  1. We started the season in excellent form with Lomax at left back, it now looks as 'though he will be playing there again. I hope Jones is o.k., but am much happier with Kelvin in that position and Eardley back on the right. With regards to Taylor, I hope his loyalty to Oldham keeps him with us for one more season at least - that's assuming we don't go up.
  2. Easy lads! It's all about opinions. In my opinion, it was a good result and it sounds like either side could have won it. I'd definitely be hacked off if I was a Posh fan. Let's hope we can get the win against Orient next week. No reason why we shouldn't.
  3. Fuel and food is not cheap. Even if the eventual winners get Chelsea, it doesn't mean we would have, taking into account the Latics effect of drawing a crap team/bogey team etc. Anyway, would we have had the same ball number allocated to us as Cheltenham or Morecambe? Just asking (before I get bombarded with flak for not knowing).
  4. This is a great offer at this time of the year and definitely worth taking up. My fiancé is a City fan (cough) and as they are playing on the Sunday, getting to see the best team in the North West is one he'll certainly be interested in. Well done Latics, I can't see why circa 8000 attendance is not a possibility. Oooh, my 100th post!
  5. I don't think night matches should be discarded, but, they should schedule them so that the two teams are close in relative distance if possible. We really should have been playing Tranmere or Leeds tonight. It would make much more sense.
  6. It's a great result tonight. The two quick goals conceded is a worry (again) but I think we showed great character to go on to win it. Something that would have been inconceivable not so long ago.
  7. That's more like it. As I said, rubbish reporting from rubbish news rag!
  8. How reliable are the Sunday People? They can't even spell his name correctly! It would (hopefully) have to be a lot more than £700,000 and if the club let him go for that, then they are utterly stupid.
  9. If he goes, it's no way good news for the club. New manager, back to square one again with said new manager not liking certain players etc., etc. We get nowhere and the TTA throw out their toys again. I'm sure these issues will be discussed, hopefully in private this time. Now, if we can only persuade Redknapp to leave that two-bit club......
  10. As much as I like Hughes, I suspect the "big fish, small pond" factor is in effect and he wouldn't listen to a word if Sheridan berated him.
  11. Can't see Sheridan deliberately throwing the game. It's true, we do seem to struggle in the night matches, but, if they can beat Scunthorpe 3-0, then Cheltenham surely should have been a home banker, even with the missing squad members. They lost 3-0 at Hereford at the weekend. What could Hereford do that we couldn't? Sheridan has to look at his selection and his tactics and I'm sure that Corney will not let this go without having something to say about it. I totally agree that it's just a game, but, people pay their money (sometimes twice a week) and it isn't cheap. These people want a passion, a belief and a commitment from the team, and a bit of tactical nous from the Manager, in return for splashing out their hard earned cash, especially when that money could be spent elsewhere. They want the hope that we won't be spending another ten seasons in this league. This is supposedly the strongest squad we've had in a long time. It's been nullified by unnecessary tinkering. Why bring a striker in, one that had been tracked for a while and then loan him out? If he needs games under his belt, then get him on the pitch. Our pitch, not somebody else's. Obviously, the decision to scrap reserve matches is now biting us on the bum and was a big mistake. We now have too many players not getting enough match practice and that is not good. Best of luck to Liam Hatch, luckily, his neck is not broken.
  12. A large squad that Sheridan didn't know what to do with. Turning point? The unexpected acquisition and inclusion of Jones, followed by the stupid (and unexpected) loaning out of two key players, whether they were first choice, or not. Why did Sheridan bring O'Grady in, then farm him out, replacing him with the loan of an aging, unfit striker? Why discard Davies? surely not on the strength of one stupid act of petulance? Stupid, stupid mistake!!!! Playing Gregan in midfield!! It didn't work last time, why do it again? With no cup action, we've only got the league to concentrate on. I can see another rant from Corney and a new manager on the horizon.
  13. Thing is, they've got a dreadful away record and got beat 3-0 by Hereford at the weekend. All the bad Latics-style omens are there.
  14. I think the loaning out of O'Grady and Davies has led, partly, to this situation. Hughes' sending off hasn't helped, but why have Gregan in midfield? What's wrong with Lee or Stephens? Our "huge" squad is looking decidedly thin. Bewildering.
  15. A team that laughs together, plays together. Philosophy at its best!
  16. Hughes will play - not a straight red, so 7 days afterwards. If not, play Allot upfront - he may surprise you! Soz for the lack of sensibility - bit pi**ed. **hic**
  17. I agree with your sentiments, Derek, but I hope you're wrong. 15 goals is a good return (Davies' tally last season?) I think it will be more. Hopefully, he won't pull his bollox again as he should be getting stronger now he's had the op. Of the current crop, who is the man for the job?
  18. Great result - bring on the toon army! This Tom Eaves is looking a good prospect, it leaves only two options. He gets sold to Chelsea/Everton/City/pinched by United *spit* He makes the first team and gets ostracized for not scoring a hat full, saving a penalty and getting the pies in at half time. I rest my case.
  19. I love the Fluo kit, it's got a certain style to it that leaves the opposition rooted to the spot in admiration (while they throw up).
  20. Unfortunately for Sheridan, he hasn't got any option but to play Hughes at the moment (until this alleged new striker comes in). To be honest, Hughes has to be first choice simply because of what he offers with his all round game. He will start scoring and when he does, I think it will be hard to stop him from reaching the 20+ mark. O'Grady will be back but and I hope Davies will be as well, stronger and better than before, to give us a potentially lethal strike force. For now, 'though, it's Hughie and Lewi up front for me.
  21. He's certainly not sharing my **monthly** pain!!!! Letting TWO strikers out on loan?!?!?! Cup-tying one of them?!?!?! Bringing in an unfit/ageing striker on loan?!?!?! Unexpectedly dropping a perfectly adequate defender for an unknown quantity loanee?!?!?! Dropping a perfectly adequate defender who goes off to play for his country?!?!?! Tinkering with a winning strike partnership?!?!?! Boasting that we have a large/strong squad and being unable to fill a substitute bench and having to use a midfielder as a striker?!?!?! TINKER TINKER TINKER - we are not Arsenal - have a strategy and stick to it!
