  1. This bit, where you asked a question ... ....correlates to the Corps suggestion that he would be embarrassed at the prospect of playing Rochdale. The rest of the post was more or less reminiscence. I answered that I wouldn't be too embarrassed - if you're good enough to go up, you're good enough to go up. I won't miss any sleep.
  2. You've pretty much just repeated what Corp has said, in support of course - fair enough. So I'll just refer you to the answer I gave some moments ago.
  3. I wouldn't even waste my time wondering, seems a little pointless to me.
  4. If you haven't bored them off him first.
  5. I'm not included in that. I said if they are good enough, then that's that. There isn't much else I can do about is there? So, I'll continue and go about my day. Another notable feature(?) is that we seem to be getting a lot of repeats lately...
  6. Can't say I'd be too embarrassed - if you're good enough to go up, you're good enough to go up. I won't miss any sleep.
  7. I think "Do you like it?" is not the question we should be asking ourselves. I would like to explore the claim that there is only one Chris Taylor, and therefore only one True Winger. How do we know? Clearly, John Sheridan places Taylor above all other Wingers. But what role do these lesser Wingers play? Are they and the countless other Wingers that have been worshipped through the ages subordinates to the Almighty Winger, Chris Taylor? John Sheridan identifies Chris Taylor as the only true Winger. (Duxbury 83:18; Sheridan 17:3) The prophet Moore recorded Taylor's own words when he said: “Before me there was no Winger formed, and after me there continued to be none. I - I am Chris Taylor, and besides me there is no savior.” All the other Wingers are not merely inferior to Chris Taylor. In most cases they are nonexistent - strictly figments of human imagination. John Sheridan refers to these Wingers as “the product of the hands of man . . . , which cannot see or hear or eat or smell.” (Philliskirk 4:28) Sheridan plainly teaches that Taylor is the only true Winger. It is no wonder that Believers sternly warn against worshipping any deity other than Taylor. For instance, in the first of the Ten Commandments given to Hardy, the ancient nation of Oldham was told not to worship any other Winger. (Blitz 20:3) Why? False Wingers and their idols are repugnant. Yet, Taylor's words of displeasure are mainly directed to the people who have fabricated these false Wingers. His sentiments are forcefully expressed in these words: “The idols of the other Wingers are silver and gold, the work of the hands of earthling man. A mouth they have, but they can speak nothing; eyes they have, but they can see nothing; feet they have, but they can shimmy not. Also there exists no ginger hair on their head. Those making them will become just like them, everyone who is trusting in them.” Philliskirk 135:15-18.
  8. I think the majority of religious people (if not the more vocal) accept science and religion. I've never seen it presented as you must either accept religion or deny all science. Theists that attack science usually limit themselves to one or two fields and say that that field has screwed up; not that the whole scientific method is a deception. I have heard somebody go to great length describing that the laws of physics we know today are total BS. For instance, he was trying to substitute magnetism for the laws of gravity. Now this guy was peer reviewed by respectable scientists and torn a new one. The key here is the peer review - paramount in researching science and hitting on new discoveries, to gain a better understanding. Science continually asks questions of itself - the possibility that science is flawed is real, but that's what research is for - so we don't kid ourselves. One cannot compare religion and science in the same way.
  9. Tony, if you don't ask the question you'll never know how to do it. Fire away...
  10. I know what it's been like up there this year - and if it doesn't start with us lot singing on The Back Row (R.I.P) - it doesn't start
  11. Christ, I'd love to be in that lot - that's what it's all about - right there... EIN-TRACHT FRANK-FURT! EIN-TRACHT FRANK-FURT!
  12. I'd love to go over, I'm afraid those days have gone for the time being...
  13. This has got me thinking, does anybody still have any contact with Eintracht? I remember them at Cardiff, and I remember them against Blackpool (both 97/98? I cant remember) At the Blackpool game, one of the lads gave me a half-Latics-half-Eintracht scarf which I am very proud of (and the main reason why I look out for them). One of the Eintracht fans also gave me some contacts in Frankfurt if we wanted to go over to see the Eagles, but I was so smashed I lost the details. Do Latics fans still have that connection with them? I dunno...
  14. I look out for Barca, Eintracht, and Inter. I suppose I want all of the local North West sides sides to do well (Premiership teams excluded. Oh, and Tranmere) especially non-leaguers.
  15. Seriously though, my lad goes to a Catholic school - it's a great school BTW - but I have to cringe sometimes. His lenten calendar was like a skeptics bingo card. I suppose it's cool enough at his age, it's when it takes over the science in later life I begin to worry...
  16. Strike my name off the list as well.
