  1. So are we all agreed then? Last night was disappointing and we showed a few standard errors, but ultimately it is early days and Saturday is far more crucial. Young lads need to keep working hard, and we need to decide on the balance if the side, but that is what PD is paid to do and I'm happy to let him get on with it.
  2. Prozac - the ineffective Simpson? Harsh. Involved in our best stuff first half and given no service in the second. As for Tarky, if course it wasn't his fault last night, but the warning signs are that there are a few too many mistakes that don't seem to be being removed from his game. Plus, three Latics players could have walked yesterday including Tarky, for stupid tackles with both feet off the ground. Poor.
  3. By totting up resources the only way I could see Dickov changing things would have been to pull M'changama inside, Wes onto O'Grady's toes and put slew out left. Worrying lack of resources, and a concern that he did nothing. Some good stuff in the first half, but old failings still appear to be in evidence. That said though, Crofty on the back post at 2-0 had to be game over. Awful finish
  4. Hopefully plays like that week in, week out and not just when Sky are visiting!
  5. I don't think anyone wants to bury Tarkowski in negative feedback but ultimately he is playing week in, week out and not performing. He needs to switch on for the full game, and not just twenty minute patches. He has promise, and was up against a tough opponent in O'Grady - his Twitter comments bode well if he is ignoring the cotton wool brigade and acknowledging failings.
  6. Experience and "fox in the box" players might not have worked for us, you never know. Realistically we are going to try and play in a style that cries out for pace and power through the middle - hence why Tonks was such a success when he first arrived. Getting Hayter or Cureton wouldn't have necessarily worked for the team. Hopefully we'll have a Defoe experience with Slew?
  7. Craig Dudley was rapid. Must have been quicker than every other white man we've had?
  8. What is wrong with Winchester at RB? I think he's far better there
  9. Agree except for 10th place finish. Put pessimism to one side for now, and show me 9 teams in this league we'd do excellently to finish behind.
  10. The cups are great, but potentially a problem with a thin squad. From the club's perspective though we surely have to be looking to get at least one good tie in either of the League or FA Cups. In the League it's play-offs though. If Stevenage and Notts County can challenge then why not us?
  11. Obviously the Everton and Leeds combo was utterly stupendous, and Reuben's goal was delicious. However, the 1-0 away win versus Tranmere. We couldn't score for weeks and then bagged in the 93rd minute. Then a master swordsman who posts on here ripped my brother's bodywarmer in a show of delight...
  12. Glad that someone else knew this. As for all those tough, worldly guys on here - total bollocks from the lot of you. Some things aren't funny to people, and it doesn't make them soft. And neither does it make you hard.
  13. Without wanting to be melodramatic you are posting about child murdering sociopaths in the shadows of Saddleworth Moor. Someone on here could conceivably have followed that case live in horror of what could have happened to their children. Stick to football case studies and it's fine, but some things are in bad taste and should not be mentioned.
  14. Everyone knew what he meant, it was still out of order
  15. God we have some dickends for fans don't we? How tiresome that such general nobbery is given an airing in public... Richie and pals - lame.
  16. Forget him, Tonks is the future. Sign him immediately and we will win the league.
  17. I can see why scrotes from Selhurst want to stab you up real bad all the time. You super fly...
  18. That's because you are a nasty little :censored:house sell-out, with no loyalty and obnoxious attitudes. The North is better off without you. I bet you listen to drum and bass too don't you? God I hate you.
  19. Football is boring. The same top clubs due to Europe, endless hype about :censored: games that rarely live up go their billing and a remorseless grind of wank teams playing the best footballing sides by hoofing them. Cheating is endemic, governing bodies full of self-aggrandizing thieves and a divorce between the football world and fans / reality. I really don't enjoy going to the majority of Latics games because they are just frustrating and disappointing for 90% of the time. I certainly don't really care about England... The only reason I go anymore is because I have a chip on my shoulder about being a bloody-minded Latics fan, and as much as it is a pain in the arse I cannot not care. If they went bust though, I'd not watch football anymore except as a blocking tactic to :censored:e soaps.
  20. I remember holding my head in my hands when people called Craig Davies lazy - I always thought he ran himself into the ground but in non-threatening areas. Chris Taylor wanted to move on so became a :censored:house big time Charlie. I'm getting the same sinking feeling now with Morais. Are people talking balls because they sleep through games, or are they blinded by a perceived slight on the club because he didn't sign up after two minutes thought? The boy can cross - I rate his delivery highly in fact. It isn't his fault that people don't get into position, even Alan Shearer said that during the Euros.
  21. Simpson and Tonks up top could be a recipe for success. I'd love to see a wrecking ball playing in front of Robbie Simpson...
  22. Robbie Simpson is a quality footballer, and whenever I have seen him playing fully fit and in the number 10 role he has looked our best player. I've argued this elsewhere with Taylor - given the style of play last year once confidence fell to pieces those players off the top who were looking for runners off them and short passes were always going to really struggle. Simpson - like Taylor, Lee, Morais and Furman - had the bottle to keep wanting the ball when we were falling apart, and I think that says more about the guy than a perceived loss of form. I just hope that the players don't read some of the :censored:e that gets played out on here. Bottom line is that we will not find a better footballer than Robbie Simpson, and signing him should be a huge priority. Play him off Tonks rather than Kuqi and I think we would see our best creative talent since Kilkenny.
  23. Silly? Do we definitively know why there was a delay in his signing, or is this just wild conjecture to blackball a young lad for considering his future?
  24. I just don't get it. A tiny problem when measured against cheating and offsides, both of which happen every day and could see the ref aided by technology. The guy was offside moments before the 'goal' and it wasn't exactly close. Also, to those who criticise 'bad' refs, I would suggest a winding in of the necks. Players and the rampant professionalism that seems to be an accepted part of the game make the red's job almost untenable given the speed of the game now.
