  1. if he stays the fans will vote with their feet. Enough is enough - the patience of loyal true-blues has been tested once too often and too many have lost the faith. Penny has finished what Ronnie Moore started - not understanding the identity of club and fans and bleeding the club of its soul. If he dont or wont go I fear for the future of OAFC. I wont be going again for the forseeable future as quite frankly have had enough after 40 loyal years. If Penny dosnt kill off the club then Failsworth will. I can only imagine the size of crowds down there. As Colonel Kurtz says in Apocylpse Now 'the horror .. the horror ..'
  2. ok, havnt posted for a while as have been too hacked off to bother but here goes .. have followed latics thru thick and thin over past 40 years - from the dark days of division 4 with its re-elections thru the glory years and back to the third tier - started to work out how much ive spent - ST.s, coach fares, petrol, beers, pies and b&bs and the rest - probably a kings ransom but overall I have enjoyed every minute. Even in the darker times we always had triers who grafted for the shirt and good loyal players who despite lacking the finer skills more than made up for it wirth effort and passion - Ian Wood, Maurice Whittle, Stainrod, Tony Carrs, David Eyres and even Craig Dudley who always ran his heart out for the 'Tics. Then the stars - Alan Groves, Stitch, Ricky Holden and to some extent Vic Hallom, Roger Palmer etc. From cup games in the snow at Chesterfield , Formby, Barrow, Newport County and Kings Lynn. Cardiff away on a friday night (not for the faint hearted!) to Wemberlee, Anfield, Highbury, the victories at Main Rd against citeh, Maurices goal at York away with half of Oldham packed into the ground, Beatin red sox at BP (maurice again !), Scunny away with Gary Mac scoring in the 95th min or Eyres away at Stockport same, Everton in FA cup both recent and further away, Ipswich away (Marshallllll !!) to Scotty Vernons poke into the Citeh net ..... oh happy days and well worth the journey. Until now. Was a little concerned when DP took over as was worried about style of football we would be served up but got ST nevertheless. It always worries me when a new manager gets in and brings his old muckers in - 3 or 4 ok but to decimate a side and replace with non-entity mercanaries is courting disaster. Ronnie Moore tried it and we got Swailes, Rob Scott and Lincoln boy. Lessons learned eh ? Loan players - playing for wages and dont give two about the club that employs them. To me that has been a significant factor in our demise over the years - they dont offer stability, continuity, progression or passion. To see a new Latics team full of below average journeymen on contracts and a sprinkling of couldntgivea:censored: loanees depressed me but, hey-ho , lets see what happens ... Turgid, negative, passionless crap. What else could we expect. Although have ST couldnt be arsed with Leeds game - unthinkable to me previously but seemed a natural choice actually. Got offer of day out in manc for Colchester game and had great time and didnt even try to get update on score. Why ?? - bored senseless with shyte on the pitch. When the fixtures came out had Norwich away as banker - used to go to college there and know all the pubs intimately. Even booked b&b at start of season. When friday came just couldnt be arsed spending a few hundred quid to have it ruined by a gutless performance. A wise choice as it turned out. So what now - I have ST but wont be going again for a while as feel totally let down by gutless, passionless mercanaries. Believe me - I dont expect us to win every week but I do like to see us attack and compete. I'm not saying the players dont try - its just that they dont really care - and that does make a difference. So, with the horrific prospect of selling my soul to Failsworth on the horizon (never in a month of sundays would I ever support a sellout to that suburb of manchester, a million miles for the true grit philosophy of Oldham that has sustained my support these past 40 years), I reckon its time to say enoughs enough and youve had enough of my cash already and , as the Dragons say 'I'm out !'. The club is dying on its arse and I cant bear to watch people who dont give two :censored:s sell us down the river. RIP Latics, it was great knowing you !
  3. way too young to be leaving us. RIP and god bless. A big loss of one of the good guys. Thoughts with family and friends.
  4. whatever we think about the Bindippers both Ricketts and Savage had good games against us at BP last year - Ricketts looked awesome and ran the show for walsall when we nicked it 3-2 and Savage had a good game too in BFJ's return - on their day they are both a handful - we all know they can be lazy and ineffective but dont wanna gloat too much in case it comes back to haunt us ! hope to be proved wrong tho !
  5. Having grown up and worked with many redsox 'fans' - the majority who never or rarely actually attend games but are nevertheless the most bigoted and opinionated of 'fans' you are ever likely to meet and forever gloat and spout crap, it is refreshing to see these skychair fans eat humble pie. No doubt they already have some half cocked excuses ready eg no Vidic or Ferdinand etc. The reality is they have been a 1 man team over the past 2 years - withoout pretty-boy Ronaldo they are ordinary and beatable. It gives me great pleasure to see these smug tosspots beat when they all assume they have a devine right to win everytime. Just returned from holiday in Croatia and guess what, thee brits in the hotel were Redsox - 1 from Carlisle, 1 from Lincoln and the other from Stoke. You can guess how often they attended matches ! - never the less tales of how they were robbed by Barca and would walk the premershyte this year were common. It therefore gives me great pleasure to cackle when the mighty scum get what they deserve ! It might be a bit immature and I'm latics thru and thru, but it does give me pleasure when the redscum get beat and to see taggarts twisted face ! When anyone asks who my second team is its always the same - ABU : Anyone But united !!!
