  1. This. Has international clearance come through? Can he only play in reserves?
  2. Many thanks indeed. I now know where to find this.
  3. Thanks. You would think the official site could keep up to date wouldn't you?
  4. Can anyone produce a definitive squad list as the official site seems incomplete, no JCH, big Eddie (the Latvian) nor Adam Rooney. Thanks in anticipation.
  5. Jimmy (Mr Oldham Athletic) Frizzell every time. He saved the club from having to go through re-election (failure to get re-elected could have meant non-league period), two promotions and the Ford Stand. Big Joe gave us the 'pinch me' seasons, but he built on firm foundations set up by Jimmy Frizzell.
  6. Does the club really get £'s or even pence every for 'hit' - in that case I see good reason to visit it every day. If so I will 'hit' as often as practicable.
  7. I do not understand why TP says he is not cut out for management because dropping a player is difficult to live with, but as Youth Boss he decides that careers are over for many youngsters. I can understand that he may feel uncomfortable with decisions regarding contracts and who to bring in from outside, but at the moment what we need is a steady hand with what we have got until the end of the season.
  8. Stood at the RR end with my dad. Liverpool's winner was hotly contested, not unlike the goal England scored against Germany in the World Cup of '66. It was reported, or reputed that Jack Rowley searched, with light from a cigarette lighter, and found the mark of the ball on the cross bar after the match. Evidence the the ball could not have crossed the line. I also remember the crush barrier in the Chaddy end collapsing.
  9. Who's moaning? I see posts voicing concern. There is nothing I would like better than to have the points in the bag so we could build for next season.
  10. Could not agree more. I saw the Orient game as our only banker 3 points. It could be nip and tuck for relegation.
  11. 1st November 1958 Oldham 3 Watford 5. Age 10 my Dad took me. Division 4 gate 6,441 Seen it all, Latics have been ruining my Saturday teatime for over 50 years and not about to get better I fear.
  12. On Balance Oldham Athletic is a football club that has more often than not spoiled my Saturday teatime for over 60 years. My first memories are of my mum and I listening to ‘Sports Report’ on the radio to find out what mood dad would be in when he got in from the match. I was brought up on my dad’s stories of Gemmell and Burnett and the day the Latics needed a draw away to Bradford to clinch the Div 3 championship; of the disappointment when the board failed to invest and relegation followed the next year. My first match 1 November 1958 – lost 3-5 to Watford – hooked! The arrival of Bobby Johnstone (probably the best player ever to wear the latics strip) and my hero Jimmy (Mr Oldham Athletic) Frizzell in 1960 were landmarks. Since then the memories are too numerous, but the following stick out: FA cup against Liverpool (1961), over 40,000 at Boundary Park see us robbed by an Ian St John goal that never crossed the line (just like the England goal of 66), Boxing Day 1962, the 11-0 beating of Southport, Bert Lister scores 6. The Ken Bates years, highs followed by a desperate low when the man lost interest and wanted his money back! Jimmy Frizzell takes us from bottom of Fourth Division to the Second collecting the Ford Stand along the way. 1971, my dad collapsing in the Chaddy and being pronounced dead in the tunnel during the first match in the Third Division against Bolton, The diabolical treatment of Jimmy and the appointment of Joe Royale, this nearly finished my support. The pinch me years (Joe is forgiven), The nightmare of near extinction, And now the hoped for resurgence of the team’s fortunes, but looks as though we are to leave Boundary Park - don’t know how to cope with this at present, but being an Oldham fan is having to cope with set back and disappoinment.
  13. What's the half time score - or should the site put the clocks back?
  14. Only if they believe we can manage our affairs. The Greeks thought they were on a free ride and that it would all be alright on the night!
  15. No they are just the people who lent, and are still lending, us the money! Ignore them at your peril.
  16. Third division town, third division team, third division attendances and a strictly non-league ground! This club does not have a hope in hell of attracting the right kind of player to gain promotion, nor will it attract any investor with a modicum of business acumen. The so called redevelopment is dead and will not happen in the forseeable future. Face it, next season will be a battle against relegation! TTA must love this club to be pouring their hard earned cash down the drain each week! Cannot see that happening for much longer!! Having said we'll all be there hoping against hope!!
  17. If Joe gets us to the play offs, that will be remarkable. If he gets us to Wembley, that will be a miracle. If he gets us to the Championship then it is truly the 'second coming' - I live in hope. What he must not do is stay if these things do not come to pass, because he will surely end up leaving the club under a cloud and, for what he has done for the club in the past, he does not deserve that. Joe now probably realises the size of the task in front of him, and if he is wise he will say goodbye at the end of the season. In the meantime let's hope it is a 'second coming'.
  18. I believe that the Council Tax payers of Greater manchester will have to pick up the bill for any overspend, so some will pay the full charge and will also pay the overspend - which as with most things is a near certanty.
  19. I still believe a compromise would weaken the authotity of the Fa/FL. If Leeds were treated unfairly and that was clear in the judgement then there can be no argument the points must be returned. This would not remove the right of FA/FL to deduct points, but raises grave questions about their credibility. I know not a lot of credibility already with one law for the big clubs and another set of laws for the rest and I am sure many could give examples.
  20. Surely the legal process will consider wheter or not the penalty was legal? If it was legal then the FA/FL were in order to make the deduction. If it was not legal then the points will be returned and this would imply the FA/FL do not have the right to deduct points. If a deal has been struck then I suspect the FA/FL are not convinced that they have the legal basis for point deduction. If this is the case then they have no sanction available against any club and those who have been deducted points in the past may wish to sue. Any outcome other than the 15 point penalty stays will weaken the FA/FL. As for people not believing this is fair - all clubs have known of this scenario from day one. Who says life is fair?
