  2. yes his 2 daughters were mascots on saturday, they looked like they really enjoyed it helping their dad do his warm up!
  3. i have been and am an eardley basher, but he had his best game ever for us yesterday, one bad positional moment 1st half but after that really solid. Thats beacuse he kept it simple and thought about who to pass to instead of an aimless lump. Q: Can he keep it up?.....
  4. Kieran Lee he's our man, if he cant do it no one can (whit and maher dont cut the creative mustard) LEE AND ALLOTT CM PLEEEEASE SHEZ!!!
  5. kilkenny wages (half of them at least) = money for dickinsons wages - sounds plausable
  6. anything incoming will have been done before 5pm, as if kilkenny was coming for talks today as rumoured then i think it wouldve been done earlier than now, the club have (hopefully) done the deals and will reveal all at 5.05pm - every time we go on the OS the club earns money so theyll be keeping us waiting. but knowing shez's reputation for dithering, we'll have no one in and then have to wait a week for the loan window to open.
  7. for me 442 would be: Fleming Eardley(Lomax needs a break, ill admit that) Hazell Gregan Golbourne Smalley Allott Lee Taylor Hughes Windass if 352 then: Fleming Hazell Gregan Stam Smalley Allott Whitaker Taylor Lee Windass Hughes BUT PROBABLE TUESDAY LINEUP: Fleming Eardley Hazell Gregan Golbourne Smalley Allott KILKENNY Taylor Hughes Windass
  8. I hated him for a while after he went, but on reflection you cant blame him going to leeds and for the vast weekly wage offered to him, they are a big club and he could've been playing in the championship this year had they gone up. I think if Leeds hadn't come in for him he would've quite happily stayed with us. Hes been at Leeds now, not got a look in and it wouldn't hurt to join us on an 18month or so deal at present - hed get a decent wage still, we may go up through the playoffs and we have the strikers if given the service should bang a few in. We need a ball player through for Windass and Hughes, not Windass dropping deep leaving 1 up front. Yes he had his baf games in his 2nd loan spell, but maybe as he knows the club and knows most fans like him he may rediscover his talents on the pitch. Hope he signs, no worse than the ahhmm 'creative spark' from Whitaker and old legs Maher. I would've loved to see Lee and Allott together in the centre as i believe Lee is our mssing link, but like it or not shex obviously doesnt see it, so Kilkenny is the next best option.
  9. Lee IS a central midfielder thats the thing ive been saying for months! he is our creative link guy who can get back and tackle at the same time as he can play at full back if needed. ive said it before and ill say it again, an Allott/Lee midfield would work a treat. Maher fills in for Allott when Allott injured/suspended. Shez just doesn't see it though, nice guy with all the best intentions and will to succeed in the world, but deep down i honestly dont think he can do it.
  10. you play a fast young player in 3 games, he plays very well and has a blinder in his most recent game, only to then be sent out on loan til may to be replaced by a 35yr old pointer who managed to trick himself off the ball and give away a throw-in in his 5 min appearance on saturday?? If this happens it would make sheridan look like a complete idiot and confirm nagging doubts that he hasn't a clue what he is doing and requires cognative therapy
  11. i think he will as well. Lets face it - he's 32 - its lee hughes - other more established champ clubs will have better options in attack than a 400k 32/33yr old, he'd be good as back up but he would want to play every week, which defeats the object of him moving to and anyone else puttin a bid in except doncaster. Doncaster may well be relegated this year, so it is foolish him chancing it with them for anything other than money and with the system they play would he play every week? Other clubs would probably only be offering him this season and next year, whereas he can get an extra year on top of that with us and on a nice wage. The fans have taken to him from the off whereas i doubt he would get the same reception elsewhere. I dont think he'll sign it based on where we may be come the end of may, but if we go up i'd be very suprised if he then didnt sign on the dotted line.
  12. latest from donny: http://www.vikingsc.co.uk/donny.mpl?id=343438
  13. yes thats right, lets play a midfield with no legs barring taylor and allott(not the quickest but gets there and puts a tackle in) against a team full of young lads, thatll do it. smalley and lee in the midfield every game, or if not lee then stephens, cos whitaker does nothing in terms of tackling and cant be arsed to run at people. maher is ok in the allott role with a younger mdfielder ie lee/stephens alongside, same with allott.
  14. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...tic/7845011.stm Hughes stays at Oldham - Sheridan Oldham boss John Sheridan has insisted that Doncaster target Lee Hughes is not leaving Athletic. The 32-year-old striker is the Latics' top scorer with 14 goals. Sheridan told BBC Radio Manchester: "Lee's very happy at the club and I've made it clear I want him to stay so that's the end of it. "I've had a chat with Lee and he's made it clear he's happy and I'm happy for him to stay. I just want him to concentrate on scoring goals." He added: "Everyone knows Doncaster are interested and have made offers or what-have-you. Everyone knows there is a clause in his contract and I just want him to get back to playing well."