  6. all sorted now - can any mod/admin pls lock post ? cheers !
  7. nah - got that t-shirt a few years ago ! change of job n need to work saturdays - for a while at least. will deffo miss a few games so best to cash in and pay as you play !
  8. Due to changes in personal circumstances , very very reluctantly wont be able to get to majority of sat games next season - have got ST in RRE - row T , half way up, near to moat. If anyone fancies taking ST (adult) off me for a tenner a game ie £230 cash then please PM me. Will try to get to as many games as poss but will pay on the day . Obviously if anyone interested they can sit in any unallocated seat in RRE rather than the 1 ST relates to. cash only - will hand over in person - any questions pls PM, thanx.
  9. striker has agreed and loose ends being tied up - cant be made official yet but shirt sponsorship etc already agreed - its a good signing and all but done - little bit of patience and all will be happy ! Name wont be a surprise but cant be confirmed yet. Goals goals goals !!!!!!
  10. just to back up a lot of posts on here - my mate at work is a Bratfurt ST holder and he says that DF is the dogs bo**ox and if we get him we wont be sorry - hes a star in the making ! come on DP - lets get him and Abbot in the bag asap ! Onwards and upwards !
  11. ok - gone and done the dirty deed and got ST today against my better judgement (even gave up spiritual home of Chaddy for midst of RRE ) ! . Totally down to 1 or 2 posts on here that gave me hope and thoughts of new dawn after the Shez loanees/old boys club fiasco. Mainly the author of this thread mr Harry Dowds Shirt - hope I dont regret it ! Onwards and upwards !!!
  12. my problem is that i want to renew - my heart says 'yes' but head says 'no' - just cant face prospect of same old dross in stadium without atmosphere again thats why i need to know whose playing. Last years team of old pals and loan mercanaries who didnt give a toss or were woefully unfit or over the hill has pi**ed me off big time so I want to know whose going to be playing so I can get up for it. It isnt about discount prices - iIwould pay top line if had to but feel its testing our loyalty to extreme to fork out for ST when guts of team quite rightly fired off but as yet not replaced. Think it would be morally right to extend discount period given that the backbone of the squad next season isnt yet in place ! will see how I feel in morning but at mo cant see me getting to BP with cheque book in hand for above reasons.
  13. for me it aint about the recession / credit crunch altho I acknowledge for many this may be the case. I just am sick of paying good money to watch overinflated egos posture and pontificate on the pitch when all I want is good old fashioned entertainment. I dont expect Latics to win every game but I want them to put a decent shift in and entertain me and give me hope of going up ! In the second half of last season we went through halfs without troubling the oppo keeper at home - that aint right ! I want evidence we will have triers and serious players in before buy ST again - giving the Wolf a shirt dosnt inspire me tbh ! If no decent signings soon them I wont commit - think the club should also extend discount period until a few more signings have been made to allow people to see what they are getting for their loyalty. Personally I cant buy ST if dont know half the team - not prepared to fork out for a toothless team lacking imagination or entertainment. signings please or longer discount period or else i'm out ! Btw - four years ago used to go with 9 others, 5 dropped out 2 yrs ago, 3 last year. None of these have been back - now skychair fans. When people dont renew they dont attend as cash punters in general. An ST makes us turn up thru thick and thin - so come on DP / Latics, give me an incentive or good reason to renew !
  14. after how last season rapidly disintegrated and the couldnt-give-a-:censored: attitude our several 'senior' pros at the club its a wonder we have shifted so many ST's !. Altho I have had an ST for 40 yrs with only a couple of exceptions (financial reasons !) for the 1st time I really cant or dont want to renew at the moment as unless I see a few decent players who could give us a sporting chance at play[offs or better I dont think I could face another season of half-hearted performances against all those long-distance opponents which will mean poor away support and little atmosphere for most games. Need to see some decent signings (some of these big powerful teams DP is famous for would be a good start )but need some actual names on shirts before I commit. I personally know a lot of previously die-hards who have lost the faith particularly after the shambles of last years billy-big bollocks non-triers and wont be renewing again. If no decent signings soon then no ST for me and will probably pick and choose. The damage Sheridan did last year with his aging pals who didnt give a :censored: cant be underestimated. DP neds to get a good few players in pronto to get the fans onside again - once people stop going they find other things to do on saturday afternoons and rarely go back. Abbot signing up would good for starters ................
