  1. Anybody taking bets on it being a certain Paul Scholes?
  2. Zorro - you miss the point - in the grand scheme of things there are certain events closer to home that are not just massively more important but life changing. The fact that there is a final of some description in a foreign land where they think it is a world final when it is only them that play it doesn't register on the local interest levels. I know that some people do follow certain teams from the colonies, I used to take an interest in the Redskins myself, but as you see from the number of posts on the subject, there is little interest.
  3. Right - going to be a bit contraversial here. The thing i can't understand about this is that, given the population of saddleworth, why the hell are the conservatives putting up the same candidate as last time who failed dismally because (a) he isn't local - just shipped in from Bolton and ( he is coloured.(no- before you all jump on the racial bus - I'm not ethnic bias one way or the other) but knowing the majority of people in saddleworth a local white conservative candidate would win the seat easily.
  4. Visually - If you are making them can we please have some for the "larger" Gordon Lawton type people as well as the thin blokes/lasses. Many Thanks
  5. Everything seems to have gone quiet regarding Andy Butler - after Keith Hill said he was signing for us about a fortnight ago. We could do with a centre half in case Gregan isn't ready for the new season.
  6. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Gannon Anybody had a look at Jim Gannons page on wikipedia - according to it he was made Oldham manger this week and starts on the 24th May - very strange Just seen the other thread lower down - so apoligises - can someone move this or lock it or whatever you admin people do - lol
  7. Gordon and Roy on LW said it was an awful game to watch
  8. He could always do the honest thing - admit he is a failure and walk - but I can't see that somehow
  9. Well for the first time in a lifetime we can catagorically say that the season is over this year. 1st Round League Cup - Out 1st Round JPT - Out 1st Round FA Cup - Out League 1 - No chance of promotion or relegation I can really see the crowds flocking to Boundary park for the remaining fixtures now - realistically 3/4000 crowds to the end of another wasted season with nothing at all to look forward to in the immediate future. Sorry for being so downbeat - but I really don't see the point of going anymore
  10. How much are we looking at then ?
  11. So thats why we lost then - I knew there would be a good reason for it.
  12. I like your optimism but I think you are looking at it through rose coloured spectacles. If you actually think that - "But with debts wiped clean, a new stadium and to an extent, a self-sufficiant football team is an attractive proposition to an investor and it's where our hopes of future success lie." then you are in for a big shock. Try this version for a reality check:- When we move to our new state-of-the-art tin shed with the massive capacity to suit our position/ambition it will all be too evident. I think that the three amigos have realised that to turn this club round is going to cost them more money than they actually have. Consequently the move to Manchester is their "get out" clause. They are going to build this new ground using all the grants and incentives they can get, using borrowed money to fund the rest. Once it is built and in our name we take on all the debt and stumble along between the third and fourth division with the occasional decent cup run (Ha Ha Ha) playing in front of three or four thousand (as everyone is not going to go and watch us play in Manchester) the three amigos sell Boundary park, which is already in their name, pocket the money and walk away. This is a move that will possibly kill our club. The new ground location is not widely accepted by the faithfull, the capacity is being questioned, and the apparent lack of facilities is not going to generate anywhere near enough revenue to cover the losses the club will make. It fills me with fear and sends me into a deep depression thinking about it. I really do hope you are right but, honestly I can't see it.
  13. What does it do to us to be chained to fate? Is there is a way to abandon all the guides of doom funnelling the way to a hell of mediocrity and anonymity?
  14. Norman began to hyperventilate when he saw the doctor. "I'm sure I've got liver disease." "That's ridiculous," said the doctor: "You'd never know if you had liver disease. There's no discomfort of any kind." "Exactly!" said Norman. "Those are my precise symptoms."
  15. I was in Adelaide a couple of years ago and went to watch Adelaide v Sydney - surreal experience, but that is for another topic. Wandering around the cricket ground at half time(played at Adelaide Cricket Ground) - like you do - and not one but two latics shirts under the scoreboard - one from the Bovis era and one from Slumberland era. Apparently they were Oldham lads who had emigrated and liked to "fly the flag" when possible.
  16. Notice that Neil Eardley isn't even in the squad today - does this mean he is on his way somewhere - perhaps to Blackpool ? Certainly looks like it - obviously unless he is injured and we don't know about it.
  17. Saw the earlier topic about the other Hughesy and got to thinking where our old Hughesy will finish up. It would appear that Blackpool don't want him and I wouldn't have thought there would be many takers in the Championship - Thirty odd year old has been with baggage - even though he still thinks of himself as a championship player. So does anyone think we may be seeing him again next season - not with us - but for another team willing to take a chance on him - Walsall? perhaps.
  18. You obviously don't know Scholes - there is no way on this planet he will move to Ipswich. He is a local lad who will remain local and also from a practical point of view, you don't spend about £ 500,000 doing your house up and getting it just how you want it then to uproot and move.
  19. Whilst not living in cloud cuckoo land, knowing how much scholes likes being at home with his family, there are only two places he will be on 1st Sept - either at the Nike Ballpark doing his coaching badges and taking the youth team or equivalent, or having one season here as a last hurray prior to coaching at nike ballpark. The chances of him being anywhere else are virtually nil.
  20. Anybody else read the article in the Mail On Sunday. I would say that is probably the first time that Scholes himself has said he could finish his career at his beloved club. He has realised he isn't going to feature much at the Stretford Nike Ballpark and I could see him having one last go at it with us, if his legs hold out of course. Before you all shoot me down for living in cloud cuckoo land - one of the things about being a latics fan is the ability to dream - and you never lose that that belief that at some time in the future something good will happen. KTF
  21. Doing a bit of grooming eh wardle !!!! Spare bed - interested? say no more L&K
  22. I think it is a very close run thing between that one and Eardley's pathetic effort last saturday when he delicately chipped it into the midriff of one of the Tranmere players.
  23. Only one phobia - well two actually - Bad beer and cheeky apprentices !!! I'llget me coat. KTF