  15. fleming lomax hazell gregan golbourne smalley allott lee taylor hughes windass subs: stam, whitaker, davies, alessandra, stephens.
  16. just in...(reply from email) Mike If he wants to go and we say no, we have an unhappy player on our staff that may not be any use to us for the rest of the season and we lose out big style on two fronts. Believe me we do not want to do any favours for Donny. However, I fully expect Lee to be with us at the end of January. Alan HUGHESGATE TAKES ANOTHER TURN...
  17. http://www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk/free-p...-tie.4900225.jp It's a dream tie 22 January 2009 By Peter Catt ROVERS were preparing for their biggest FA Cup tie for 24 years today - but are no closer to signing goal ace Lee Hughes. Tuesday night's comfortable 3-0 third round replay victory over Cheltenham earned Rovers a dream fourth round tie at home to Aston Villa and the extra revenue generated also paved the way to sign £400,000 rated Oldham star Hughes. It is believed that Doncaster chairman John Ryan had finalised a deal with his Oldham counterpart but the transfer could collapse over lack of agreement over the striker's personal terms. Manager Sean O'Driscoll said after the Cheltenham win that talks regarding the move for 32-year-old Hughes were "ongoing" but chairman Ryan seemed less optimistic following a Board meeting at which the deal was discussed yesterday. But there was better news about Doncaster's other main transfer target Bristol City striker Steve Brooker who is currently on the sidelines injured after scoring on his loan debut for the Keepmoat club. Rovers are expected to tie up a £100,000 plus deal for the 27-year-old early next week providing there are no fitness issues remaining. O'Driscoll said: "We are much closer to a deal for Steve and I am keen to sign him." Maybe they cant match or arent willing to pay him our 'rumoured' £4.5k a week, or he is wanting a big signing on fee?? who knows........ gives us a small chink of hope anyway.
  18. This just tops it off for me. Your best striker has a 400k clause in his contract, fair enough if an offer matching it is received and the player goes then there is nothing you can do about it. But literally flogging your best striker for LESS than what he should go for in his contract is just ridiculous!!!! Wayne Rooney has a 20mil buy out clause - AC Milan offer 5mill 'yes we'll sell'!! WTF????!!!!! What the hell can we do with 200k anyway? fcuk all thats what!!! its 400k or we dont sell. Selling your top scorer for less than what you can get for him is absolute madness!!!
  19. you bunch of absolute idiots!! - 'should be ashamed of yourself' 'mate of a mate story' - yes thats because it is one that happens to be CORRECT!! I tire of false rumour posts and wouldnt post one or make something up myself for the sake of it you bunch of pr1cks. - I cant name other players because he only mentioned 'hughes, other players and staff' as the guy lives near hughes and has seen him around where he lives, the 'mates mate' isnt a follower of oldham so doesnt know any of the other players names/what they look like. - the hotel was in Chewksbury ACTUALLY, the 'mates mate' was there attending an overnight conference. -the fact that other people were talking about it at the actual game also says that what im saying is more than likely correct and not a made up rumour, simply passing on what i was told. All you 'big lads' on these boards type and discuss things like you all own the place and if none of you type a 'rumour' then if someone else types one its automatically false and the typer should be ashamed of themselves for typing what they heard and not made up on the back of a cereal box?! who do you think you are? YOU lot should be ashamed of yourselves
  20. my mate's mate was at the team hotel last night staying over for some conference thing, he rang my mate and said hughes and players were in the bar drinking, this was around 11.30-midnightish - whether it was beer or alcohol is unknown, but i would imagine with our supposed 'culture' in the dressing room it would be the latter.
  21. ALL THE PLAYERS IN THE HOTEL BAR LAST NIGHT ON THE LASH Absolutely pathetic and disgraceful - and they get PAID for this crap!! - cant wait til performance related pay comes in. school teams lose 5-0 not PROFESSIONAL teams. yes it has been coming for weeks, we stand off players time again not wanting to work. over to you shez.........
  22. i agree, hopefully you are right. If he wants a bit more money then maybe we could offer it him if we went up. I hope he stays til june then either way if he stays or goes thanks for your efforts.
  23. im thinking more john thompson! but technically he was a forest player so yes i'm wrong there as he was only on loan at tranmere, but you get the gist im sure
  24. Anthony Kay - he's rejected their new offer of a deal and according to their radio station their agent says oldham are 'interested' The fans feel disgusted that they may lose him now or june (if true) to as small a club as us. if true im not sure, we know what happened with our last signing from tranmere..........
  25. http://thecowsheds.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=3...=a&start=22 midfield linchipin or defensive cover....? (or just a load of tosh!)
