  1. I guess that is one of the down sides of posting on the internet. It is very hard to interpret if someone is genuine or not in what they are saying, and the intent of the poster makes a huge difference. E.g. If I said I heard <insert player> was having a trial at Oldham, and I was doing it just to get a reaction - then that is pretty pathetic and it is right for the members of the board to be upset. If I truly believed it and heard it from a credible source, but it turned out not to happen - then I would expect a bit more tolerance from other members. The amount of these false posts by certain members of this board makes a reasonable person deduce that they are just fishing for reactions. That does not mean that this is the case though. I for one am guilty of not taking into account that some members may not be as able as other people in certain areas, but that doesn't mean they should be stopped from posting or abused for any reason. I think face to face, people make a lot more allowances for the differences people have - and most of these problems we have on this board would not occur in the first place. I do think that the mods on here do a good job, but this is one of the areas I thought they did the wrong thing by not stopping certain posters. It turns out I was wrong, and I apologise if I offended anyone.
  2. Yeah, I expect him probably start a few games too. Would love to say we will have 4 strikers in front of him in the pecking order, but I just can't see it at the minute. <offtopic> What does the second F stand for in BOGOFF? Reminds me of the simpsons "Come to Homer's BBBQ, the extra B stands for BYOBB" "What's that extra B for?" (points to the second B in BYOBB) "That's a typo" </offtopic>
  3. Yeah, I am tired of looking at clubs around us in the table getting some pretty good PL youngsters on loan - and wondering why we always miss out. I am hoping PD will reverse our fortunes with it.
  4. The 12 month (size, not age of kit ) home kit I got for my young'en had the label sewed into the wrong side of the shorts. It was nearly as long as the length of the shorts too. Cabrini quality really leaves a lot to be desired. To be honest, this is the first year I am very reluctant to buy the kits for me and the kid. It isn't even the money thing, it is purely a voting with my feet thing to try and affect change or manufacturer, or at least a quality upgrade. Before I read this, I thought I was just being picky, and all other fans must be fine with them. I always have to buy the shirts without seeing them, and now reading this makes me extremely worried that the quality has dipped since last year. I still don't know if I will buy it - I do proudly wear them all over Aus. Dilemma.
  5. I'll be there for Rochdale, Southampton and Brentford. I am pretty pumped for it, AH better not get it moved!
  6. Or repeat offenders of blatently made up "rumours" could be told to post their "rumours" in one thread or section. Then normal users here could just ignore said thread or section. The problem I have is I read the thread title first, and click through. It is only after I see who the O.P. is that I swear and leave the site. It really makes this place less attractive to visit. Personally I would ban the repeat offenders of made up rumours, but that is just my opinion.
  7. Each to their own, but I come here to read about the club and goings on. I get my entertainment in other places. If people find nonsensical ramblings entertaining, then all power to them.
  8. I think the mods let a lot of things go on here that most boards would remove. Like certain people (who can't spell) posting made up crap on here, reporting it as fact or rumour. To say they are over the top I believe is very harsh indeed.
  9. I am pretty happy, if it is true. The ass man is very important with a player manager expected to pull on the boots most games, so would be delighted with Bunn as the ass man In my view, we are never going to get a proven manager with a good cv at the club. It was either an experienced manager, with a mostly bad record; or a hungry inexpereinced guy with a great knowledge of football. Hopefully Dickov can be the latter. May be a great success and get us promoted (unlikely but we gotta have hope), it may be a huge failure. But either way, it can't be much worse than Penney.
  10. You think? With all the postponments, the players only have to turn out for 90mins a month. Pretty sweet working life if you ask me!
  11. For all those in Aus, the game is live on Setanta sports! No crappy internet feed for me! Edit: Damn, I am so excited. Not seen the boys live on tv for AGES!
  12. Grew up in a red scum house, and I guess I wanted to rebel and support someone different. At the time, when I was about 8, Liverpool were beating manure a lot and so I kinda supported them for a year or so. I had been to the FA Cup final a few times before, but never to a league game, and I kept bugging my dad to take me to a match. Went to Ashton United a few times, then begged my Dad to take me to the latics. It was awesome, I still remeber the first game vividly. I couldn't believe how close I was to these famous guys. Ever since then I have been hooked on latics. I went with my dad a few more times, then with a friend and his older brother. Pretty much went every home game from then until I moved I miss the rocky road so much. Was always devastated when the away fans took up all of the rocky. Not been now for like 5 years
  13. Imagine trying to stumble home drunk from the stadium. 9 times out of 10 you end up all wet and salty. (not going any further with that one )
  14. I think you are missing the point. Carl is saying that the new stadium will be in the area marked M35 on the map (which is the postcode, but that isn't relevant). According to the map, M35 is part of Oldham and not Manchester. Even if Oldham moved to Manchester, watching Oldham in Manchester is still infinitely better than there being no OAFC anymore. If TTA's said it is up to the fans, we either move the stadium or let the club die - how many of you nay sayers would vote for the club to die? TTA's have done so much for this club, and if this move makes our survival more sure, then it is exactly what we need and should do.
