  1. it will take penney 5 mins in pre season to see wolfenden is crap when he chests the ball for a throw in, he'll be thinking 'why have i wasted my time on this sponger?'
  2. wolfy is a joke - he just hasnt got it. He has the ball to feet and gets muscled off it, on the chest and its out for a throw, sorry but hes been 'coming good next year' since he was 17, hes now 22 ffs!! Alessandra shows more potential than him, just go wolfy. The rest are no suprise, maher was a top earner around 2k a week, dont rate him at all, for all his experience he cant pass it very well, no pace, backwards or sideways, cant tackle or shoot - Allott over him any day. out of the remaining squad id expect possibly whitaker and o'grady to be moved on, although may be kept on as squad players. we shall see so far - NICE ONE DAVE!!
  3. i think this guy has emailed a mate who knows how to work paintshop pro and got him to fix a couple of kits up - why would a 'source' email you the supposed new kits (no new home one, but anyway..) at 11pm on a monday night. i smell something beginning with bull..
  4. away kit looks smart, home kit horrible with the blue patches and gold plus we arent getting a new home kit til 10/11 so we can forget it now.
  5. think penney will be ruthless: out - kalala, maher, wolfenden, hughes, stam allowed to leave - whitaker, lomax, O'Grady, hazell (long shot but :censored:e since feb, past few dvds may prove tough viewing for dp) offered new deal - allott, gregan (1yr each). leaves (presuming above correct and people sign up): () = my choice of additions GK: Fleming, (Nash), Ollerenshaw. RB: Eardley (Austin) CB: Gregan, Hazell, (Nelson), (Foster), Dawson LB: Black (?) RW: Smalley, (Bergmeier) CM: Alott, Lee, Stephens, (Kennedy), Rowney LW: Taylor, (Purdie) ST: Alessandra, (Abbott), (Clarke), Brooke need: 1 GK, 1 RB, 1 LB, 2 CB, 1 CM, 1 RM, 1 LM, 2 ST = 10 SQUAD (-4 Youth players) = 21 Thoughts? N.B. There are an endless number of decent players looking for clubs in all divisions, its a buyers market. I have not got an extensive list of people available, im sure the above will be different to how it pans out, but just a few suggestions.
  6. have heard abbott, kennedy and ANother darlo player all to sign within the next week....
  7. small man up top - wolfenden who chests the ball and it goes out for a throw in, or Billy Clarke, scored goals for fun with feet and head, quick, confident and not injury prone... BYE Wolfy!!
  8. class! try and work it so we have joe leaving and big dave takes over for a sequel series ala life on mars/ashes to ashes
  9. via website rumour: Owen coyle wants to sign dele adebola on a free transfer from bristol city on a 1 year deal. west brom's leon barnett is interesting coyle and could be bought for just under 1 million , also doncaster midfielder james coppinger and oldhams neal eardley could be bought both for half a million. id take 500k, gives penney little more to manouver with.
  10. as has been said Joe wanted to stay but the budget was too low. I've heard via a friend of my brother who knows someone within latics (yes one of these again but true) asked for a bigger budget and refused. offered to forgoe his salary to add to it but even then it still would have been faling short of what Joe wanted initially. I'm sure it was all agreed amicably as that is the bloke Joe is. On reflection, even hearing this i still feel it better for the long term for him to go and for a younger guy to come in; wouldve hated for him to screw up and he wouldve only had 2-3 years on his side anyway as he is 60 and all the stress that goes with it. Fully understand the budget constraints as well - im sure they wouldve loved it to have worked better budget wise but there is a limit to how far TTA are willing to push things and i respect that. Thanks Joe, interesting times ahead................
  11. my guess: Fleming Austin Foster Gregan ? Taylor Kennedy Lee Purdie/Bermeizer Abbott B.Clarke subs from: GK, Eardley, Smalley, Stephens, Alessandra, Hazell, Ravenhill, westlake plus 3 others +youths. can see crossley, stam, whitaker, Lomax, o'grady, kalala, maher, allott being moved on, possibly hazell as well baring in mind his recent crap displays, think gregan to be kept for experience and no nonsense defending ability. All ifs and buts, but we shall see....
  12. yes i was all for gannon and indifferent about penney, but the more ive looked into him and read others' views on him as a football person and bloke and through a few interview clips he sounds a good catch to me. As i doubt most of darlos players will sign other wage deferrals i would expect to see kennedy and ravenhill here in july and as our midfield 2. i know kennedy is a big guy 6ft 1 and attacking, any other views on his game etc?
  13. has his favourites - now where have i seen that before...
  14. My dad says the same 'if we get robins im not buying a season ticket' why not? done a good job at rotherham... is it because he scored for norwich and utd against us and is from oldham? 'no, its cos he has no track record hes only been there a year, shez did well in his first 2 years and look what happened..' hmmm..
