  1. It is not a modernised badge at all. It makes Oldham look like a local 5-a-side club, that had the logo design done by the managers son. I am all for change if it is 1. needed and 2. an improvement. Neither is the case with this badge. It is just terrible and will make Oldham the laughing stock of the football league. Maybe some of the more vocal people on here in support of it just don't understand logo design. Having been in the industry in the past, I can tell you that this logo would have taken no more than 5 mins to put together. If it took any longer, then the "designer" didn't know what they were doing. The logo just looks like one of the many photoshop tutorials available online. Not happy, and I don't care what anyone else on here thinks about it or my decision not to buy anything with it on.
  2. I cannot believe how bad the badge looks. Why on earth would the board allow an unskilled local guy to do something that looks like the work of an 18 yr old "web designer"? That sort of piss poor amateurish logo design may fly with some local businesses, but why didn't Oldham go to a corporate identity specialist company, instead of a one man band. Not happy at all and I will NEVER buy any product with it on. Next year will be the first year I have not owned the current Oldham shirt since the red and blue affair.
  3. I'm not saying you are wrong, because I have heard this too from another source, but I think it would be so unreasonable of Blitz to do it. I don't mind the loan being there, so if we somehow find a billionaire who feels like buying a dying club, Blitz can get his money back. But to take money from the club that is desperatly needed would be a pretty low act. I would like to think that Blitz still has enough feeling for the club to allow the club to keep any windfall they get from sell on clauses. I hope anyway.
  4. Awesome footage Lee. Sums up beautifully what that goal means to us after the drought (penalties don't count!)
  5. It would be a really bad bit of business by City to negotiate a buyout of the clause if they have no intentions of selling him. The only reason they would buyout the clause is because either they do want to sell him (so the better deal for us would be to wait - assuming we are still in business), or they can get the clause for a song (in which case Oldham would be looking at a very small amount). </!OLD RUMOUR ALERT!> I have heard that this clause is partially securing the directors loan, so the money would not be seen by the club in the event of a buyout or activation of the clause. I cannot vouch for this personally as I don't have any direct contacts on the board. Maybe someone on the board could confirm or deny this........ not mentioning any names :p
  6. Maybe you could raise some money by streaming it on the internet........ I am sure some sickos would pay for it.
  7. I have never felt so removed and helpless from OAFC. Unfortunatly, there is only one person (or three - not sure what is going on there) who has any say in the future of OAFC. Without TTA's we would have been dead a long time ago. It seems they only delayed the inevitable. I would prefer a dignified death to an undignified name change. I will never support "God knows where" Athletic. I even asked the wife's rich 2nd cousin to buy the club for me, he refused
  8. Reminds me of "The House that Love Built" on the Simpsons where the townspeople rebuild Flanders' house........ what happened to that?
  9. Totally an over-reaction. Of course all Oldham fans think we should have won against the bottom side, but football is a funny owd game. Look what happened in the prem, bottom side beat top side (not mentioning names ) One swallow doesn't make a summer, and 2 dropped points doesn't mean we are not going up......... yet.
  10. I have to agree, I think the council need to be shamed into action............ and not just with the club.
  11. I didn't think an off the cuff remark would spark this
  12. I agree Simon should put the club and it's fans ahead of making a pointless stand against the council. He should wear the "Love the Club, Hate the Town" t-shiirt
  13. I can see where you are coming from, but it is the council that have turned Oldham into the mess of a place it is now.
  14. I voted to anywhere, but I mean anywhere within an easy bus ride of Oldham. OAFC in Manchester is still better than no OAFC
  15. I think I prefer my name not to go on it
  16. At least there would be plenty of leg room for the few fans that go
  17. How about a cyclone to blow Reebok stadium to Oldham, a la Wizard of Oz
  18. It would be great to fill the stadium with people wearing t-shirts saying it. Something needs to be done to try and make a bit of news and shame the council. Edit: Or the players to wear it under their shirts to be shown after a goal
  19. Ashton seems to be the way to go for me, at least is has an Oldham postcode! From the sounds of it tho, Simon doesn't want to pay for more planning applications and all the bulldust that goes with it. Have always said, even before this mess. Oldham, love the club, hate the town.
  20. Last time I checked, PCWorld were wholly owned by Dixons. Neither PCWorld or Dixons hold any significant shareholding in Symantec, if any at all. The difference in magnitude of the two companies is HUGE. Dixons could liquidate all of their assests and still not come close to purchasing 1% of Symantec. Maybe the confusion is with PC Tools? Symantec own PC Tools, for which the owners of PC Tools got cash plus stock. Maybe someone picked up the wrong end of the stick with that one. It could be an easy mistake to make. As for the rest of the thread. Everyone is entitled to their opinion of AV software and can make their own decisions. It just bugs me when people put down a product they have clearly not even tried. Norton is so much better than Trend, McAfee, CA, etc. AVG just does not come close, and should not be run on any computer. There are a couple of other free AV programs that by far out perform AVG. I do agree with other posters on here that there are some very good AV programs out there coming from smaller compaines, but most people would use one of the big 4 on their computer. Out of these, Norton is by far the best.
  21. Never heard such bollocks spouted on a thread on OWTB (and that is saying something). Anyone who recommends AVG over Norton clearly knows nothing about the industry or subject. Norton has been a quality product for the non-tech savy since Norton 2009. Before then, I would agree it did a lot more harm than good. Symantec corportate software has been trusted and used by a lot of the worlds biggest compaines for a long long time. Since 2009, the team behind the corporate software now produce the retail Norton products. This is the reason Norton went from last to industry best in 1 year. These days, a lot of the other AV companies have closed the gap with Norton for ease of use and size of footprint, but to say Norton is crap is just nonsense. I don't work for Symantec, but I do work in the industry. LOL@PCWorld. Where do you guys come up with this stuff? As for why this forum generates false positives from AV software.... The advertising used on this website uses iFrames, in fact a particular type of iFrame that can be used to inject code into a users computer without their knowledge. This can be used for keyloggers, or trojans and could allow an attacker full control of your pc. Although this forum does not use any of this code, there is nothing to stop it doing so in the future, hence the AV software generates a warning. Hope that clears things up.
  22. Has been confirmed by PD on latics player. Lomax and Smalley until Jan - not a done deal yet but PD is confident.
  23. Reminds me of when I was a STUDENT in Leeds, and took a few of my uni mates to the Oldham vs Burnley game. 2 were burnley fans, going in the burnley end, and the two others were coming in with me. One was a Blackburn fan, and the other a Celtic fan. Got to the turnstyles and there was a chick vetting people before they were going in - (apparently the Burnley end was full which I didn't know at the time) - and she stopped the Blackburn fan and said he can't come in cos he is clearly a Burnley fan. "You'll get killed in their lovey" It didn't help that we were a bit late and missed kick off due to the M62, but it took me a good ten minutes arguing to get him in. I remember it as a good game, pretty sure it was 3-3. Made it back to the car after the final whistle, and found two very cold burnley fans waiting at the car VERY pissed off. 90 mins outside ice station zebra did not agree with them. Funny that
  24. I don't get why the chat is not open all the time
