  1. Totally over the top re: Penney, but I guess you and all the other low life moaning scum on here love to post such messages. 'PENNEY OUT' = fecking clueless the lot of you - and you have the cheek to call yourselves 'fans'............ Were you the one who shouted to Gregan 'F*** off Gregan you fat c*** - just a hunch going off this post that it might have been you....?
  2. Dear Dave, I write this letter in the wake of our poor result at Boundary Park Vs Hartlepool United. I have been a supporter of the team for the past 15 years and in my time I have seen some poor teams and poor management structures/performances. However, despite the defeat, performance and indifferent start to the campaign; let me say that I have not witnessed a more likeable, professional and committed manager as yourself. I admire your football philosophy, your preference for young players and to build a team of ‘workers’ with an added touch of quality to go with it. I appreciate that you do not have the funds to go out and buy the best players or offer extortionate wages to get the out of contract players at a club such as ours and within the current economic climate. You do however, seem to be always on the lookout for unspotted young talent or players that may be available for loan, unlike our previous regime who were more inclined to contact their ex-team mates for players or bring in players who were known names and ‘past it’. You appear to acknowledge that fans will always applaud and back players who work their socks off for their money as the paying supporter does in their everyday job, regardless of ability. I felt it necessary to write to you with a piece of support and advice. Please DO NOT listen to the moronic band of ‘fans’ at the club who constantly moan, boo and shout pathetic and uneducated abuse at the players and yourself during games. Whilst I respect their right to an ‘opinion’ (for what it’s worth), their actions are totally unjustified. I almost came to blows with two ‘supporters’ at last nights’ game as I felt sorry for you having to hear such rubbish as I can see what you are trying to do, whilst also considering the season is barely under way and that it is totally unfair to judge you on games whereby a quarter of our key players are unavailable. When these players return I am sure we will see a turn around in performances and results. I know you have brought in good players and whilst it may be a building job this year, I know you will get it right eventually and lead us to success. You are at a new club, have assembled a good young squad and yes, ok, results and performances haven’t been brilliant, but your approach, knowledge and professionalism to date has been admirable. What I will say though, in a purely constructive manner, is that whilst we are waiting for players to return from injury, I think it beneficial for you to pick a team and stick with it. The changing around of players in the centre of midfield and in attack cannot do much good in terms of the young players gaining confidence and partnerships forming. I personally think that Brill, Hazell and Whitaker are our weak links but that is your job and for you to decide upon, which I fully respect. As an aside, I think you should consider allowing Martin Gray, or yourself, to sit in the directors’ box for the first 45 minutes to make notes from a different view of the games than yourself being stood on the touchline – I sit in the upper main stand section and you do get a clear perspective on the game and are able to see who is out of position/not picking runners up etc. Keep your head up, stay positive and believe in what you are doing is correct. I believe we have the management team, young players and a structure in place that will only lead to success for the club in the long term. I can see what you are trying to do and I and many other fans are fully behind you. It is sad that the idiotic band of people who come to games to simply moan get their voices heard more so than those there to support the team and that the abusive/negative messages are passed off as the general fan consensus towards yourself and the team. It is the many previous false dawns, demise post-Premiership and promises of past teams and managers at the club that has led to people becoming disillusioned with the team and wanting instant success, which of course is impossible with an entirely new squad. Keep doing what you are doing Dave. I feel that we are very lucky to have such a talented manager at the helm and I know, given time (I hope to God that you are) you can do it and bring the good times back to Oldham Athletic. Stay Positive and Keep The Faith.
  3. Here Here, finally someone who agrees with the sensible knowlegable people on this board
  4. F****** shut up the lot of you!!!! you are NOT fans of OAFC!! yes we all have opinions but to want DP out after 6 YES 6 games is an insulting suggestion!! Tonight was excellent 1st half, poor 2nd half and yet again we give teams goals without them doing anything through our poor defending. He KNOWS we need a CB but anyone ever thought that the people he wants arent available at present? No because you are all morons wanting instant success in 8 weeks of a job! Clueless Shez had 3 YEARS!! DP knows his football and knows what he is doing. He has no or little money to spend he has already brought in some good young players, add to that purdie and abbott and we have a very good squad. We have 6-8 key players out injured!! When we have a full squad to pick from we will have a very good team and i think a lot of you will be suprised where we finish. OK we may not get playoffs this year but id certainly back us as top 6 material next year once he has finished getting rid of the dross left by Shez (hazell, lomax, casper, o'grady) DP is the best this club has had since JR and the glory years, give the man time FFS and we may just do something, god some of you guys do my nut in!! TEAM WHEN EVERYONE FIT: Brill :censored: Gregan NEW CB Sheehan Colbeck Furman Worthington Taylor Abbott Blackman subs: GK, Holdsworth, Hazell, Whitaker, Smalley, Purdie, Lee, Jacobson, Parker, Brooke, youth lads etc. (add stephens and Alessandra to that list if they return from loan spells)
  5. Because he is, in case you havent noticed, in the process of weeding out the dross that is in our squad (in his opinion) O'Grady Alessandra (ok maybe be a gebuine need for games and DP may well rate him) Lee (told he can go) Gilbert/kaz/byfield all not good enough long term. we do need another wide player, smalley could be 3months out, purdie can play anywhere (literally, darlo fans say he is good wherever he plays) we only have taylor as a real winger, parker is better up top and lee is more of a CM than winger so i can fully see why hes brought Colbeck in. It all seems messy at the moment with players in and out but he did say it will be toing and froing for a while. Give him time, i can see what he is doing/why he is doing things, maybe some cant
  6. JUST CHILL!! DP will know we need another CB, but for the next week we will probably be ok, i'm sure he has had targets but has probably had to wait before other teams decide which players can leave. :censored: and Holdsowrth can play there if needed so it's not THAT immidiate that we need someone in, although yes i agree we do need a 3rd CB in. in DP we trust! He KNOWS what he is doing!