  15. Stu was pretty awesome. He sorted out my billing problem with Latics World within half a day of me emailing him, when I had contacted premiumtv twice and heard nothing for over a week. (No listening to the latics for a whole week!!!) I was a bit nervous about a new webmaster as the fishal (and this site) are my only real links to my beloved Oldham since my move to Aus. I didn't need to be concerned though, congrats on the new appointment Ackey, I am sure you will do an excellent job.
  16. Such a shame to see him go. Remember that wonder goal at Everton? We are really gonna miss............ wait a minute!!
  17. He has Greek heritage which would qualify him for the EU.
  18. Chris Kozionas was on an Aussie show Football Superstar, where the winner gets a contract with Melbourne Victory. Chris got to the final three, but got pipped at the post. He looks like a classy finisher and I am shocked he didn't win. Oldham could do a lot worse than giving the lad a try out if they can get him to come on trial in England. Only 20, he really looks like one for the future. I am not really sure how this kind of thing works, but if Oldham have any links to Aussie clubs (Pogs etc), he is worth a look. http://www.fox8.foxtel.com.au/Shows/footba...ionas/index.htm You can flame me for this if you want
  19. I find this very puzzling indeed. All the money that TTA pour into the club, I cannot believe that this was motivated by money. I cannot see Blackpool paying a substantial fee for the loan, if a fee at all, either. If there were two better strikers at the club, then you could kind of understand it. But it just smacks of us throwing in the towel and giving up on any slim chance of us playing championship football next season, and I cannot believe this either. I am betting even more things have gone on in the dressing room that we don't know (even though there has been a lot reported on these boards). Him not being a latic next year is no reason to give up on playoff chances, especially after all the money that has been spent on him. I am sure Joe, or whoever has decided that he is bad for the club and he needs to go. This is a shame as he was the only proven striker we had on our books, but we have to put our faith that the decision makers are doing what is best for the club. I hope Kabba and the home growns can do the impossible and still get us into the championship. Until is is mathematically impossible, I will still be hoping.
  20. This is not about performances, it is about attitude. True, he has not performed, but his attitude stinks and that is what most people on here are pissed off about. If Scholes did what Windass did, then the reaction would be no different on here. But anyone that knows Scholes knows this would never happen. Scholes would give 100% of himself to any team he played for, let alone the team he still passionatly supports. Windass is clearly not blessed in the brains department, and wishes he was banging them in for Hull. Now he has realised he cannot play for Hull this season and has come back with his tail between his legs. All the crap about being misquoted on his blog is just crap. Even if it is true, he is still responsible for what a guy he employs does. As far as I am concerned, he should only play as a replacement for Hughes if he is injured or suspended. Otherwise, he can make the tea. If his performances had merited a place in the team, then he would have been picked. Thing is, that 200 shirt he was wearing must have been stinking with the amount of outings it got before seeing the light of day. Any striker averaging 4 goals a season deserves to be dropped.
  21. Well done Shez. I love the fact he brought him on at the last minute....... "See, he is fit enough to play, he is just ****". Perfectly handled by Shez, I love it! Enjoy the rest of the season Dean. I am sure you have lots of things you can do around the house. You are dreaming of the prem or championship, you couldn't even do the business in League one! Totally delusional if you think you are still prem quality, I am not even sure you ever were.
  22. It is worth paying his wages for the rest of the season to make him sit in the non-existant reserves. If you don't have the drive to play for Oldham, then you shouldn't be at the club. I would say the same if it was Kaka, let alone some 39 year old has-been dreaming of 10 years ago. His comments are stupid (because it is not possible according to the FA) and hugely unprofessional. We should terminate his loan deal if there is any possible way. If Shez plays him after this, I am sure lots of us will be really really pissed off. I am sure the Oldham fans booing one of "their own" players is not the image AH wants to give off on such an important day.
