  1. Err, what? Bouzanis is a decent shot-stopper capable of decent distribution, but he is appalling at crosses, woefully slow off his line and doesn't talk to his defenders. His erratic keeping has to be a major cause for concern next year.
  2. Oldham's problem is simple in my eyes. There are no jobs in a town that has over one hundred thousand people. We have young Asian lads growing up in areas with few prospects, and we have young white lads on council estates where neither parents nor grandparents have ever worked. When people have nothing they will look for something to identity with, creed and culture, race or even an institution like Latics. Oldham is a giant melting pot with an awful lot of Asian and white nobheads without a focus.
  3. All this is a bit strange... Do people genuinely not hear the chants and comments that come down the terraces at times? I'm not saying the societal influences aren't important, but there are other issues that we need to recognise.

  5. Surprised at the amount of hostility to the article, I thought it was alright. There is still a racist element in our support, whatever you would like to believe, because of the social demographic that commit to watching Latics. Not the sole reason, but it certainly exists .
  6. This is spot on. Good start for the new manager, and encouraging signs of pressing in the right areas with Wes and the midfield pushing on. Has to be said though, Hartlepool were awful and as a first test a young manager must dream if teams that pass it right back to you...
  7. Tarky 8? What game did you watch? Still far too many mistakes, moments of poor positioning and some suspect defending. He has to work very hard to improve. That said Howard was a tough opponent.
  8. Fiorentina from an early shirt perspective and Football Italia. VFB Stuttgart from relatives. Oldham Hulmeians because they are sensational, Springbank Tavern for the same reason. Guess which two of those teams may have been represented...
  9. Happy with the red - if Arbeloa doesn't jump then that is head high. Surely Nani bears responsibility for making sure that he doesn't endanger his fellow professionals, and hence intent / eyes on the ball is irrelevant? Great decision. Ferdinand is toilet.
  10. Two incidents spring to mind, one being at Liverpool and the other amusingly at Charlton after Philip Morris equalised. Against Liverpool vwhen walking to the Grey Mare there were a group of Latics fans out for a scrap, and one of them was screaming abuse at three young Asian lads. Mainly because he said they were supporting Liverpool, but then he called.them "you c*nts" which wasn't great. If I were them I wouldn't be back... As for Charlton there was an Asian lad with his missus(?) In front of us, and when we equalised my brother managed to belt him and send his glasses flying! Accident, but there you go.
  11. Worth a contract for his improvement since Christmas, but we shouldn't forget that up until then he was bob average. If Smith chooses to leave he would be making a mistake, he's only just started getting any game time at all and he needs to get more still. Some of the comment on here is hugely OTT...
  12. Appalling behaviour - he robbed us of seeing a properly competed game. Went into everything with Smith's equaliser in mind, and assumed we were jumping the keeper. May not have won, but that guy was a joker, who by the end was bordering on the disgraceful.
  13. TP seems to be one of the only constants at Latics, a guy with the club at heart. Nothing but respect for the bloke, and in my opinion one of the major assets that we have. Not sure about him as manager though, purely because if it goes wrong then he would be dismissed, which would cost us elsewhere.
  14. As I understand it the translation is closer to "little Negro friend" and is not supposed to be insulting. When used within an argument it could be seen to be so, but if so why would Suarez not deny it? There is genuine racism out there without looking for it in petty words uttered in an argument
  15. Shameful, that's how I see it. Saw those scum on the road in front of the Grey Mare. If I'd had a gun...
  16. As I heard it the word is a hispanic one, common in South America, which has skin colour connotations but is not meant to be offensive. For instance, apparently Pacheco calls Glen Johnson the same word and they are mates.
  17. Him and the skinhead nob looking for a brawl outside the Grey Mare who was screaming in the face of three young Asian lads on the incorrect assumption they were Liverpool fans. Now they're racist, and scumbags through and through.
  18. Well, he's come good over the last six weeks or so when he has started to jump his height. I thought he put decent shifts in against both Donny and Forest, winning headers for the first time ever. Would love to see him get a taste for battering centre-halves and start doing it every week
  19. Still dwells on the ball at bad times too much for me. A natural born full-back is what he looks like... Good shift against the Scousers though, one dwelling on the ball incident aside.
  20. No problem with Suarez and I don't really think the Evra incident shows him up as a racist. Surely the definition of racist language lies in the users intent, and from everything I have read about the situation it seems likely that in fact he didn't view his comments as racially offensive. Hence he admitted what he said and condemned himself. Also, no issues with the handballs because I'd do the same. Diving is lame, but he's no worse than most. So no, I don't boo him.
  21. I love Paul Murray, and would let him play until he was 46. There is, and can ever be, only one Paul Murray. Legend
  22. Can we not be trusted to sit next to openly Liverpool folk? If someone is behaving like a nob in the home end then fair enough, but I couldn't give two :censored:s whether Liverpool fans get in there and celebrate a goal.
  23. I'm not saying people are wrong, but again I have asked a question about the supposed mismanagement and the responses are an allegation of taking funds out from extraordinary revenue streams and Corney suggesting the club could survive him. Hardly conclusive, and as for the comment regarding the creaming of profits then you have to balance that against the fact that we didn't win a cup game for about three years so surely all that time the losses were being covered elsewhere? The ground status is very worrying, but I don't get the rest of the innuendo I'm afraid.
