  1. yeah - i was a nipper then but remember it vaguely !. Fryatt was simply awesome in the air and his strenght was amazing as he bulldozed through defences to power the goals in or knoek down for david Shaw to finish off ! Just heard an amazing story about Fryatt before matches when they used to kick off at 3.15 so all the fans could have last orders in the pubs which used to have to shut at 3pm. The tale is so funny and bizarre that it has to be true - I'll leave it to the guy who told me to post it, but if not i'll put it on next week with his permission as it might compromise some people !!
  2. you can discuss anything you want my friend - yes, this guy is a mate of mine (he certainly aint my dad btw !!) but I witnessed all of the events and it left me feeling very uneasy as it all could have been avoided. I saw my mate tap him on the shoulder to get his attention and, yes, he did shout. I'm not saying that it was right but I didnt ever see any physical assaults or your sons ear grabbed. From everyone else who I have spoken to, they didnt either. My point is that it al should never have escalated and it has cost the club a lot of cash and a lot of goodwill. Also, its not about 'hearing sides' but as I sit nearby I witnessed it all, unlike you who got told second hand. Its not about sides, its trying to make the best of a bad job.
  3. fair enough DB - you make some valid points BUT if you never intended taking it further as it was 'over the top', - why go to the old bill in the first place ??- that only made things ten times worse !!. Hey, its not 1 fan who this has lost but 4 who also feel the club did sweet fa to help dispite regular consultation with stewards and Alan Hardy (chocolate fireguard btw !). We all need to start the new season on a positive note and some of your comments are encouraging but you have to realise that not everyone wants a drum being beaten next to them, especially when they chose seats unaware that it would happen. I'm not sure you handled it rightly - perhaps you got poor advice. Anyway, its over now hopefully and everyone can move on. No winners here at all ! with a bit of common sense it could have all been avoided.
  4. just a couple of points that I would like to clarify : 1) Mr LDB senior told his lad when he was summonsed over by LDB early on in season to carry on banging it, and bang it as loud as you can. Fact. 2) the only times my mate can remember anything strange happening is that walking up sheepfoot lane after a match to get a ticket for an away game, he saw LDB and his mum. my mate made what he says was a light / amusing comment about the drum in a way that should have brought a smile or 2 - but he says that LDB's mum (presuming it was LDB's mum, apologies if not) gave him a filthy look and said she was getting him a bigger drum so he could make even more noise. Not a bridge-building statement IMHO. Anyway, it was weeks after that when mr plod called on my mate with allegations of assault. My mate cannot for the life of him recall where any possible allegations could have come from but thinks its pure malice because of the early comments made to LDB. I do remember at a game where LDB moved right over from where he was sitting and planted himself right in front of my mate. My mate tapped him on his shoulder and politely asked him to move - LDB ignored him and banged his drum as hard as he could - sheer, unadulterated wind-up provocation. All my mate did was to chant very loudly 'sheridans blue and white army' behind LDB but he did nothing else. If tapping someone on the shoulder is assault then I need to be arrested 50 times a day and there would be no one left in the Chaddy. Either get an agreed place for the drummer so everyone knows in advance and can act accordingly or ban it. it needs sorting before the season starts as feelings are already running high and no one wants any escalation of this situation.
  5. fair play mate - I sit very close to where all the issues have originated and am a good friend of the guy you got summonsed to the police station. This guy has paid loads of money over the years to sit in his same seats and watch the game and quite rightly he dosnt want a loud drum banging in his ear - ok, so he had words with your lad and you yourself came over and had a few words yourself. The situation barely improved as your son would deliberately move over to the guy towards the end of some games and bang the drum provocatively. If fact, if I remember correctly, you actually TOLD him to bang it as loud as he could !!. Anyway, whatever, I was there at all the games and although words were exchanged, I never witnessed any grabbing / assault etc. What was the point of going to the old bill (via the club, Alan Hardy hang your head in shame!) - months later??. A bit pathetic in my opinion. Let him sit next to you and bang it to his hearts content and allow others to watch the game in peace. According to Alan Hardy, your lad has a seat but never sits in it. Sort it out please.