  15. am strugglin to find a reason to renew ST and this just makes me think what a waste of hard-earned it will be. I know its early doors still but unless I see some decent signings soon dont think I can be arsed tbh. When we have seen the giant centre fowards cause mayhem at BP last season eg MK Dongs, Fryatt / Howarth from Leicester, Lambert and even Savage and Ricketts, what do we offer ... the mighty Wolf ffs !!!. struggling with the faith ......
  16. there was a great problem at the club with a boozing culture - my mate at work went to school in manc with the Sheridan clan and they are all a rum bunch believe me based on the tales he tells ! the Belle Vue dogs fiasco was just an accident waiting to happen and it showed that we had a bunch of hard drinking bullies in the club. Thank god DP aka DeNiro has got rid.. however would like to see some signings soon as aint got ST yet and would like to see a few names on shirts before I part with hard-earned for new season. Was seriously p***ed off with way last season fizzled out although writing was on wall since christmas. We need DeNiro to rekindle the fire and restore the faith ........ lets see some signings please and then I may be tempted to renew................ hanging on to the faith .... just .....
  17. Price is a beast and would give us what we need - a big ugly fecker leading the linerand scaring the sh**e out of defenders. with Abbot or even Lewis to feed off him we could be in at the business end next season ! sign him up DP !!
  18. Both have the potential but also have serious shortcomings which they havnt seemed bothered to work on all season and yeaterday was very infuriating as they both were hopelessly inneffective. Smalley seems to have a real stamina problem as after 50 mins he is goosed - he also plays the dying swan too readily and stays down as if poleaxed - watchin too much of premiershyte IMHO. Also when he gets up he hobbles / walks like hes crippled for a few minutes - he needs to work on his fitness and durability and he could be nearer the finished article. Lewis appears like a carthorse for a lot of the games, he needs to work on speed and strength - he gets shrugged of the ball far too easily and dwells on it when in possession. Obvious flaws yet neither seem bothered to put them right. As for the Wolf - ffs how embarrasing was it to see Southends big centre halfs repeatedly snuff him out - was like the school bully taking sweets of a kid. Never in a million years is is big or strong enough to lead a line - maybe a drop into midfield or get shut quick BFJ. Unless we sort out the fowards for next season I can only see more of the barren dross we have been served up in recent games and I aint sure abour renewing ST next year. Get it sorted BFJ as quick as and maybe the rapidly loosing faith can be kept !
  19. went down to BP late this afternoon to exchange Chaddy End ST tickets for tickets in RRE as fancy the atmosphere for this one - got unreserved seats - anyone know what is availability of non ST seats behind goal or near to moat ? is it generally ST reserved or are there a decent choice of seats - arrivin in good time for ko of course ! cheers.
  20. Sees the pondlife down at millwall are preparing to give our Lee a warm welcome judgeing by the comments on thir site . Not as bad as earlier in the season tho - they were planning all sorts of shenanagins after we dicked em at BP in August !. Time for tin hats at the Den methinks ! EDIT: Link Fixed (again)(New window)
  21. Thought he was top player for Northampton yesterday. Used to really like him as LB when he was at Tics a few years ago and gutted and disapointed when we moved him on - strong, skillful, wins most in the air, fantastic left foot and long throw. Class act and no surprise their goal came from his work down their left. Would still like to see him in blue (or pink!) shirt again someday!
  22. thought he looked good - was cool, strong and composed and won most of his challenges. Some passing in first half was undercooked as if he hadnt got used to league 1 style but he looked safe and thb would prefer him to NE at right back as feel he defends miles better than Eards. Nice to have good options again !
  23. the neanderthals on millwal sites as per usual are bragging about their pathetic antics and say its all part of being Millwall and its other fans fault for taking them on. Their website 'vital football / millwall online' is always full of boasts about violence and trouble and how they revel in it - many tales are truely shocking. A recurring theme is Lee Hughes - they hate him with a vengance as if all of a sudden they have the moral high ground - and many threads have implied plans for making him 'welcome' when Latics visit the new Den soon. Think I'll be giving that game a miss as a significant section of their fans arnt interested in the football but glorifing the violent tradition these knuckle-draggers have built up over the years. Just hope we dont endup with these fookers in the play-offs - would keep GMP busy at any rate !
  24. got STs in Chaddy but swapped for RRE yesterday - got good seats right next to divide and atmosphere was rockin !. Stood up for full 90 mins without any probs. Will deffo swap tickets where poss for rest of the season and deffo renew in RRE next year - CRE has lost its atmosphere at mo and RRE miles better quality stand. and tons better atmosphere when a bit of rivallry and banter with away fans IMHO ..... mind you ,it has LDB tho !!!
  25. didnt we get that ace midfielder Wayne Gill from the trannies ?? .... masterstroke .. sorry mastubator !
