As has been said before, Nixon throws out enough crap on all clubs that a very tiny percentage turns out to be true. So he's hardly credible. How many stories has Nixon put out in the last couple of years about Latics that have turned out to be bollox?

Should the club put out a statement every time a negative story is printed? Or should it quietly go about it's business? I'll go for the latter As for sensationalism......I find it funny that so many people virulently complain/condemn on here about the quality of the Mail's journalism but accept Keegan's stories because they go unchallenged.

I didn't specifically mention Keegan but now you've brought his name up, I will say he is prone to sensationalism hence we are still waiting for this big (his words) close season story. We heard stories from a number of posters with varying sources and Keegan himself posted twice that the players hadn't been paid and someone else in between had stated the players had been paid with the Trust also saying that, according to their information wages had been paid. Based on that.....I don't have a source and am still no wiser but I'm leaning towards the players being paid as it's all gone quiet

Won't really make any difference...the same news-b*stards will still be hovering next month to see if the players have been paid and they will only stop if it's not an issue for several months.

I'm guessing we would have heard, very loudly and very clearly, if the players hadn't been paid. Plenty of people on here claim to have an unimpeachable source.

Are you sure you are a Latics Fan? Keegan says the players haven't been paid according to his source and you are quiet. The Trust says "The information we're getting back at the moment is quite the opposite" and you question the Trust's source. I can't understand why you didn't question Keegan instead of blindly accepting his version?

That's not strictly true...….every time Gardner went for a through ball, Mansfield's players ran on to them perfectly.

Have to agree with previous comments about how poor we were. Having said that, Mansfield's midfield were very good as a unit. I'm looking back at our team last night and sympathised with our defence.....our midfield offered nothing and were left to lump the ball up to our 2 lumps. Missile did what we all expected of him which was to tackle, Dummigan is not a right sided midfielder and is clearly not match fit. Why does Bunn keep playing Lang on the left.....he is so right footed, his left leg is there only to stop him falling sideways off the toilet. As for Gardner, that was his worst performance I have witnessed this season. I am struggling to believe that Maouche u could make that midfield worse. We should gloss over last night's forwards......no, change that....they were crap.....having said that, they had no quality ball to deal with but I need to add that anything of any substance would have been a waste. Our defence as a unit was ok, all things considered. For the Carlisle match, I would move Lang to the right and bring Nepo back to the left. If fit, put Surridge up front with Baxter. Sadlly, I'm expecting more of the same.

I could be wrong on this bit, I think Whitehall turned Desailly in the penalty box and could have had a clear shot if Desailly hadn't embarrassingly fallen over and the ref, Paul "Pickled" Durkin, hadn't blown for a very dodgy foul.