  7. I would accept that, 1 mill with a sell on that would be fair.
  8. EXACTLY! Players have one good season and are snapped up, but at a fair/mad price depending on how you see it. Cox from swindon = 1.5-3m Delph - 8m!! Jackson gillingham - valued 1.5m Maynard - 2.25m It seems (trotman aside which was a good deal for only 20 games) clubs come in offering measily amounts and we say 'oooh yes go on then' the examples above, maybe delph aside as it is 'leeds' show clubs say 'cox - 2m' and they wont even entertain for 1 second anything less than that from other clubs. 'Taylor - 1m minimum' is what we should say and nothing else, the way we sell players for peanuts makes me cringe. on another note, oh wouldnt the Micah money come in handy now...!
  9. er...yes he did. Yes it was rumoured he was going for over a year but in terms of the time leading up to his departure he tipped people off with inside information 2 weeks prior to his departure. People on this site are so awkward, no need to be pedantic.
  10. well if you'd bother to read further down the thread you would see it is the same guy that tipped people off about eardley going...
  11. Taylor is off OUR CLUB IS SLOWLY CRUMBLING - EVEN MORE FANS WILL BE DRIVEN AWAY IF IT HAPPENS http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A56248789 Bye Bye Taylor League One Oldham Athletic by akaTrueBlue (U13654519) 25 August 2009 comment on the article Will sign for Leeds possibly before the weekend as well. Doesn't look the same player these days carrying an injury that all can see, he was the brightest spark but now every team in the league knows what he is going to do and knows how to play against him. I just hope we dont get ripped off like we did on the Eardley deal. Fair well Chris
  12. very impressed, has the identical traits of beckford (J not D) lanky, well built, pace and gets in peoples faces, season long loan for me. Ill say it again, i think when taylor gets fitv(and if he stays) and purdie and/or smalley returns and gets fit we will be a much better team in terms of getting goals. Purdie/smalley on the right gives us 2 quick wing options and would mean parker/abbott/et al would have more chance of being in the box than needing to come wide. Lets hope so anyway KTF
  13. AH: SO Alex, what do you think of our team then? AF: Well, most of it is decent, but the defending by Hazell for their goal made me chuckle
  14. Please accept my sincere apologies. Didnt mean to cause offence, Shefflatic
  15. i agree yes, i dont see why, if it isnt possible to upload a video interview immidiately after a game that a short transcript cant go up. I appreciate that the web guy is probably still getting used to the systems etc and how things work, i hope he realises that my comments about the service are meant to be constructive and to allow the club to offer a better/more efficient service, not a personal attack.
  16. EDIT From main site: However due to a file corruption an interview with Dave Penney will be unavailable until early next week, Latics Player sincerely apologises for these difficulties, which were beyond anyone's control. hopefully in the future there will be interviews after games if at all possible and not the next day, we'll see but if stu can do it the new guy surely can
  17. it is a big a joke as reuben hazell and defending. They record the interview at like 5.30pm then it takes 5 mins to upload it or some comments at the very least to the website, as stu vose did last year, he had the post match stuff up on the day of the game weekend or midweek whatever the game. This new guy will probably be in the pub with his mates off this board and then upload it tomorrow, what a joke.
  18. yep totally agree OK gregan doesnt have pace, but that is his only donwfall, he gets everything else in his game spot on and if he makes an error every 10 games or so he makes dam sure he learns from it Always said Hazell was the weak link, oh what id give for a trotman greegs partnership..........
  19. DP said pre game that one or 2 had knocks, must be the only reason to leave him out. As for Taylor the guys head looks screwed up, hes either injured and playing when not fit or he has been told he has to leave cos we need the money and hes not happy, the guy looks lost.
  20. people are on holidays and yes we havent started all guns blazing, we'll have to be in the top 6 and playing well to get a decent 6+ crowd which is sad. The fans and people of oldham have just become tired of the same league and hope that then turns to crap seasons since we got relegated from div 1 in 1997, the willingness and care for the team has just wilted.
  21. would agree with your assessment of who played well, Abbott is superb, without him we'd be screwed. Hazell is sh1te - granted his first 6 months with us was decent but when he signed i said it and since his new contract hes been woeful - diving into tackles, poor positioning, standing off people and his clanger every 2 games. I'm absolutely sick at the mistake today - ok he slips, but he gets up and still has it, doesnt look up and passes it to theie guy!!!!! If it were me i'd belt the bugger out for a corner or throw. These players dont have a brain. we make simple :censored:e errors that no other team does - no team plays through us we give them goals. we pass to players in tight situations and then wonder why we lose it. The only ones witha good brain are abbott, holdsowrth and gregan. Thought Gregan did his usual best again today, him and Pav joint MOM its Hazell who needs sacking. We looked off the pace all game though, even at 1-0 i never felt ok or that we deserved the lead because our passing and closing down was woeful. Brill and hazell out DP!! He WILL get it right, hes seen the light with COG and LA, give him time, after all it IS only 4 games.
  22. could do no harm to have a look http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11096_5503404,00.html
  23. footballrumours.com Leeds united yesterday agreed a fee with oldham athletic for winger chris taylor said to be around 450k. taylor and his agent are travelling over to thorpe arch this morning for talks, leeds hope to have a deal in place before the colchester game. from a source close to colchester manager dave penny!