  6. yeah - spot on - he was second to none in the air and looked the part - mean n hungry ! co-incided with my first visits to BP remember the chant from the Chaddy 'Big Jim , bang one in !!' oh happy days !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. sorry Beardy - dont mean any offence but it annoys me that a loyal fan has been dragged through the legal system and his good name threatened by a false allegation. Dave NEVER touched the drummer - he certainly gave him a piece of his mind but the drummer was deliberately provoking an issue. The allegation of assault (claimed pulled his hair) came months after it had supposedly happened - if it was assault why not arrest him there and then ?. A sad tale with no winners. Phil.
  8. Yeah - I know the guy well who ended up at Chaddy police station because of the drummer boys false allegations. The guy has been a Latics season ticket holder for more years than most on here - he didnt like it that a young lad could sit next to him or in front (not in his own seat) and bang out of a drum. OK, it adds to the atmosphere, but my mate bought 4 season tickets so that he could watch Latics - not have some kid banging a drum in his ear. He simply told the lad to move elsewhere - ok, maybe swore at him - mistake but not a hanging offence at a footie match. Next thing, several months later - visit from dibble and charge of assault. sake - guy gets his legals involved at great cost and many witness statements - me included. Guess what, little drummer drops charges. Alan Hardy refuses to ban drum or allocate him a seat. Guess what - mate no longer renewed - 2 adult STs, 1 Intermediate and a junior. Who loses out ? the club. Oh, btw Lordy, I dont know you, but if you cared to articulate your threat to the guy (Dave) or his son, I think you would end up in A & E !. Dont get involved unless you know the whole story.
  9. the last time we got out of this poxy division in the 70's the chaddy used to bounce to 'we will be, we will be champions of division 3 na na nana na nana na na' mmmnn - league one dont exactly rhyme now .... maybe : 'without Ron, without Ron, champions of league One na na nana na nana na na ' I'll get mi coat .............
  10. got a link to the original 'foreskin fusiliers' think the Chaddy fusiliers is better though ... foreskin fusiliers
  11. if the Fusiliers one is the same that the Chaddy sang in the 70's then if I remember correctly it went something like this (I remember boozing before the matches in the Footballers Arms on Huddersfield rd - about 30 or so used to meet there in the small pool room and get totally leathered on OB bitter then pile on a bus about quarter to 3 to get there just after ko - 1 lad from Sholver had recently joined the army (his name slips my memory for the minute - slim lad with straight blondhair Nicky??), and he introduced the song from the army on the 404 bus and it was then sung in the Chaddy for a few years : Eyes right, arses tight, rubbish to the front We're the boys who make no noise and we're only after c**t we're the hero's of the night and we'd rather f**k than fight we're the hero's of the Chaddy End Fusiliers Fusiliers, fusiliers we are the fusiliers !! or words to that effect !!! nostalgia !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Chaddy End - just by the 'muppet choir' - get to stand every game despite the frequent calls from the old moaning gits behind ' sit down you knobheads' every five minutes - then they occasionally get up close and personal to the teenagers that they feel they can intimidate - sad old gits !! (IMHO!!!!). Chaddy is the spiritual home of the old faithful from the 70's and 80's when it really rocked - standindg/ bouncing on the old wooden boards at the back ! Its obviously not the same anymore but still has old memories ! Will hope to transfer to Lookers lower for Trannies game and join the infamous 'Paddock Army' for 1 match to verbally abuse the tranny chavs that come over then back to the sanctuary of the Chaddy for the rest of the season !! :2gun:
  13. funny old thread this one but i'll play along and over time just might get into the swing of things ..... mmmm ... now what can I post ?????????? :2gun:
