  1. He had some very shaky moments yesterday, but got better as the game went on. I just wish he could see a pass along the grass now and again, rather than lumping it through the air as he often does. That's why Davies and O'Grady struggled yesterday IMO.
  2. Seems to be missing the 3rd Millwall goal. Probably best left forgotten....
  3. The Mucky Duck was Gullivers with another name. It's now called Last Orders, and is populated by the scrotes that are too drunk to find the Regal Moon in the afternoon. On the other hand, if you wanted to buy some pegs or get your driveway done, you'll probably do OK if you go in the evening. So then, from the Summit: Yew Tree (OK, but shut until 5pm) Plough (Rough as spuds, but not too hostile) Bay Horse (Rough as toast- Full of fighting Red Sox) Lincoln Inn (Looks as rough as gravel) Lord Nelson (Looks as rough as sandpaper) Eagle (Quiet, probably rough) Cask and Feather (Not too bad actually) Last Orders (see above) Regal Moon (Handily placed for the dole office) See the general pattern?
  4. Definitely forget about Yates. Last time I looked it was shut too!
  5. Who told you that?! As well as the MM, there's a Distinguished Conduct Medal: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distinguished_Conduct_Medal Both earned in France in 1915.
  6. JJ was a forward?! There's something else they have in common which has been mentioned here often, and which many of us know is (sadly) still a factor, until the "afflicted" player is deemed to have done enough to earn his shirt. I've read (with it being before my time) that even Roger Palmer suffered the same at first. Maybe Ricketts is a dick, and a Big Time Charlie. Fact is, he showed plenty of skill for us on the pitch, and many fans don't seem to recognise that. But I would agree that Boundary Park is no place for those who care more about Bentleys than football. He'll learn, but maybe not in time to save his career elsewhere. Terrell Forbes on the other hand....
  7. I was the same first thing. As for Ricketts, I'm with jsslatic. I suppose the morons with the famous song were probably the same who got on Leon Clarke's back. Hmm... Anything in common? Let's not go there eh? I'm guessing they're still in denial.
  8. Both wrong... The European tour was in 1983 - 25th anniversary a few weeks ago: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7438256.stm Think again about how old you were in Junior 3 or 4! You'd have been in Junior 2.
  9. Didn't know you'd ever been to Loughborough! You will have seen it at Woodford though, c.1987. The raid on Port Stanley airfield was a complete success. The aim was to get one bomb on the runway, which was achieved. At the time, Black Buck 1 was the longest bombing mission in history. Apart from bombing the airfield, the mission showed that Britain was serious about recapturing the Falklands. It also put the fear of God into the conscripted Argentinian soldiers stationed on the islands, and forced the Argentine fighters back to defend the mainland against a similar attack (allowing Britain to maintain air superiority over the islands). It was much more than the 'political' attack it is often credited as. Martin Withers (who was the captain on Black Buck 1) was the co-pilot on Saturday. The Vulcan was obsolete in the nuclear bombing role just a few years after it's introduction (in 1957), although it was still on NATO duty until withdrawal from service in late 1982. The new display is much more sedate than when it was in RAF service, to prolong airframe and engine life. It is also much quieter than it used to be - with 13 tonnes of wiring removed and low fuel loads, lower engine power can be used. It still sounds great though! A couple more shots from Saturday (showing how much we need a new camera - much better pics are all over t'internet by now):
  10. As mikeb said above, totally untrue. If you wanted to see the best of British, you should have been in Lincolnshire yesterday: The restored Avro Vulcan, built in Chadderton, in formation with the only airworthy Avro Lancaster in Britain. This was the Vulcan's first public display in 15 years, following 9 years of restoration. A fantastic thing to see!
  11. I think you may be confusing Amy Winehouse with Tina Turner!
  12. Just saw Amy Winehouse on TV. Embarassing to say the least. Reminded me of Elvis towards the end. Hopefully she will pull herself together before it gets that far.
  13. But that smiley doesn't have a bright red nose! This one is better.
  14. I got two the other night - one from after you fell asleep on the train a couple of weeks ago, and one about the front of the Bison after the planning meeting. Your phone must like doing it's own thing.
  15. Now now.... Glad he's gone away for a bit. Nasty piece of work. But when he's out, I guess he should be left to get on with his life. Although I'm sure it won't be long before he hits the headlines again - he just can't help it. Whatever came of the Dabo case? I don't recall hearing the outcome.
  16. I thought Wellens had one of his off-days today. Good to see so many current players amongst some greats from the past. Wish Stammy would keep his shirt on though.
  17. We were getting ready to go to the pub to have some lunch and watch the Rochdale game. Despite the idiots who abused us on the way to the pub (probably not really Dale fans anyway) I really hope they can go up. Played some good football!
  18. Don't forget the Broadway side was taped off. The rest looked quite full, but not packed. Both paddocks were fairly quiet, and lots of space in the Chaddy too.
  19. Make sure to tell the wife to leave ANY glass bottles out of her handbag (even perfume), or the jobsworth 'security' at the turnstiles might try to confiscate them... If, on the other hand, you decide to smuggle litre of whisky in, you'll be OK as long as it isn't in a bag.
