners/coaching staff for not letting him have his own way and, foolishly, expecting him to be a squad member first.
  8. Yep, you're right. Gerald Sinstadt…...another crap ITV commentator.
  9. Bluddy Hell.....It takes me back to my old Physics teacher, Mr. Cambridge trying to tutor the great unwashed in Astronomy at St. Albans RC in the 70's.
  10. But...but...but...doncha know we would have won 10-1 with Byrne in there!!!
  11. Don't worry....you'll soon get the hang of it.
  12. And therein lies the problem in my opinion.
  13. Bluddy Hell......you missed an opportunity in not applying then. But all you state and keep stating is the same point.....we all agree that Byrne has more talent than most of the team but with that talent comes responsibility. He had the opportunity to be a member of this squad but allegedly threw his toys out of the pram just as he did with City, Blackburn and Wigan.....Why is/was that?
  14. Simple question requiring a binary answer. Do you know more about how to build a team than Bunn and Rhodes?
  15. You don't give up, do you!!! A full-arsed Byrne was influential in about half-a-dozen games last year with the remaining games a sulky tw*t but that, in your eyes, should have been enough to make him our midfield general this season. I take the view that he would have had a mega-strop if he was tackled out of a couple of games and then substituted......oh, I forgot....just like last season. So every time we drop points, will it be a cue for you to bang the Byrne drum or are you going to grow up and understand that Byrne was not bigger than Oldham Athletic and finally stop this repetitive sh*t?
  16. If there was an indication before he signed of getting to that level, he wouldn't be here...…..we were probably the best choice of a pool of one.
  17. There are so many questions running round my head so I'll throw them out to the local intelligentsia: - Is Gardner missing Fane playing behind him? - Is Gardner being kept in until the Villain becomes fit and available? - Is Hunt better at left back (and as such Taylor's deputy in the squad) based on his performance last week? - Should Hamer come in at right back and when fit, Dummigan in front of him.
  18. Once again, he wasn't "on it"...more to the point, he was nowhere near "on it". I like Gardner, but his confidence is "shot to pieces"...….so how many more starting opportunities should he have?
  19. Quite a few people who attended the match said, on this very forum, he had a very good game on Tuesday.
  20. Of course he'd want Byrne back in the team...I don't think anyone would deny that...….but on whose terms? If you have 23 out of 24 professionals toeing the line, professionally on and off the field....why would you let one (however much potential he has) think he is above the training regime that the rest of the team and the management endorse?
  21. AC.....do you wake up in the morning and think "I'm going to bore the message board again with my thoughts on the chairman"?
  22. Maybe he wants to keep him but he's got to 'muck in' and be part of the team in a division he made a major contribution towards getting us into.
