    You could be right....has a resemblance. Primarily a central midfielder though that can play full back? Was last at Walsall and Colchester

    There's a few people I don't recognise - black lad wearing 19 next to Flynn (thought Osei was 18 and doesn't look like him) - young lad wearing 5 in pink bib behind dummigan - 23 as already mentioned

    Any decent handicap bets out there? I envisage someone like Portsmouth being relatively unfancied by bookies for promotion would be worth a handicap bet too.

    I have birdied every hole on my local golf course doesn't make me a pro. As someone has said it's about consistency at such a pro level.

    Granted 1 x GK is likely to be in earlier...we can always use youth gK's in pre season games. Doesn't bother me if it means we get a better Calibre of GK for the start of the season. Not exactly critical to pre season tactics other than distribution,organising the defence and how they collect crosses etc.

    2 x GK's 1 x LB, 1 x Striker/winger how many loaners can you have? I suspect all the above may be loans which are likely to be done in the last week or two of pre season if so.

    A Manchester 11...how many first team era do you reckon? Lucky if shaw and jones will be playing still a pre season I will pay to watch so we'll done

    We have decent links with Blackburn don't we? Hopefully if they did buy him we could get one of them on a loan deal!

    It can only be a good thing though him being in better shape... he might lose a touch of strength if he trimmed down but I'm sure it would be outweighed with other positives. Saying that Gregan was a class above carrying timber and knew how to use it, not sure Gerrard is in the same class though.

    Hope he has had a conservative off season in terms of Calorie intake...he was carrying at the end of last season. Need him and Clarke in tip top shape (I have no doubts Clarke will be).

    Interesting one...what standard is the bottom of la liga? Akin to bottom of Prem?

    Could do with a higher league team (championship ideally) to play to really test our team...Swindon (a league lower) are as tough as it gets up to now. Possibly a Sheff Weds or Leeds etc?

    Yea probably on hols or not available to travel to the club. Not sure if it is a verbal agreement or signed...I would imagine verbal at the minute.

    He won't be talking about boro because they aren't a newly found Prem club. Must be talking about a Huddersfield Brighton or Newcastle player. his reference to newly available options is a worry though and could be Ripley.

    This is probably the key bit...whilst Sheridan may be serious, I'm not sure those that hold the purse strings are as ambitious as willing to make a gamble on increasing attendances to pay for increased investment unfortunately. Not until they start to see better signs of opportunity unfortunately...I.e at Xmas we are in a strong position and they will look to invest some of the extra attendance income we will have had in the first half of the season.

    They will pay a bigger proportion of his salary than we will I imagine...or even pay a loan fee. If it goes down to a choice for Ripley as opposed to a commercial deal decided higher up, I would expect him to pick us if it was about being at a league 1 club this season.

    I personally think it is a great signing in relation to my expectations...nothing wrong with people believing that. appreciate you obviously think differently but I do then struggle to understand how realistic your expectations must be.

    Whats our alternative?? Another journeyman with a poorer than average scoring record...or a punt on a youth loanee from higher league club (which is what I expect us to do as well anyway). At least we know what we are getting and Sheridan and him have a good history where he did score a good amount of goals. Beggers cant be choosers...