  15. Robins tipped for Oldham job Published: 29 Apr 2009 rigTeaserImage MARK ROBINS yesterday emerged as favourite to take charge at Oldham after Joe Royle revealed Saturday’s game at Walsall will be his last. Royle — who returned to Boundary Park after the sacking of John Sheridan six weeks ago — insisted: “I always said I would stay until the end of the season. “Oldham will always have a place in my heart, but it is a job for a younger man.” Royle, 60, has failed to come up with a win in his eight games back in the hotseat. Oldham’s owners are now looking for a dynamic, track-suited boss and are big admirers of the job Robins, 39, has done across the Pennines at League Two Rotherham. Alan Knill is also in the frame after taking Bury into the play-off places.
  16. Mate, ARE YOU MAD??!!!! what do people want in a manager? success?? new ideas?? good football?? tells it like it is?? young hungry players over has beens?? Gannon it is then!! christ almighty! he has been extremely loyal to county, owed money from their promotion amongst other things gone on, anyone in their right mind would have walked before now. Come on then who would you want?? why not Gannon??
  17. has to be Gannon. We need someone tough to come in and shake people up, someone who demands committment, effort and work rate for 90 mins. All this about him being gobby is a load of crap, he tells it like it is - just what you want as a fan, no excuses. He works on a limited budget, young hungry players not these windass has beens. kept them up, got them up, got stockport high up this year and if they had kept all their players they would have been well in the shout for promotion. He wants to stay in the north, we can give him although small, probably a bigger budget than county. we are stable as a club with potential for the future with the stadium. I dont believe for a moment that Joe had any intention to stay, bigger budget then yes maybe a chance but i dont think it was ever on the cards, tta have been planning therefore since mid march. I have heard we are well down the road with him and he has been wary of our interest for a while. JIMY GANNON'S BLUE AND WHITE ARMY!! hope it is him, failing that then hill from dale or robins, all work on a small budget and have had good success. Trust TTA!
  18. if not royle then gannon all the way for me. If not Gannon then i'd maybe plump for steve cotterill or ian holloway (it would at least be funny at the press interviews)
  19. have to say well done to both, but i am absolutely amazed Neal is in the team - attacking wise and in midfield i think he is decent, defending wise though - which is his primary job - he is poor. I'm never out to have a go at players, i just say it as i see it - i want people to play well including Neal - but defensively this season like Hazell(jan onwards) he has been very poor. I was set next to a Barnsley scout v bristol rovers, he said they'd stopped watching taylor as he has little end product and i quote 'I cant believe people rave about Neal Eardley and how he is an international is beyond me' Yes, come back next year Neal with a 100% committed attitude and effort and people including myself will back you. Improve your defending and aim crosses at players rather than just booting it in aimlessly without looking up as well and we will have a good player on our hands. over to you Neal...
  20. GK Fleming / ? RB ? CB ? CB ? LB? RM Taylor CM Lee CM Westlake LM ? ST ? ST ? position cover: GK: fleming/? DEF: eardley, gregan, black, MID: smalley, allott, stephens, ? ST: alessandra, ? youth: ollerenshaw, brooke, etc. squad of 20 what you would call decentish players with the starting 11 having the main key people playing with people like stephens as coer is ok. out: crossley, hazell (moved on), jones, maher, kalala, whitaker, wolfenden, liddell, hughes, o'grady
  21. Some people dont like it but Thatcher told it like it was, no B.S. Labour are just a bunch of liars and corrupt pr1cks. For someone with the experience and intellect of Brown Labour have screwed this country up good and proper. The very basics of common sensible knowledge 'spend a bit, save a bit', 'dont spend what you aint got' were thrown out of the window by Brown. Debt debt debt. - Lets now spend our way out of the troubles - debt debt debt. The borrowing of £100+bn is just made up, there is no actual money exchanging hands, just a number on a computer screen. We will never pay the debt off ever, some countries saved a bit when in growth and so are now better equipped to ride out the problems, we didnt. This is the society we live in today, most people in debt with the 'oh well who cares' attitude. Countless money wasted on :censored:e reform projects for education/health etc - instead of these MP's saying 'ooh what can we do next - i know...' they should get talking to the people doing the jobs ie teachers, doctors etc and asking what needs improving doing etc. The country is that screwed up when Big Dave gets in next year it will mean the Tories having to wait at least 5 years to be able to do anything that they want to do. I actually think Cameron is a decent bloke who wants to do some good for the country - but we all know what they say then do are completely different things. I will be voting tory next time, time for a change and lets see what they try and do.
  22. yes ok maybe not now, but imeantioned it a couple of seasons back when we had malongo up top! He obviously wants to stay in wales as he wouldve been bought by someone by now, certainly looks decent on youtube and his record is something like 140 goals in 160 games, phenominal.
  23. just telling it like it is. rose tinted brigade member i see.
