  1. I don't think anyone rationally can look at the table and the fixtures left and say we are safe. We are out of the drop zone on the smallest of margins and goals are still a problem. I think that Sheridan will keep us up, but we are more at risk of relegation than we are of the play offs. The players need to feel that we are fighting for our lives. Once we get to 50 points I will think we are safe, until then we are in a relegation scrap.
  2. As much as I am pleased with the upturn in results, I do think that talk of the play-offs is something close to insanity. We have picked up points against Coventry and Chesterfield - 2 teams likely to go down - in far from convincing performances. We, based on statistics, got lucky with a point at he weekend, and whilst only lost by a late goal at MK Dons it was one way traffic. A couple of good performances - Peterborough and Charlton (although out gunned again on chances) - have been produced, but it's surely too little to get that excited? I would love to be wrong, but Shez seems to have repeated last season by managing to grind results out whilst not being that good. But given where we are, that is good enough. As for next season? A few of the current squad plus a full pre-season and new additions - I'd be hopeful that we might do something that we have not done for a while...finish with a points total starting with a 6. Something that was last achieved by Sheridan.
  3. I know, but it doesn't look like that. And as only one of them is a genuine forward it's not a surprise
  4. Reports indicate that we played one up at Swindon - hope that Shez is more adventurous at home. I think we need to try and get a partnership up front. A few options: Target man: Holloway / Erwin / Ngoo Alongside: McLoughlan / Osei / Obadeyi Few permutations there - not really seen much of any of them yet.
  5. I'd say so. A defensive team more likely to get draws?
  6. When you watch the clip you have to say it's fair and then ask what they hell was he thinking? Don't know the context - scoreline at the time, how long left, amount of time-wasting that had been going on - but still undefendable?
  7. I think if he gets enough game time you'll be paying out - I think if he plays 5 or more he'll bag at least one
  8. I think given that this entire team has performed significantly better since the change in manager, I'm of the view that I am willing to give all players a second chance. Green and Banks - players lambasted by supporters this season (and is agree I'd not seen much value in them) have looked much better in the last month. I even thought Reckord did OK in the Bradford game (putting the ball behind for a corner when he hadn't heard a shout was his only notable point of query). Erwin on Tuesday did OK except a couple of greedy moments. So I wouldn't discount him from the rest of the season. In fact, I don't think Holloway has been much better since his return than Erwin was on Tuesday. I feel that Holloways performances last season, and Erwin's this, are having influencing opinions.
  9. Always wary of teams on a run...we have a habit of ending them (good or bad). That said, with our current set of results we should go into the game with some confidence. Edmundson was at the OEC in tuesday and hoping to be training Thursday. Might be too soon for a return? Would like to see him get a go though. Holloway (also there) said he hoped to be back, so if so I'd expect to see him in the side. Obadeyi - we bring him in but has barely played. Presume he was a Shez pick so a little odd - saw 10 minutes at Chesterfield and thought he looked OK. It almost feels we have a lot of strikers (Erwin, Osei, Ngoo, Obadeyi, McLaughin, Holloway) and Shez is not ken on playing some of them.
  10. Edmundson - minor injury back in training today.
  11. I hope that isn't the case. Cannot please all the the people, but I'd hope that there was enough positive comments to show it was worthwhile.
  12. For our level he is very decent and reliable. Not sure you can say that following THAT goal - thundering shot that lad.
  13. Mentioned this recently on here. When he got substituted the home fans gave him a standing ovation and he left the pitch to chants of "There's only one Kevin Francis...". I think he almost got a third as well - might have nodded one just wide or even against the woodwork.
  14. Definitely didn't feel fleeced. Match ticket - £22 Car parking - £5 Programme - £3 Tea/coffee x2 - £3 3 course meal - £30? I think from what I saw last night, some of the boxes (i.e. Table of ten) were doing the pie and peas deal, some were doing the whole thing - so I guess it's your choice (but whole group would have to do the same if guess). Drop Jenny et al an email and they will let you know options.
  15. Definitely will be a supporters bar as well - Alan Hardy said that as well. Sorry about the positive post - but it was a really good evening. Not only did I like the stand and facilities, Barry Owen and Simon Corney were really nice people with a definitely love of the club. That's probably enough to get me barred off owtb ....
  16. I thought that whilst it was a battling performance last night, I didn't think we were outclassed or hanging on as much as we were against Coventry. We scored a great goal, we hit the woodwork once (maybe twice), we had some good breaks where a slightly earlier ball in might have got us another goal or two (an underlying problem we have at he moment to be honest and not just a dig at Erwin from last night), and a couple of chances flashed past the post from tight angles. Yes Charlton had chances too, but I felt we were good value for the result. All round a good team performance and wouldn't lambast anyone. Some of the players I have not been impressed by this season so far (Erwin, Ngoo, Banks, Green) judged "fresh" on last nights games all did well IMO, others remained solid. I don't think anyone had a standout game, but no one had a stinker either. A solid home performance - not outstanding but a few more like that and we will claim our rightful place this season with just over 50 points and 17th place.
  17. There is the opportunity to stay in the restaurant area with the bar and keep an eye on the game from the warmth. If there are a couple of non football fans then this might work?
  18. I think LJ is a decent manager, but the patterns of what are quite significant slumps is a worry for him. We did have a slump under him, but I think that was a combination of his head being turned and the Ched Evans chaos - both distracted and I think we were punching above our weight and confidence and focus were our key reasons for success and they were lost with these factors. Barnsley / Bristol are slumps of giant size - he was lucky at Barnsley that he turned it around before the calls for him to go were heard. Bristol the calls are getting louder. This kind of form gets you sacked at a lot of clubs far earlier - and the bigger th club the shorter the length of time he will get. His career aspirations will be cut short if he cannot stop this trend.
  19. Another 3 points that we owe to this young man #topdraw
  20. A really good night and I'd say great value. Arrive early and park in the carpark, plus to get a programme and a team sheet. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and made you feel looked after throughout the evening. Food was very good - 3 course meal, plus hot drink/chocolates and then hot drinks and biscuits at halftime. Table service for he bar, including pre-ordering your HT drinks to be on your table when you get there. Padded seats - which did make things feel less cold (Mrs Scapegoat particularly impressed by this). A compare does a bit before the game - interviewed a couple of players (Edmundson and Holloway) and then welcomes every table personally. After the game, he interviews MOTM. Me and a mate both took out wives, and against all there pre-concerns (Valentines day at BP?!?) they really enjoyed it and clearly stated they would do it again. We were lucky and sat in front of Alan Hardy and Barry Owen (with Simon Corney just behind) - who instigated conversation and who were true gentlemen and good fun to talk football too for the evening. Alan and Barry both also asked if we'd enjoyed the evening and what we thought of the facility. Also work is about to start on the upstairs, which will be a 400 capacity conference centre. At the end, Jenny comes round and takes each tables photo with the MOTM which is emailed through as a memento. Really really good experience. If you can get 10 of you together I think you can do a box for a similar cost per person - though they were all full last night with companies.
  21. Very much doubt it. Simon was at the game tonight and sat in the North Stand and entertaining the Charlton board.
  22. Actually O'Halloran (so?) when we wone our first game after the summer of discontent.
